My eating disorder went from restrictive tendencies and minor binge eating to binge eating every day.
And I can confidently say 100% that restrictive tendencies are much better for my mental state than these constant binges. Sorry. I’ve never felt more depressed in my entire life than I have these past few months.

Simple tips/hacks that will make a HUGE difference 🌟🌻💛
(note: these tips/hacks have helped me so much and it may not be the case for you. don’t get mad at me if they don’t help you, I’m just sharing incase it does help someone)
For drinking water:
• Having a really cute water bottle will help you drink more water throughout the day. When something is cute, you want to keep it with you. I always carry around my water bottle because it’s SO nice looking. And if I have it, why not drink it? It’s become such a habit now!
• Get an insulated water bottle!!! This one helped me SO MUCH! I don’t like to drink water unless it’s ice cold, but even if I bring my water to the mall with me and leave it in the hot car, it’s still cold when I come back! It really encourages me to drink water.
• Have a goal in mind. Set a goal like twelve bottles a day or ten, etc. You’ll be encouraged more to hit that goal if you have it in the back of your head.
Tips for binging urges:
When you want to binge, I know there’s lots of appetite suppressants like gum and black coffee and lemon juice. HOWEVER, I find that even those things don’t help and just make me want to binge more.
When you want to binge, go to the kitchen, make yourself a SMALL meal or one that is very low calorie, take it to your bedroom and eat it at your desk or anyplace AWAY FROM THE KITCHEN. Then, you would feel guilty for binging because you already ate. And usually, if I eat it slow enough, it fills me and makes me realize that I don’t want to binge, I just needed a little something.
fasting tips 💦
Fasting is SO difficult, but so worth it! But if you want to do it right, it can be so challenging. Some tips that can help make fasting a more pleasant experience are….
When thinking about fasting, choose your day(s) wisely. Pick a day that you know you might not have much time to eat anyway, such as a day where you’re in the car for a while.
Another thing about choosing your days: DO NOT pick a day to fast when you know you have a party or gathering that there will be food at! If you fast, then go and see all the food, you are very likely to indulge in it and binge because you feel empty and have the excuse: “I haven’t eaten anything so this won’t be that bad” & before you know it, you’ve binged and broke your fast which feels awful.
If you choose to eat a little bit before the event and eat your regular calories for the day, when you are at the event, you will already feel the guilt you’d feel after because you KNOW you’ve already eaten. You will have more self control and feel less hungry.
GENERAL TIPS
keep a journal:
I find it so much easier to stay consistent when I keep a journal/log of what I eat and how many calories I’ve had. This makes it easier for me to look back and see when my last fast was and look back to see my patterns.
Distract yourself
I know people say this one all the time, but if you are craving or wanting to binge, once you get doing something, you typically forget about it.
Do something enjoyable, too. Not something that is so dreadful, you’ll think about eating because it’s better (homework, cleaning for some people).
Take a walk or read a book or shower or even write a story. These things require your time and energy, but they aren’t really dreadful tasks. You’re more likely to forget about your craving if you’re doing something you want to do.
Working out is so rewarding
I find working out SO rewarding and I feel amazing after it.
I always feel like I’ve done something right after
If you get into a daily workout routine, it really can make it fun. I LOVE waking up in the morning and working out before I even leave my bedroom. It feels amazing after and I know I’ve started my day right.
