who’s the werewolf and who’s the hunter

Rhodey is the hunter and Tony is the werewolf! They met 30 years ago when Rhodey was hunting down Tony’s father inside a forest and instead found Tony, who back then was still a puppy. Tony had been abandoned by his father and had been wandering around, very lost, and Rhodey found him and was like “fuck I can’t hurt him he’s too baby :( I guess I have a new friend now” and that’s the story of how Rhodey and Tony became best friends and hunted down Howard together and also five years later started dating and eventually married and moved into the very same forest together in a little wooden cottage.

who’s the mermaid and who’s the fisherman

I have a massive soft spot for merman Tony, so we’ll go with that and fisherman Rhodey. Tony is basically Ariel sans Ursula and he sees Rhodey in his little dinghy off the coast of the beach and is like “oooo an attractive human” and swims up to Rhodey, nearly knocks Rhodey’s boat over with the force his tail makes in the water, and introduces himself. Rhodey is, understandably, freaked out, but also blown away and kind of charmed by the audacity this merman has to just swim over like he’s somebody. What a weirdo. Rhodey’s gonna keep him.

who’s the witch and who’s the familiar

Rhodey is the witch and Tony is his cat familiar. Rhodey will be mixing some potions or something and Tony will wander into his workstation, knock over the entire jar of newt’s eye, and meow plaintively for Rhodey to pay attention to him. Rhodey will then pick Tony up, shake him slightly for being a bad cat, and then give him a small kiss on the forehead because he adores Tony being a chaotic little demon.

who’s the barista and who’s the coffee addict

I mean do I even have to say it. Rhodey is at MIT on work-study in one of the campus Dunkin’ Donuts. Tony is also an MIT student and regular, known for his order of twelve black coffees. He will sit at a table for hours working on a project and drink each cup slowly. One day, it’s Rhodey’s turn to brew the coffees and in walks Tony, looking very soft and tired and way too young to be drinking that much coffee, and Rhodey cannot in good conscience let Tony have his twelve coffees if he doesn’t like, eat something with them and also take at least two breaks during his project. And also they fall in love along the way. 

who’s the professor and who’s the TA

Introduction to Aerospace Engineering professor Dr. James Rhodes and his TA, PhD candidate Dr. Tony Stark. Rhodey’s course is renowned for being the hardest course at MIT, as it serves as a weed-out for aerospace engineering majors, and they both revel in the looks of shock and horror on the students’ faces during each exam. Of course they’re good teachers, they just want to prepare the students for the Real World where they have to solve very complex problems. And also they’re known as the campus power couple, and everyone is low-key scared of them and their combined smarts and sheer big dick energy.

who’s the knight and who’s the prince(ss)

Tony as a knight just works so well and Rhodey is clearly royalty reincarnate so… yeah. Rhodey is a bored prince who keeps sneaking out of the palace to have romantic trysts with his loyal knight that has been his friend since he was a young boy. When it’s time to choose an appropriate queen consort, Rhodey causes quite the scandal by picking Tony over the several dozen offers from other royals.

who’s the teacher and who’s the single parent

EXHAUSTED SINGLE DAD TONY AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER RHODEY!!! Rhodey is very enamored with Tony’s adorable daughter Morgan and how flustered Tony is all the time, and Tony is attracted to any sense of stability and anyone his daughter approves of (both surprisingly hard to find), but alas, there are Rules. So while they may know they’re perfect for each other on the second parent-teacher meeting to discuss moving Morgan into accelerated math and reading programs, they only get together once Morgan moves into the first grade. 

who’s the writer and who’s the editor

Tony is basically already a tortured artist and Rhodey is basically already said tortured artist’s grip on reality so this works really well. Tony is a poetry author who writes incredibly dark and vivid freeform poem collections, and Rhodey is his editor who has to 1) read all of this in depth 2) suggest edits to it and 3) somehow not ask Tony to try therapy or go on a date with him to talk about their feelings. It’s very mutual-pining-y with Tony wanting nothing more than for his amazing editor to glace his way without the pretext of something to work on, and Rhodey wanting to hold his writer close and never let go.

Okay we know the trope of the Rhodey's family/parents adopt Tony but did you ever thought about Edwin and Anna Jarvis adopting Rhodes (it's basically "The Rhodes 🤝 The Jarvis's" looking out for MIT Rhodey and Tony)

Everyone knows about Tony being inducted into the Rhodes family unofficially. But what most don’t know is that Tony similarly dragged Rhodey to the Jarvis’ residence, all gangly limbs and sarcastic retorts that they’ve learned from watching too many M*A*S*H reruns. 

Edwin and Ana are very proper people, who set the table with coordinated plates and matching silverware and greet Tony with these sincere-yet-formal greetings, and Tony talks about opera and piano pieces and Rhodey feels like he made a mistake. 

He’s not like this, and he can’t fit into this. There’s no point in him trying to pretend to know about the new piece Pavarotti has put out, or the new society event. 

But it…changes.

Ironhusbands on ice AU 🏒🏒

James “War Machine” Rhodes, of the Iron Patriots, is the goalie with the coolest head and fastest glove-hand in the league. He’s virtually unflappable, except when it comes to one player, Tony “Iron Man” Stark. Captain of the Avengers, and determined to be as much of a menace off the ice as he is on it. 

Are they friends to lovers? Rivals to lovers? Estranged friends to lovers? I really have no idea all I know is @ferretshark had the most wonderful idea that Tony’s jersey number would based off the periodic table- 26 for Iron and 45 for Rhodium and it needed to be drawn up. 

*please excuse the clichéd summary and outing myself as knowing nothing about ice hockey but join me in begging Sahiya to please write this
