Life is a Highway

Nickname: Kinetic

AU taking place on an alternate Earth where there is only one continent similar to Pangea

After the Incident, Kinetic stole just enough money from the Family's stash to buy a camper van and go live on the roads

Honestly, he just wanted to get away from them

He stayed away for about 10 years (he has Pedro the banana as his companion)

During that time, the Family split up and settled all across the continent as their business expanded

One day, Kinetic hears about the Family going too far and decides to get rid of them for good, yada yada

He still wipes his memories and wakes up in the middle of nowhere, with a floating banana telling him to "Get in loser, we're overthrowing the mafia"

The rest of the story plays out normally but the distance between each family member is huge

Hence the road trip aspect

Mitch, Denny and Ophelia aren't the only targets; being a proper mafia, they have associates all over the place that Kinetic needs to take down as well

He's named Kinetic after kinetic energy because he's always on the move!

This AU had been in limbo for a while as a joke AU, cuz I was joking with a friend how I don't have an AU starting with "X" So I was like "Lmao, Xylophone AU" and it stayed as that for a while, with no real concept attached to it besides "Pedro fights with a xylophone for some reason" Until one day I got the idea of fighting by playing an instrument (contrary to Hi-Fi Rush where Chai just whacks stuff with his guitar, here Riff has to actually play to be able to do damage) and I started developing the idea and here we are!

As a reference to the original idea tho, Denny canonically uses a xylophone

Instrument War AU

Nickname: Riff

A world where people fight with instruments

Playing an instrument releases energy, different instruments and different genres release different energy

Riff uses an electric guitar as his main weapon because of its versatility

He can fire energy bullets but also unleash an energy pulse that covers a large area around him, good for crowd control

His guitar is reinforced with metal parts (I FORGOT TO DRAW THEM) to make it more durable

Ophelia uses a keytar

During the fight against her, she manages to destroy Riff's guitar, rendering him harmless

Or so she thought

Riff pulls out a microphone and starts singing

Riff is a very recent AU as well!

His suit is basically like an armor with a bunch of speakers integrated; I imagine there are 2 speakers on his chest, one on his stomach, one on each arm, one on each thigh, a big one on his back, and one in his mask in front of his mouth that he activates when he starts to sing (the ones in the cat ears are functional but very weak, and only here for decoration)

Also him singing was very off-putting to Ophelia because Riff is selective mute (to an extreme degree) and never said anything this whole time, so hearing him suddenly belting out Don't Stop Me Now with the voice of an angel was, uh. Something

Kitsune AU

Only Pedro is a kitsune

Shape-shifting nine-tailed kitsune

He's old af

The Family has been using him for their own benefits for generations, he's bound to them by a curse/contract or something that he cannot break

The Family captured him in Japan and brought him back to Europe

Trickster at heart

He was born in the 9th century and got enslaved in the 11th century so he's very confused about modern stuff

He was very close to Rose (the siblings' mother) as she was the only one to not see him as an object and actually cared for him

He uses a kitsune mask when going undercover

His collar is the physical manifestation of the contract/curse binding him to the family, he can't take it off

His real name is Kazanbai (Literally: Volcanic Ash) but nobody has used it for so long, he forgot it completely

After more than a thousand years of enslavement, he manages to break free from the curse/contract and runs away

He swears to kill every member of the family

He’s very fancy and gentlemanly because he’s been conditioned to behave this way

The daily doodle is set after he managed to remove the collar!

Though you can see what he looks like with it and also his true form right there!

A bit like Onward

Everyone in the family is a taur of some kind

It's just a game

AU where it's literally just the game except Pedro is aware of it

He's always felt like something was wrong but he ignored it until he first died and respawned

He can access the main menu just by saying "menu"

He couldn't bring himself to kill Ophelia and actually managed to make her self aware too

Though, Ophelia is not as troubled as he is

Is he being controlled? Is he free of movement? Who knows

His health bar and focus bar are always floating behind him

He can see the HUD

When he's on low health, he has the pulsating red effect on the edge of his vision (like on the sides of the screen), it drives him crazy

Perpetual nervous breakdown, don't get fooled by his smile

He sometimes replays some levels and tries to beat his high score just to try to distract himself from reality

Because he never killed Ophelia, he actually never finished the game

Always on the verge of going insane

Can use glitches and no clipping to his advantage

Infinite Focus AU

One day, before the game story took place, Pedro used his Focus as normal but found himself unable to snap out of it

He's been stuck in Focus for years

Everything (including him) moves at the pace of a snail and his perception is also gradually getting slower over time

It's driving him insane

Immortal AU

Nickname: Mortis

AU where Pedro is immortal and thus decided to be called Mortis

He found out about his inability to die when he was younger: he was doing parkour on top of some buildings when he missed a jump and fell 10 stories down. He woke up, thinking it was a dream until he saw the blood all around him

He never told anyone he was immortal

Don't believe him when he says he ignores the pain or is numb to it. He absolutely isn't and is often on the verge of passing out because of it

He is one of the most ruthless vigilante because he couldn't lose his memories by damaging his brain, so he KNOWS what he is doing and will do anything to achieve it

Despite that, he's an absolute goof and uses his immortality to try all kind of stupid shit and take unconsidered risks

He doesn't kill his Pedro! :D

In case of a severed limb, he can either reattach it or wait for it to grow back (usually takes a few seconds) (his limbs grow back Koro Sensei style!)

If he gets his head severed, he HAS to reattach it

His clothes do not regenerate and thus are full of holes and stitches

His mask broke after he got headshot several times

He loves his banana jacket, so he always takes extra care of it and tries his best to fix it when it gets damaged (it's his most stitched up piece of clothing)

He isn't used to people taking care of him as he always declines any kind of help

When enraged, his eyes turn red

He's not stupid, he just acts so because he can

Hypnosis AU

Pedro refused to join the dark business of the family

So they came up with a hypnosis mask to make him do their bidding

The mask hypnotizes him with flashing lights built in the lenses (like in The Incredibles 2)

Pedro has no idea this is happening and simply thinks his black out episodes are due to exhaustion

After the Incident he learns what has been going on

He runs away and takes the mask with him

A few years later, Pedro decides to get rid of his family for good, but still can't bring himself to do it

He decides to willingly hypnotize himself by putting the mask on and let the banana give him orders

At the end, the banana makes him take off the mask instead of trying to make him kill himself

Horror Game AU

The world went to shit while banana boi was out at the beginning

Some kind of parasites infected the entire population, turning everyone into abominations fused with whatever objects was the closest at the time

Mobsters, bounty hunters, ISPs, etc. were fused with their weapons

Mitch got merged with his van and became a nightmare fuel abomination that spits out explosive charges at you

Denny got "possessed" by his aircraft

The aircraft gained sentience with the parasites and took control of Denny

Denny is still human but is somewhat fused to his aircraft with dozens of parasitic tendrils

Ophelia has merged with the mech boss

She almost resembles a xenomorph

Enemies somewhat resemble the boss of their area

When our boi wakes up, he has no choice but to nope out his way through the entire game while being scared shitless

Got permanently tinyfied (pre-game) by a scientist who misfired an experimental shrinking ray

His strength didn't actually get altered so he can still literally kick ass

Always pissed, all the time

Don't patronize him, he hates it

DO NOT call him cute

Your funeral

He caused his amnesia by shoving a nail in his left ear (he is deaf in this ear)

Can actually be pretty chill when no one is around to judge him

He's about 30cm tall (about 12 inches)

Always carries a folding knife strapped to his back in case he ever gets picked up

Will stab anyone who dares pick him up without his permission

Ophelia saw him as an excellent hitman and got his guns shrunk too

Golem AU

Nickname: Terracotta

Pronouns: He/it

AU where Pedro dies early on and the Family puts his soul into an earth golem kind of thing

His body is mainly made of soil and rock and held together by plants that are growing on him

He can control the plants (to attack for exemple) and he feeds on terracotta pots and fertilizer

Pedro does not remember his previous life when he's first resurrected as a golem

I don't have much for this one, I came up with it pretty recently so this is all I got

Somewhere down the line tho, smth causes his memories to resurface, which drives him insane and he goes through his game rampage, killing his fam

He can change his appearance to look more human

But he rarely does it during fights as it requires a lot of focus and energy

He can do it more often in a casual setting, especially if it helps make the people around him at ease

When he's tired, he reverts to being a pile of dirt

He reforms when he wakes up

He sleeps in one of these giant terracotta pots

GodHunter AU

Name: GodHunter

Pronouns: He/them

Theme song: Godhunter - Aviators

Our boy used to be a god along with the entire family

The Incident was him getting kicked out of AstralHearth (the place where all gods live)

He was framed and accused of a crime he didn't commit, and was sentenced to Fall

He fell, lost all his powers and became a mortal

He spent the next 5 years searching for a way to get back up there and kill all the gods who wronged him

Because he lost the knowledge of his divine name, he took on the name GodHunter

During these 5 years he managed to kill a couple of minor gods and used their remains to craft a weapon able to hurt (and therefore kill) gods

The game is basically him getting back to AstralHearth and slaying everyone

Pedro the banana is a minor god that helped GodHunter during the 5 years

But its goal was to get into AstralHearth and get a place there

Which ultimately ends up in Pedro betraying GodHunter after his rampage

Astral's Bane is the name of GodHunter's weapon and is a basically a giant sword

Thanks to runes engraved on its blade, it drains a god's power whenever it strikes one

The drained power is stored in a gem located in the hilt

The power stored in the gem strengthen the sword, the more power it absorbs, the stronger it gets

After GodHunter's rampage, Astral's bane is practically unbreakable

When a god falls, their memories fade until they completely forget they used to be a god

In GodHunter's case, even though he's forgotten some details like his real name or what he was the god of, he still remembers being a god

He doesn't know exactly why he remembers but he has several hypothesis:

After he fell, the rage and need for vengeance that were driving him forward were so strong that they may have prevented him for losing his memories

As for after his rampage, his memories were potentially protected by the influence of Astral's Bane, which had absorbed enormous quantities of divine power at this point

This is one of the reason why he carries his sword everywhere

He used to have wings but when he fell, they "melted" down and became the decals on the back of his coat

AstralHearth is a realm located in the sky and hidden from mortals

Only gods can perceive and access it

GodHunter managed to get back up there thanks to a pair of enchanted boots he got from one of the minor gods he killed

And he managed to perceive and enter it with Pedro's help who lent him a fraction of its power

I remember being inspired for this AU from a Hollow Knight fanart featuring lyrics of this song written out, it was sick

And spoiler alert: GodHunter used to be the god of blacksmiths, hence why they were able to forge Astral's Bane themselves

Ghost AU

Nickname: Ghost

Pronouns: Any pronouns (Genderfluid)

Theme song: Ghost - Confetti

AU where Pedro dies (sniper headshot) a few months before the Incident and doesn't realize it for the longest time

Dying gave him a strong case of amnesia, he couldn't remember who he was, if he had any family and why everyone seemed to be ignoring him

Heard of the Family's dark side and decided to put an end to it

Because he never realized he was dead for so long, he got the ability to interact with physical objects

He can't interact with living beings except mediums and supernatural beings

It was a medium that he saved who explained everything to him in the middle of his rampage

It took him a while to accept his situation after it was revealed to him, but now he's a pretty enthusiastic ghost

He only falls back into depression if he's being asked about his death

If Ghost thinks too much about his death and starts depressing about it, he gets less see-through, his aura nearly disappears and he no longer floats

Doesn't like when people go through him

Will never possess someone without their consent

The black spot on his forehead is his death mark, it basically shows where he got shot

Cannot tell which way is up or which way is down when he closes his eyes, solely relies on vision to float right side up

That's why he usually starts floating upside down when sleeping

Most of the art of this guy is the same as Reborn's because they're always together, but I'll gather it anyway!

After Ophelia's death, the banana forcefully swapped places with Gon, trapping him in the magic thingy for all eternity

Gon's been stuck in here for super long

He's perpetually grumpy when summoned

And he begrudgingly grants wishes

"PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER!!! ᴵᵗᵗʸ ᵇᶦᵗᵗʸ ˡᶦᵛᶦⁿᵍ ˢᵖᵃᶜᵉ"

Cannot grant his own freedom

The banana is now walking around freely as a clone of Gon but entirely yellow

The magic thingy is a banana-themed teapot

The teapot is indestructible and is protected by magic

Gon cannot manifest out of the teapot unless he has a master
