He nodded and yawned, stretching up and back a bit before letting his arms swing back to his sides then slide his hands up Nick's arms. "Yeah, I feel like I'm about to pass out." He leaned in and kissed him again, melting a little against him. "I love you." He murmured, smiling before slipping away toward the bedroom.

He stood and squeezed Nick's hands. "Yeah, that's fine, that's- that's fine." He nodded and smiled, looking at him with bright eyes. Nick showing interest in his son was a good feeling to Dan, settling some of his constant inner worry.

"I suppose whenever you go through periods of transition, or in a way, it’s a very definite closing of a certain chapter of your life - I suppose those times are always going to be both very upsetting and also very exciting by the very nature because things are changing and you don’t know what’s going to happen."

He lowered his eyes and let himself be comforted by the touch, taking a slow breath and listening. He blinked and looked up abruptly when Nick finished, staring at him intently. "Really? She wants you to? You- you should, I think that'd be really great," he encouraged eagerly, holding both of Nick's hands and rubbing them affectionately with his thumbs.

He smiled a bit at first, but it started to fade with the rest of the news. "Ah... yeah. It's probably really weird right now..." He cleared his throat, looking uneasy. "Um, how's Carter?" He asked quickly, the shift in thought allowing another smile to mask his emotions.

He feels Nick at his side and looks up at him. "Mhmm." He faced him a little more directly from his chair and took his hand, giving a little pull so he'd lean down and kiss him. "How was your day? Do anything with the time off?"

"I was lucky enough to meet Neil Patrick Harris a couple of times and he’s great. He would have been great [hosting Letterman], because he’s a very charming, relaxed, easy-going guy, and that’s why he’s such a great host at the Tonys.”

He smiled and walked past him through the bedroom to the bathroom, showering a little longer than usual and shaking the water from his hair when he stepped back out and changing into his usual sweater and pants. He leisurely returned to the living room, passed Nick on the couch and went to make some chicken toast, not up to doing anything else until the bar was at least green again, relaxing back in the chair after the finished meal.

"Yeah, mm, it was fine. I found a paint can that wasn't supposed to be there and I investigated, but..." He held up a hand that was pretty badly paint-covered, considerably worse than even Nick's constantly stained hands. "I'm going to shower and then I'll have something to eat."

Dan had headed off to work as he did every day at 9:30am, usually with Nick in tow but not always. (He was the boss after all.) When late afternoon rolled around he headed back down past Lucy's house (an awkward location he was working on ignoring) and the car dealership back to his house, stepping inside with a hopeful sweep of his eyes. His heart jumped with the enthusiastic greeting and he smiled with the relief seeing Nick at home always gave him. 

"Sul-sul!" He waved. "Flargalarg yakkitoo, ziwa? Hoooo....!" He reached around and hugged Nick to him hard. [SELECT - Be Romantic... - Tender Embrace]

Dan had work all day, and it was somewhat convenient that Nick didn’t as well -despite the fact that they worked at the same place. He had spent the day at Lucy’s with their son, enduring the awkward conversation and her constant Flargy Narg-ing until he had to head home in time to be there when the other got back. 

It wasn’t so much of a rush, however, and the time he had to spare was spent attempting not to break the computer Dan had so recently fixed and trying out every book he could manage from the shelf in their room. He only heard the door open just as he was shuffling into the living room with a few books in tow, rushing over to Dan with the intent of conversation.

"Sul-sul!" he greeted, all perfect teeth and too much energy. "Flargalarg yakkito!"
