lest-i-forget:
A…. date….?
“….Eh?”
“W-Wait, no-! I was just-!” He didn’t mean to imply anything like that!!
Ahh, what was he going to do now? Was she going to be mad? Should he have been clearer about what he meant? He didn’t want to hurt her feelings! He just wanted to do something to cheer her up, but he went ahead and said something misleading, and…
And…. it was only a joke.
“…Oh.” he said, his nervous energy deflating. Crisis averted… Apparently.
“Uh… Yeah, you know, even if it’s just going out to eat with a friend, I think I’d still like wash up a bit,” he said. While he didn’t think he’d gotten much dirt on his clothes, he knew his hands were probably dirty, at the very least. “Thank you.”
After she finished showering and changing into some clean clothes, Rachel tied her hair up into a ponytail and went to the front door to put on some shoes. She couldn’t think of the last time she had gone out for lunch, usually staying at home and cooking something or bringing food home from the cafe. So, going out for a change was rather exciting. At least, for a girl like Rachel.
“Ready whenever you are, Lest! Any plans on where we’re gonna go eat?”

lest-i-forget:
Ashes to Ashes, Leaves to Snow|| [[Lest + Rachel]]
Greenhill farm had been back for a while now. It was like it had never been burned to begin with. As an employee, Lest felt bad that he couldn’t have contributed more to its restoration… But he had been as strapped for cash as ever, and being down one job certainly didn’t help.
Well, that just meant that Lest had to work even harder now that things were back to normal! Still, as leaves fell from the trees, signaling winter’s fast approach, he couldn’t help but wonder if he’d really paid Rachel back at all. After all, she had always done such kind things for him. Her lasagna was one of a kind. He wished he could cook something up for her, but he didn’t have a kitchen.
(He would have if he’d moved in with her. He tried not to think on that, as well as the flakey reasons he had turned her down. It was probably for the best, in the end, what with his own future being so uncertain. And besides, he was pretty sure Pandora would get into more trouble if he wasn’t there to reign her in from time to time.)
After thinking on it for a while, Lest eventually decided that he had to do something. And so, just before the end of his shift, he brought up his idea to Rachel at work.
“Hey, you know, I don’t think we ever properly celebrated the farm being restored,” he said. “After work, do you want to go out to eat somewhere? My treat.”

The work that needed to be put into turning the scorched farmland back into something that could grow life was unreal. However, it needed to be done in time to get the land ready for the winter season of flowers, and Rachel knew that with a little bit of elbow grease and sweat, she’d be able to turn things around right on time. Of course, it also helped that she had her right hand man back to help out. Lest was always a hardworking employee, and Rachel always knew that she could count on him when she needed to.
The day of work had been long, as they always were now that the new season approached and work needed to be done. Rachel used the sleeve of her work flannel to wipe the sweat from her temple and forehead, then turned to look at Lest with surprise at the offer.

“Lest, are you asking me out on a date~?” she asked, her teasing evident in her voice. She laughed and waved her hand dismissively, shaking away the joke. “I’m kidding~! Yes, I’d love to go eat somewhere! Let me just go shower and get changed, alright? You can use the hallway bathroom to freshen up, if you want, just take off your shoes before going in the house!”
With that, Rachel hurried inside of the farmhouse to her bedroom, eager for the chance to go and eat out somewhere with a friend.

Perfectly crispy potato skins topped with cheese, bacon, and green onion with a sour cream dipping sauce on the side... What’s not to love? Thankfully, Rachel’s care and consideration with her food lead to a perfect dish.

Despite the setback of moving back to the farm--now that the house was rebuilt-- and getting back on her feet after losing all of her belongings, Rachel still managed to save up and buy a nice dress to wear to the event. Since it was on Arcadia, she at least didn’t have to worry about travel costs... A part of her wondered if she had the time to be slacking off at a party, or if she ought to be getting the most out of what was left of autumn for the farm.

Fainting Spell || Open
She hadn’t been feeling great for a while now. Ever since the farm was destroyed and she was forced to live on Leuda while reconstruction efforts took place. She felt so drained. Sleeping the day away became a frequent occurrence. It bothered her. She didn’t want to go back to the way she was at home. She needed answers.
She was on her way to the clinic, perhaps the doctors here were better than the ones at home. Or so she hoped. The summer heat didn’t help, draining her further. She only meant to sit down on the bench for a second and catch her breath. Instead she fell to the side, slumping over and passed out cold. At least she had a light landing.
Rachel had just gotten off of a long and tiresome shift at the cafe, and trudging home in a cotton tee shirt and shorts after wearing a maid costume all day had the blonde dragging her feet. Like many displaced Arcadians who held magic within them, being on Leuda felt exhausting. Even just standing around had Rachel on the verge of a headache at all time.
On the way back to the hotel, Rachel stopped when she thought she spotted someone familiar. The brown hair, the cute bandanna on her head, that had to be Celia, right? Though they hadn’t met officially, Rachel had seen her on Jack’s farm before, and Jack had mentioned her plenty. As Rachel came closer, though, she noticed the odd posture of the girl lying on the bench and she hurried over to crouch beside Celia.

“Celia!” Rachel reached her hand out to feel the girl’s forehead and pulled it back immediately with a gasp. “Oh, you’re burning up!” She lightly patted the girl’s cheek and then shook her shoulder to try and rouse her. “Celia, get up! Wake up! I gotta get you to the clinic!”

Pulling Doubles || Open
“I need some more coffee...”
Rachel leaned both of her hands flat against the counter as she stood behind the register of the Starry Sky Cafe on Leuda. Ever since what happened to her farm, Rachel had to make up for the lost income (especially since she went on a shopping binge to try and make herself feel better). Since she accepted the loan from Funland, the farm was in the process of being repaired, but she needed to have enough money to keep herself going for when the farm was ready to start up again. That meant she needed to work longer shifts at the cafe in order to bring in the business, unfortunately.
The blonde moved to the espresso machine and began to brew herself a drink, idly making it as though in a tired haze, moving without any change in exhausted facial features. She hardly even noticed the customer come to the counter until she caught them in her peripheral vision.

“Oh, Goddess, sorry! I didn’t even see you there. Is there something I can help you with?”

Shopping Spree
Maybe a shopping spree wasn’t the smartest way to get over having your house turned into a crisp. However, it seemed to make Rachel feel better. That was what mattered, right? Plus, it was good to put money back into the cycle. At least, these were the things Rachel told herself to justify all of the purchases.
