“ ice is ice is ice. ” was he fully aware that this ice king ( haha adventure time tease ) could hold his own with the slick element ? could manipulate it to stay in formation ? oh, sure ! but mark liked his ice the way he liked his ice: ice. “ always too damn crowded there, ” he remarked, shrugging a single shoulder. too crowded. too loud. too flashy. too many people. everything mark hated. furthermore, everything mark, in his current state, would not be able to withstand. “ ‘right. you’re buying. ”
He was frowning. “You just don’t get it.” Ice is ice is ice, no, Daichi’s ice was different in every way possible. The same way Mark’s snakes were different from ordinary snakes. It was similar and also differed, the duality of it all. “Okay, fine, I can understand that.” Nyx could be a lot, he understood that perfectly. “Of course, order whatever you want and I’ll cover it.” He flashed him a smirk before leading the way to their destination.

“Good. There isn’t anything grosser than kids with snot bubbles, except for kids who sneeze all over things.” Cyrus is a little shocked to hear that this guy isn’t a fan of games, but to each their own! “A lot of fun! One of my favourites, actually. You should try it one day, you might end up enjoying it. I’m also a big fan of Pacman. There’s just something satisfying about that game.”
“Oh, Pacman, I know that one.” Everyone knew Pacman. “That’s here too, right? I’ll play that one, it’s easy enough.”

“I’m so glad you’re alive too,” Nia whispered, her voice breaking at the end despite how hard she tried to rein it in. She didn’t want to breakdown, not now. Despite being the younger of the two and always the follower, she wanted to be strong for Daichi. She didn’t want to burden him. When he explained how Theo had died, she squeezed his arms in a way of silent sympathy. “She…She was one of the good ones.” As much as Nia despised the Omegas, she would be grateful to Theo and Theo alone for how happy she made Daichi.
Then, the subject moved to where she had been, and her eyes fell to the ground. That was a mistake–the effect of Xavier’s telepathic rebound lingered and instead of the flooring, she saw hundreds of thousands tiny black bugs crawling over the floor, getting dangerously closer to them. Her feet shifted away, before she shut her eyes tight. It’s not real. It’s not real. When she opened them again, everything had returned to normal. It did nothing to calm her racing pulse. “Do you…Do you remember Julien?” she winced saying his name, well aware Daichi had most likely not forgotten. “He was at the school. When Xavier knocked me out, he took me back to his place. He’s why I’m not in prison right now.” Or dead, she thought, but was reluctant to give him that sort of credit aloud.
She was one of the good ones. Of course, no matter the person, they would admit that Theo was a good person. That she was too good for anyone, especially for him. And yet... he had her and she had him. Wasn’t that something special. “Julien?” It took a while for the name to click and when it did, oh, he was not happy. His expression was a combination of anger and confusion. “He was there? How, why?” It didn’t make any sense but honestly, did anything in this city ever make sense? Absolutely not. God. “So he was there and he saved you... Was he there working for Xavier or what?”

There’s a brief moment where she considers damning her image anyway if only for the sake of hugging Daichi the way she wants to. But, she can save that for later, once they don’t have the ever watchful eyes of the rest of the group surrounding them. “You don’t have to be sorry, I just wish we both could have been bright enough to talk to each other in the first place.”
“Same here.” Maybe things would’ve gone a lot better, actually, he knew for sure that it would. Because it would mean another person that he could trust without them looking down at him. “I will say that I’m just not... used to this. I usually tell everything like this to Nia and my cousin-- I guess I’m still getting used to letting others in. I’ll promise to do better and tell you everything.” There was a bit before he laughed gently. “Though, it’s a little late since I’ll be gone soon.”

Her gaze drops for a moment, a rush of guilt for not at least trying. So many of his last weeks in the country had been wasted over this. Daichi was her friend, how naive of her to think he’d be so cold? There’s not much she can do to undo the past, but she can at least move forward, and hopefully try and make it up to him. Finally looking at him again, she asks, “Is it too late to show up for you now? Because, fuck, I’ve missed you, and I’ve been worried about you. I’m sorry I wasn’t there from day one, but I want to be here now if I can.”
“It’s never too late.” If they weren’t outside, if the other Brotherhood members weren’t nearby, he would’ve hugged her. But he was respectful of the image that she wanted to maintained, so all he did was put his arm around her shoulders and pull Mari into his body. Something he would do any other time, just this time it was different. “I’ve missed you too, Mari. I’m sorry that I kept this from you. I should’ve told you everything when it started getting serious.”

“ think it’d melt a little too fast for a game worth its weight. ” or crack. mark may not have been some kind of ice god, but he knew as much about ice as the next guy… which was to say: frozen water. “ ‘drinking buddy,’ ” he repeated with a low, dark chuckle. but fuck it ! he was in shit condition, popsicle was leaving in a matter of days – throw him a damn bone. “ o’donahues and i’ll bite. ain’t goin’ to nyx. ”
“My ice is different, it would last an entire game.” But even so, he took what the other said as a no. That was fine, he didn’t care for jenga anyways. “What, you’re not a fan of Nyx?” It was Daichi’s favorite spot, everyone could tell. “But fine, we can go to O’Donahues.”

“I know that, and I’m glad.” Losing Elliott was bad enough, she would have been inconsolable if she had lost Daichi, too. “Mari,” She deadpans. She considers leaving it at that, but she doesn’t want to push him away. He’s leaving too soon, she doesn’t want him to leave the country thinking she doesn’t care when her problem is caring too much. “I’m supposed to be Mari. Not Maria. Maria is weak and emotional. No one would respect me if I walked around with my heart on my sleeve. I’ve been worried you wouldn’t respect me anymore if I showed up for you like that.”
“Mari.” Did he really come across as that type of person? Maybe to others, that he didn’t care, but to her? God. “Fuck, that would make me respect you more. If you had showed up like that for me... I would’ve appreciated it.” He needed someone like that, especially with Nia being gone because of some guy, and then Theodora no longer at his side... if it was Maria who showed up at his doorstep, he would’ve pulled her close and never let go. He needed that.

“Well, that’s disgusting. Thanks for the warning, man.” Cyrus backs away from the Mortal Kombat machine, deciding to play the Street Fighter one next to it. “I hope his nose is blocked when he tries to sleep tonight,” he grumbles. “You a Mortal Kombat fan, too?”
He snorted. “From how he was looking, it might be.” Who even let their kid outside with a cold like that? “Not really a fan of any games, though this one looks interesting. Is it fun?”

irena softly smiled at the other after hearing the reason why. it was a reason the woman could respect, it was more than she would ever do for family and daichi, much to everyone’s shock, was more human than her in that regard. “i should hope that you did. you need not mention the others, myself, quite satisfactory.” the woman chuckled as she jested. “whatever happens, i will be here if you ever decide to return.” that was a statement, a promise. although irena westwood wasn’t immune, she had an ability that could ensure the brotherhood went on for a long time, even if they had to retreat back into the shadows. “it’s been fun.” she hummed. “always a good thing to go out on a high.” though irena didn’t seem to know when to stop.
He chuckled alongside her. “If I do return, it’ll be as a supporter of the organization, not as a top agent. And the return will be very brief.” Whenever the organization needed the money for something, it’ll be Daichi backing them. That was the always deal and he was going to keep to it. “Can I be honest with you about something?”

The second Nia had woken up in Julien’s apartment, she left. Her head still ached, the visions were more frequent, and parts of her body still ached deeply. None of that mattered at the moment because her main focus was Daichi. She had to know if he was okay. That goal became more urgent on the cab ride over as she heard on the radio that Theodora had died. Please be alive, please be alive, please be alive. If she lost Daichi…
She opened the door after a slight difficulty of getting the key in the lock, and was nearly immediately pulled into a hug. The tension and fear she’d been holding onto faded away, as she hugged Daichi back as tight as she could. “I messed it all up, I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry.” She had failed her mission, and worried Daichi would be disappointed in her for it. Then, she pulled back, voice soft as she said, “And I…I heard about Theo. I’m so sorry, Daichi. What happened?”
“None of that matters. You’re alive and that’s the only thing I care about.” He was loyal to the Brotherhood but Nia’s safety will always be his first priority. No matter the situation. He winced at the name, he was still dealing with her lost. “She... she sacrificed herself. For those she was saving, she used up every bit of herself to revive them.” She used herself instead of using him, the villain of the entire situation. “It’s--” He breathed in before shaking his head. “I don’t want to talk about it. I want to talk about you. Where were you?”

infestabeth:
This was the longest month Betty had been through in quite some time. After what happened with the Brotherhood’s…Well, failure, morale was understandably down. Ezra somehow reached a new low, people were considering if the group was worth fighting for, and they were losing one of their top agents in a matter of weeks. The very same top agent who had been seeing an Omega, then saved another that very same day. It was only because the Omega was her daughter’s best friend that she wasn’t angry over that too.
At the knock on her door, she glanced up to see the man himself walk in. “Daichi,” she greeted, her voice tired. “I believe I already know the truth, but I want to hear you say it. You were seeing that Omega, weren’t you?”
@daichxato
He was doing a lot better, his phone call with his mother really helped with brightening up his world. And all because he had Theodora rot on the brain, just the absolute fact that there was a way to bring her back to life. It was the only thing truly getting him through the rest of the month, oh, that and just partying. He smiled brightly, as if everything was alright. Well, until he walked in to have a chat with Betty then suddenly he wasn’t feeling it anymore. “... And if I was?”

“No.” Yes? Maybe? She doesn’t know. An Omega of all people… but it’s not like she’s the poster child for a good Brotherhood member. This is Daichi, for crying out loud. He’d never do anything to purposely hurt the Brotherhood. “I just… thought that I had lost you down there, and it brought so much shit up. And, I don’t want to bring that version of myself around you— or any of the others. She’s not me. She’s not who I’m supposed to be.” The Mari who had been dragged to surface in Bergen was the bleeding heart little kid who felt like she had nowhere to go. It was a part of herself she had assumed to be long gone, one she was worried wouldn’t garner the same respect the ‘tough as nails’ ‘can beat your ass into next tuesday’ ‘doesn’t take shit form anybody’ version had earned.
“But you didn’t lose me, I’m right here in front of you.” Somewhat. It was an embarrassment that he lost himself like that, much less in front of other Brotherhood members. In front of Mari. There was nothing wrong with being emotional but it was different when you were a top agent of an impressive organization like the Brotherhood. “And who are you supposed to be?”

LOCATION && WITH WHOM : : THIER HOUSE W / @thedreammaster
She wasn’t by his side when he woke up and that caused him to panic. No phone call, none of the Brotherhood members have seen her-- he was spiraling. It took two of his friends to hold him back, to keep him from running out of his home in order to find her. He could barely keep himself standing but he was still prepared to find her, though he didn’t have a single lead to follow. Daichi felt weak and completely useless for days. First, he lost Theodora and now Nia? If he had the energy to do so, he would’ve turn his temporary home into an ice fortress and this time, Yazmin wouldn’t be there to stop him. But he held on, hoping that she’ll appear or that someone would find her, even if it was her dead body. He needed something to calm him down.
Luckily, his prayers were heard. He was trying to watch whatever movie was playing when he heard the door open. “Nia? Nia!” He scrambled off the couch, almost falling to his knees, as he ran up to her and pulled her close. “You’re alive, thank God.”

it was no secret that on most given days… mark would have, at best, walked away ( #diva ). but between a pain subsisting since his last broadcast, aggravation in regards to his own self, and pity, he figured he would humor popsicle and punish himself. “ the hell are you expecting me to do about that ? you got some jenga lined up or something ? ”
“Jenga? No-- but I could make it for us if you want. You think playing ice jenga is possible?” With the twirl of his finger, he created a singular jenga piece out of ice. “Come to a bar with me, I need a drinking buddy.”

“i thought it was just a hoax, a silly little prank.” the woman stood up. “but if you are truly leaving, i wish you the best.” irena smiled meekly and nodded towards daichi. “you have served us well but still have so much to learn. remember what i taught you and never be complacent.” a brief wink followed.
“Unfortunately it’s not. Promised my old man that I’ll go back at the end of the month.” Well, his flight was early August 1st but that was basically the same thing. He smiled gently. “You know, I did learn a lot from you, Irena. All of you and... I’m thankful. For you, everyone, the entire organization. You guys shaped me into a better person.”

“I’m… I’m not avoiding you.” She was she just didn’t want to admit it. “I just figured you’d want space.” What she wanted was to tell him she was sorry that he had lost Eurynome, and that she knew the weight of that. That she was there for him, and he didn’t have to be alone, allegiance be damned. But, they had never spoken on topics so deep, and she didn’t know how he’d react.
“Bullshit, you are avoiding me.” He didn’t like it. One of the few people he still had and trusted and here she was avoiding him. “Yeah and I had enough of it in June,” Daichi said. “Did I do something wrong?”
