Soy Daisy Contreras, una madre soltera, con un niño de 3 años llamado Daniel Omar Contreras. Vivo en Caguas Puerto Rico. En este momento, como se puede deducir de las noticias, el COVID -19 ha estancado por completo la economía puertorriqueña o lo que queda de ella. Mi hogar ha estado lidiando con las secuelas del huracán Irma, el huracán María, los terremotos y ahora una pandemia. Me las arreglé para sobrevivir únicamente porque pude trabajar por un salario mínimo y una guardería bastante barata para Daniel. COVID-19 ha puesto en peligro la capacidad de hacer frente a los gastos normales para mí y mi hijo. Estaba trabajando en Marco's Pizza, antes de la crisis pandémica, me enfermé de una pequeña infección sinusal, que solía tener en mis 2 días libres. Al día siguiente fui a mi turno y no me permitieron trabajar. No he podido volver a trabajar porque no puedo probar que no era y que no tenía COVID-19. Las instalaciones y los médicos que he intentado ver no me verán, ya que no tengo ningún signo de COVID-19 ni estoy enfermo, lo que significa que no puedo obtener un documento que indique que estoy libre de COVID-19. He hecho varios intentos de explicarle esto a mi jefe y los médicos me han explicado por teléfono a mi jefe. En última instancia, no se me permite volver al trabajo y no hay empleadores que vuelvan a llamar para entrevistas en este momento, ya que la mayoría de los negocios en relaciones públicas están cerrados o se ejecutan en un equipo esqueleto. En cuanto a los reclamos de desempleo o cualquier tipo de asistencia gubernamental, bueno, las noticias lo dicen todo, no he recibido respuesta y hay muchos tonos de llamada ocupados. Sinceramente, no estoy seguro de cómo comenzar, pero "gracias" a cualquiera o aquellos que pueden ayudar con cualquier cantidad. Esta ayuda se destinará a hacer abolladuras o pagar mi factura de luz, factura de agua y ayuda con mi alquiler mensual. Lo más importante de todo, cualquier donación, ayudaría a aliviar la presión hasta que pueda encontrar la normalidad y encontrar otro trabajo en Caguas. Yo, una vez más, estoy muy agradecido con ellos.

I am Daisy Contreras, a single mother, with a 3 year old named Daniel Omar Contreras. I live in Caguas Puerto Rico. At this time, as one can surmise from the news, the COVID -19 has completely stalled the Puerto Rican economy or what was left of it. My home has been dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria, earthquakes and now a pandemic. I have managed to get by solely because I was able to work for minimum wage and a fairly inexpensive daycare for Daniel. COVID-19 has put ability to take care of normal expenses for myself and son in jeopardy. I was working at Marco's Pizza, before the pandemic crisis, I came down with a minor sinus infection, which I tended to on my 2 days off work. The following day I went to my shift and I was not allowed to work. I have not been able to return to work because I can not prove I was not and did not have COVID-19. The facility and doctors that I have made attempts to see will not see me as I do not have any signs of COVID-19 nor am I sick which means that I cannot get a document stating I am clear of the COVID-19. I have made several attempts to explain this to my boss and I have had medics explain on the phone to my boss. Ultimately, I am not allowed back to work and there are no employers calling back for interviews at this time since most of the business in PR are either closed or running on a skeleton crew. As for unemployment claim(s) or any type of govermental assistance, well the news says it all, I am met with no response and many many busy dial tones. I honestly am unsure how to begin but "thank you" to anyone or those who are able to help with any amount. This help will go to make dents or pay off my light bill, water bill and help with my monthly rent. Most important of all, any donation, would help alleviate pressure until I can find normalcy and find another job in Caguas.  I, once again, am ever so thankful to those.
