I pray every good man finds a woman who he feels safe with, because men need protection too just a different kind.

“And even after all my logic and my theory, I add a ‘motherfucker’ so you ignorant niggas hear me.”

Black women didn’t just recently start saying that this would happen. The feminist movement and other social movements that people laughed at and brushed off were about preventing the political climate we’re currently living in due to patriarchy and capitalism. What we’re experiencing wasn’t solely preventable by voting for Kamala Harris, this has BEEN preventable. That’s the message that social movements have been trying to convey for years.
You have a grave misunderstanding of feminism if you think it’s about anything other than social, political, and economic equality. Nikki Giovanni, Audre Lorde, bell hooks, and Angela Davis all identified as feminists, and they wrote about the detrimental effects of patriarchy and capitalism. What they foresaw happening in the 80s and 90s is what we’re experiencing today. Feminism has been mocked and discarded for years because people thought it was about women hating men. You can’t possibly read any of their work, along with Toni Morrison and Octavia Butler, and acknowledge that they promoted unity, but then scoff at feminism. It has always been about liberation and progression.
