Another busy study day in SK. Got in another five study chapters and took the scenic route to a new favourite café! Also almost finished another physical read but got horrendously distracted by my criminal minds rewatch...

hello from my comfort/messy desk!!! it’s now 1230am. i mentioned awhile ago that i would be revising my study method. i wanted to be more efficient with my studying since it’s HARD to study before or after doing 12 hours of shift. i’m almost done with GIT so all is good so far! i’ll turn in at 2/3am.
for tomorrow i have a couple of chores to do but i’ll take them slow and not exhaust myself.
i’m also using ypt app to track and record my daily progress. it has a pomodoro timer, café background sounds, it blocks the other apps when you are on focus mode, and it’s FREE. 😭🫶🏼

I’m on Duty today (8am-5pm online, 6pm-6am on duty in the hospital). I decided to start a 30-day challenge where I try to form good habits like reading for 15 minutes a day, studying for 1 hour, workout — but after fulfilling the habits I wanted to form, I’m exhausted and it’s only noon. My main goal is not to exhaust myself prior to duty because the duty itself is extremely exhausting especially that we are on solo posts at night so I’ll be doing all the work — writing prescriptions, extractions/insertions, monitoring, doing clinical abstracts and discharge summaries, etc. this would be easier if I were just a normal student studying for exams, but I’m no longer one. Forcing the good habits I want to form will just backfire so I might tweak my challenge and prioritize conserving energy for duty and focus more on sustainable, low-energy tasks in between duties.
Another thing I’d like to focus more on is eating healthy. The past few days I had been feeding myself garbage because our duties were draining the life out of me. But it’s alright. Our lives are not normal, so we do what we can.
Today I had a pour-over coffee with minimal milk this morning, then veggies and a chicken for lunch. Now I’m on my bed resting, sipping a yummy protein drink before I get up at 1pm and do an arm workout, relax, prep for duty at 3pm, and leave around 430pm because travel time takes an hour and a half.
This is one step towards eating healthy and forming sustainable habits, no matter how small they are.

Finally got my nails done after like six weeks, and decided to treat myself to an extended cafe trip after to finish up another Elena Ferrante book. She's quickly becoming a favorite author and if you haven't read The Neopolitan Novels yet (starting with My Brilliant Friend) I'd highly recommend!
