why on earth would you like mineta? hes everything wrong with men, his character perpetuates rape culture and is really harmful. anyways just my opinion, but if you could actually provide why you like him, that would be nice ^_^

Okay, I’m going to list some things why I think the whole Mineta hate in the western fanbase is unnecessary/just plain dumb.

Your point that Mineta “perpetuates rape culture” is kind of pulled out of a hat in my opinion. Yes, I am aware that that one line from chapter 89 could be picked up as “rapey”, but honestly, did he ever do something suspicious like that? Harassing a girl to the point that he actually could be plotting to rape her? And honestly, let’s be realistic, he’s 3'2 feet tall and every girl that has appeared so far has a dead ass strong quirk so I’m sure if, and I’m saying if, Mineta wanted to rape one of them they could protect themselves. Plus, consider that BNHA is a shonen manga, for teens, and Horikoshi likes Mineta, so why would he make him a character that seriously wants to rape someone haha

Then, lots of people who dislike Mineta use the fact that he’s perverted towards girls as an argument to hate him. I can completely understand that to be honest, I’m not telling you to love perverted characters, I get it if you don’t like them in general but please, there are tons of perverts in anime and I’ve never seen so many people hating on those than I’ve seen hate towards Mineta (as other examples, I’m gonna say Happosai from Ranma ½ and that one dude from Naruto, I forgot his name. Happosai not only harassed girls by looking under their skirts, grabbing their boobs etc but also stole their underwear and he’s like, a grandpa. And I still like him because he’s funny.) What I’m trying to say is, I don’t understand why Mineta is such a target for people to hate on while the perverseness of other characters is being overlooked.

I’ve also seen lots of people saying Mineta is useless. He might be less of an use than Deku, Bakugou and Kirishima and the other main characters, but he isn’t useless all the way. In chapter 15 for example, when he made the villains stick together. Sure, it wasn’t necessary and didn’t influence the outcome of the whole situation as much as Deku did by using his quirk, but it helped, and that’s what people seem to forget when they say he’s useless (same at the midterms when he made him and Sero pass the exam). He might not be the strongest and most skilled but he’s trying to help.

Not everyone’s quirk is suited for combat, and I don’t think that’s a valid reason to hate someone. He also hasn’t had much character development yet, I am aware of that, but if he gets his own arc with development and people just ignore it, I’ll be very pissed off lmao. It also upsets me when I see people calling Endeavor an asshole after he told Todoroki he was proud of him (please be open for all kinds of character development, I’m begging you. It doesn’t matter if you like the character or not, just please.)

Apparently, Mineta seems to be very popular among the Japanese fanbase which I’m really glad about. (source: reddit) Horikoshi stated himself that he can relate to Mineta and likes him, and judging from my own opinions and experiences, I can’t say that it must feel nice when almost everyone hates the character you can connect with. 

I’m trying to say that stuff like this is just completely unnecessary, inconsiderate and extremely rude. As I said, Horikoshi likes Mineta, so why in the world would he erase him from the anime, and I bet the author of that petition knows that damn too well themselves and just put that up to troll.

I’m not trying to make you like Mineta with this, I just wanted to say what’s been on my mind lately seeing all those hate posts about him. I know that the majority of the fandom doesn’t appreciate him, but I really wish people wouldn’t post things about him including death threats, censoring him and complaining when he’s in official art?? I just really hope that Mineta gets an arc soon and some constructive character development so people become warmer regarding him. And please let people like Mineta, I wish I was able to scroll through the Mineta tag and don’t see more hate posts that actual nice posts about him because that is currently the case.

It’s okay for you to not like Mineta, all I wanted to do with this post was to point out some things that have been bothering me when people talked badly about him, it’s not here to change your opinion about him. I won’t send you hate mail or call you names because you dislike him, but @ the haters, please don’t do that to people who like him either. Just please be considerate of other people and let them enjoy things stuff they like!! And it’s okay if you don’t like Mineta at all and don’t like seeing me talking about him, feel free to unfollow me or softblock me at any time, if it makes you happier, then please do.

(The person who sent me this ask wanted me to state why I like him, so here I go:I like Mineta because I think he’s funny, and also cute in some way regarding his design. Just like Horikoshi, I can relate to him as well. About his quirk, I don’t think it’s useless at all, it might not be too helpful in combat but it’s very versatile when rescuing people for example (ensuring that buildings won’t collapse/fix things together/stick weapons to the ground/climbing up stuff/etc. Long story short, I think he’d actually be a great sidekick. Plus, he’s 15, he’s in puberty like all the others, he has enough time to change and stop that pervy behavior. I don’t mind that he’s a pervert but I do think he’s overdoing it at some points. Anyways, I think he’s a good comedic relief and I’m really glad at least the Japanese fanbase likes him, even though I wish people in the western fanbase who like him were as open as the people who hate him. 

But honestly, I don’t dislike or hate anyone in BNHA, not Mineta, nor Endeavour, or any of the Villains, I love them all haha)

1. They made McCree straight (eventhough his sexuality was never confirmed)

No, I do not know when exactly her family “hired” B.O.B., but it would have been after the Omnic Crisis ended in approximately 2050.  She would have been 13 when the war ended.
