No you’re not, this is worse than the time I accidentally snapped your lightsaber and you cried and hit me with it. And you didn’t eat the cronuts Rosy bought so something has to be up. You’re a terrible liar Caleb Hannigan.

At any rate at least Caleb was being honest, Noah knew that much. Even if it was kind of a shitty answer. He was torn; between giving up and giving in, just letting it happen and forgetting what he really felt about it all, and saying no, stopping it all before he got too far. Not because he was worried about what Caleb would do, he was drunk, but he wasn’t that drunk, but because he was worried about what he would do. Kissing him was ok, it didn’t have to mean anything, but Noah didn’t know how to stop himself from thinking it did. He had, for a moment, decided he would stop, that he would say no that’s enough. But the words died in his mouth when Caleb kissed him again.
It was clumsy and he cringed as their teeth clashed somewhere in between the mess of lips. But he liked it, and though he was trying to convince himself that he didn’t, he wanted it. In fact he hadn’t actually realised how much until a small gasp left his mouth before he knew it was even there. He felt his face grow warm, pink colouring his cheekbones, and was privately glad when Caleb pulled away. Usually embarrassing himself wasn’t a problem, he was careful not to do anything stupid, it made him feel even stupider to think that he was making a fool of himself now. Not that he quite knew why he cared.
“Yes,” he finally got out, nodding slowly, though he was glad Caleb still kept one hand round the back of his neck, it was oddly comforting, and was perhaps just enough now they weren’t kissing anymore. He couldn’t help but make a face, already regretting his answer even though deep down he knew it was right, and it would be better in the long run. Though he thought that now it might be too late, so what was the point really?
“Um ok,” he said, thinking it a rather odd request, but he didn’t see why not. He figured Caleb was probably just still dizzy, so carefully, though he’d lost the majority of his coordination due to drinking, so it wasn’t so careful in the end. Tentatively, though now he felt a little more awkward for some reason, he reached out and placed his own hand on Caleb’s face, lightly, studying the skin beneath his palm intently. His heart was hammering so hard, which was only partly to do with the alcohol, he was sure it was audible. Screwing his eyes shut he grimaced to himself, wanting to pull his hand away before it was torn away for him. Desperately scared that he was making the other man uncomfortable.
As the other man insisted that they stop, Caleb let his hand fall away from where it resided in Noah’s hair, his fingers immediately missing the feeling of being entangled in the messy curls there. He swallowed roughly and waited for the other man to tell him off, but it appeared as if Noah was simply trying to get his breath back. Caleb could empathise, his own chest feeling tight as he let out small gentle pants, cheeks flushed and breathing ragged. Brown eyes kept darting towards the door as the party continued outside, but he forced himself to relax.
The need to lie down wouldn’t leave him and so he sent the man the ghost of a grateful smile when he said they could, prompting Caleb to clumsily shuffle further up the bed until his head hit the pillows behind him. The suggestion had been nothing less than innocent, the idea of going further with the other man not even a possible idea to entertain, despite the stirrings in his stomach that had caused him to clamp a firm hand over his torso, as if to satiate the sensation. Besides, Noah was a guy and not a girl, and all he’d done was kiss him. It didn’t mean anything.
The world seemed a lot better as he lay flat on his back and he had barely even noticed that Noah had taken up residence beside him until he felt the man’s hot breath blow over the side of his face. He looked up at the ceiling, spotting the neon-green glow of a star print up there. At once, his face lit up happily and he began to excitedly nudge Noah.
“They have glow in the dark stars!” he exclaimed, pointing up at them enthusiastically before the sudden movement took its toll on him and his arm flopped uselessly by his side again. He let out a gentle sigh, the alcohol in his system not warming him in the same way it usually did. Perhaps that had something to do with the open window, letting the noises of the street trickle in from outside. There was nothing more than a car driving past or a dog barking, but it was oddly comforting to know that there were things outside that existed beyond himself and the man lying next to him, because concentrating on just the two of them scared Caleb.
“M’tired and you’re comfy,” he mumbled, scooting closer to the warmth that radiated from Noah’s body and pressing his face into the man’s shirt. It smelled of a particular cologne that he hadn’t smelt before but decided he liked, and as he pressed himself up against the blonde’s side, his shivers were kept at bay.
“I’m just gonna… close my eyes for a sec,” he murmured quietly, eyelids fluttering shut, true to his words.

He watched closely as Caleb nodded eagerly in response to his question. At least now he knew what it meant, and he could appropriately match his own sentiments to the man sitting opposite him. It was nothing, just something to laugh about later, which was fine. Noah could do that. It had just just been a kiss, it wouldn’t be so hard to convince himself that he hadn’t felt anything but surprise. And with any luck the three bottles of beer he had drunk before he had come into the bedroom would help blur the memory so by the next day he could scarcely remember the precise shade of brown Caleb’s eyes were, and just how nice it had felt to have his lips pressed against his, however briefly it happened for.
“Ok, that’s ok,” he noted, moving away from Caleb a little. The words were more to remind himself than anything else, to remind himself of the surety with which Caleb had confirmed that he was in fact straight. For someone whose own sexuality had been the subject of much speculation (his own and of others), he didn’t want to second guess his answer, or to convince himself there was more to it.
Caleb seemed hell bent on confusing Noah as he asked him if he could try ‘that’ again, and he didn’t make any pretenses that he didn’t know what ‘that’ was. The nod; the affirmation of yes, you can came all too readily to the curly haired man. This time he thought he was ready, for what it would feel like, but the urgency he kissed with this time made Noah’s heart clench painfully in a way he wasn’t sure he’d ever felt before. Taking his cues from Caleb, mirroring his actions he let his hand settle on the back of his neck, bringing him closer but all the while still so aware that at any moment the other man could just pull away and ruin everything. In the end though it was Noah that broke the kiss, a confused frown on his face.
That wasn’t the kiss of someone who just wanted to know what it was like to kiss another man. And if it was, he wasn’t so sure he wanted to be a part of some stupid frat boy experiment. Even if he really didn’t mind the actual kissing.
“What are you doing?” he asked, dropping his hands and shaking his head, the frown deepening. He hoped he wouldn’t give him some bullshit answer, because even if it wasn’t the answer that he wanted to hear; that really he had just wanted to kiss Noah, at least then it would be the truth.
Caleb hadn’t even thought to ponder on the sexuality of the other guy, but given the way Noah had kissed him back without hesitation, he figured that he was probably into guys. Or maybe he was just as drunk as Caleb and could hide it that little bit better. In any case, the brunette tried not to think on it too much, knowing that, if he did, the idea of kissing a guy who was into other guys would only serve to make him feel uncomfortable, because then what would that make him?
Deciding that it was the alcohol doing the talking for him, his hand remained wound through Noah’s curls, soft and silky beneath his fingers and, after hearing the man’s question, all Caleb could do was let out the tiniest disbelieving laugh.
“Um, I don’t know,” he said, truthfully. The room seemed to be stuck on a permanent tilt, which didn’t help matters when Caleb cocked his head to the side. To keep the heart-stopping feeling of falling at bay, Caleb quickly moved forward to once again kiss Noah, merging their lips together messily and somehow finding it in himself to forget about the repercussions that his actions could bring. All he knew was that he was drunk as hell, couldn’t find the people he’d came to the party with and liked the feeling of Noah’s lips on his.
The stir of arousal in his stomach had yet to leave him and, at once, he was glad for how drunk he was, so it dulled the sensation and didn’t heighten his senses and make his reaction… physically obvious. While he wouldn’t feel the embarrassment until the next morning, he’d still rather not humiliate himself in front of the sharp jawed, blue eyed guy that he was kissing. Why Noah’s opinion was something he thought so highly of so suddenly, he didn’t know, but he was willing to go with it and gently brushed his nose against the other man’s.
“Do… you want me to stop?” he asked shyly, mouth pulling into a pout as his hand moved down to play with the curls at the nape of Noah’s neck. Glancing towards the door, he fought to remember whether or not it had been locked. Should anyone walk in and find Caleb, of all people, kissing a guy, of all genders, he would just die, but that didn’t necessarily mean he wanted to stop.
“Can we lie down?” he murmured against Noah’s lips. Maybe that would make the room stop spinning.

noahswilder:
Half of Noah felt kind of bad for Caleb, who was still swaying gently as if moved by some imaginary breeze that Noah couldn’t feel. He clearly couldn’t hold his alcohol, but what Noah didn’t know was why he had thrust the responsibility of mothering him upon himself. The other half was endeared, but again he didn’t really know why. Probably because there was something slightly adorable about the way he stuck his pinky finger out in a way Noah hadn’t seen since he had been a child running about the playground.
Knowing how drunk the other man really was, despite his insistence that he was fine he shouldn’t have found it very surprising when he fell against his chest. And the expected thing to do would have been to take him by the shoulders, as he had done, and set him upright again. But he was struck by the closeness of their faces, and that he was sure he could feel their noses brush and from the smell of alcohol that he could now detect he knew he wasn’t just imaging things. He should have moved away because what usually followed couldn’t, and shouldn’t happen.
But it did. Too quick for Noah to realise what had happened until it was over. But it had happened, and the most surprising thing of all was how much he liked it, which was not something he could have ever predicted or guessed. Especially not ten minutes ago when Caleb had only been the dorky guy who was trying to open a bottle of beer with his bare hands. Gawping, open mouthed, and blinking rapidly he tried to knock some sense back into his head, to find the appropriate response.
At his words Noah bit back what he really wanted to say, what he really wanted to do. Not just because he wasn’t sure whether it had been some kiss spurned on by innocent curiosity, but because he didn’t want to do that when alcohol was stopping Caleb from thinking straight.
“Because you’re straight?” he asked, carefully and slowly, choosing his words as the most polite way he could find the answer to the question that was burning in his mind. Not that he was too sure he really wanted to know the answer. Not when he could feel himself starting to think things he really, really, shouldn’t.
In all honesty, Caleb had no idea what had come over him. One moment he had been dangerously close to swaying too much and toppling off the bed and the next, he had been kissing Noah. Even when he was drunk and in the company of another girl he had never been so eager to just kiss someone like that and the realisation confused him, prompting him to blink a few times with puzzlement clearly etched across his face.
The other man was staring at him with such an intense scrutiny that Caleb felt himself duck his head just so he could shy away from the gaze of the man. Although unseeing of it, he still felt Noah’s eyes boring into the top of his head and realised that he could imagine the bright blue colour of them staring at him in astonishment. It caused something to stir in the pit of his stomach and he unthinkingly placed a hand over his abdomen as if to calm the familiar and yet unfamiliar sensation.
He found himself nodding frantically at the man’s question, wanting to hastily reassure both of them of the affirmative. Caleb was obviously straight, there had never been any doubt in his mind of that, not even when he was at the gym and finding himself staring at the shining torsos and sleek builds of the other men. Whenever one of the other guys caught him, he’d been sorry and had to make stuttered apologies whilst blushing like a tomato. Upon reflection, he always told himself that he was simply jealous of how the other men looked, knowing that his own frame would never look that good seeing as two minutes on the treadmill left him lying on the floor and dramatically pleading for mercy.
In any case, sitting on top of rumpled sheets belonging to a bed that was not his own, with a man that he had never even met before tonight, Caleb decided that it was not the time for a sexuality crisis. Hastily, he reassured himself that’s not what this whole situation was, for he was confident in his stance that he was solely heterosexual. The comforting buzz of the alcohol running through him helped him relax, aided his brain in telling him that it had just been a while since he had kissed anyone and drunken kisses hardly ever counted as any sort of real kiss.
“Can I just… try that again?” he asked, quietly, leaning in to kiss Noah once more. This time he didn’t hesitate to let his lips linger, one hand reaching up to trail a finger along the jawline he’d been staring at so intently earlier. Reaching the end of it, his hand found soft curls that it immediately pushed into, lips urgently pressing against Noah’s again in a deeper kiss.
