I'm such a huge fan of the Ben Cooper brand. This was the standard for Halloween costumes when I was growing up! #BenCooper #Halloween

Ben Cooper costumes. There were three big Halloween costume retailers years back, Ben Cooper having the distinction of being dubbed "The Halston of Halloween" by the press. People will joke about how hokey and uncomfortable the costumes are today, but they really were all the rage and kids could easily afford them with pocket money. I do recall going Trick 'r Treating as The Creature From The Black Lagoon when I was very little, likely back in '82. "Revenge of The Creature" had just aired in 3-D on TV that summer, and I'm sure that influenced by costume choice. I recently attended a screening at The Museum of The Moving Image out in Queens, and reissues of the Godzilla mask pictured above as well as a Gremlins one were for sale in the gift shop.

If any of y'all have showtime I highly recommend the show Kidding, with Jim Carrey. I have never ever seen a show that deals with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, child death, and a little bit of queer issues like this show does. Of course it's cancelled after only 2 seasons...but if you have the chance and the emotional bandwidth...please watch it.

Kidding…is one of the most unique things i’ve ever watched; it is so absurdly comical, it’s dark humor but with a sort of gentle ease into it that makes it so that you can’t help but embrace it and hold it all with love. It’s terribly, awfully, embarassingly human, heartbreakingly and achingly so, and poetic, and kind, like a child’s hand reaching out to hold yours when you’re sad. It’s so bittersweet. The unsuspecting manner it breaches its way into you…it’s profoundly moving. It takes on pain with a benevolent understanding, a tenderness so delicate at times you feel you’re about to break into pieces. The raw nature of feelings is so bravely depicted and I just think it’s so important to see something like this penned and wrapped with radiating compassion…!! What a superb tribute to what it’s like being human. A beautiful, sad, kindness.

This was a great couple of weeks of shooting #Kidding. In this scene, I got to sing alongside Jim and Ariana for this beautiful song. Ennui was having an issue with his mouth mech and you can barely see me singing in this take. All great things though.
