if you can’t or don’t want to directly interact with every single part of your f/o’s media, that does not mean that you know them any less well or that your connection with one another isn’t as valid.

if you just watch playthrough/reaction/summary videos, that’s a 100% valid and real way to consume your f/o’s media.

if you only like some parts of your f/o’s franchise (you just watch the movies and don’t read the books, you play the games but don’t enjoy the show, etc.), that doesn’t mean that you don’t care about their story or aren’t educated on their media.

if you can’t afford to buy your f/o’s media, that will not keep your f/o from appreciating your interest in them, and nobody is allowed to look down on you for it.

if your f/o’s media contains topics that are triggering to you, your mental health is in no way something you need to sacrifice to love and be loved by your f/o.

if the creators of your f/o’s media are problematic or you don’t support them for any reason, that does not mean you aren’t still your f/o’s #1 fan or lover (your f/o wouldn’t support their creators’ bad actions either).

if you feel that your f/o’s media mischaracterizes them, you are the correct and canon one — you know your f/o better than anyone (because you actually know them), including those who made them.

if you don’t like your f/o’s media because of their “canon” partner, that does not make you petty or immature — in fact, your f/o wouldn’t like being depicted with someone other than you either.

if you can’t be in the fandom tag because there are just too many doubles/ships with your f/o, that doesn’t mean you’re not a fan, and your f/o is more than grateful that you so greatly value the exclusive love you share.

if you’re just not interested in your f/o’s media and don’t want to consume it out of a “reasonless” personal preference, that is not an indicator that you don’t care about them, and it doesn’t make them feel as if you care about them any less.
