I spent the week in New York organizing an ASICS Pan-European press trip for the New York City marathon. 13 lifestyle journalists from across Europe all took part in the 26.2 mile race, which is regarded as the biggest of the World Marathon Majors. ASICS has been a proud partner of the event for the past 16 years and in the 2013 event, it was recorded that 50% of runners who crossed the finishing line we wearing a pair of ASICS trainers.
As part of the trip, the journalist were invited to take part in a special pre-marathon morning run around Central Park with European Champion Viktor Rothlin and we were also joined by Olympic Champion Stefano Baldini.

My family have lived in Eastbourne for over 15 years, so as you can imagine I was really sad to hear the news earlier this week about the fire on Eastbourne Pier. All of our neighbours went down to the beach to take snaps of the inferno and watch the dramatic events unfold.
The Mail Online targeted this beach goer for sharing inappropriate images laughing and posing against the burning backdrop- however I think its ridiculous as the pictures are harmless and clearly a bit of fun.

A lorry carrying a huge model octopus caused traffic chaos this morning when it broke down right in the middle of Oxford Circus.
The vehicle came to a standstill in the middle of the busy Oxford Street/ Regent Street junction causing the roads to grind to a hault for over 40 mins.
A spokesman for Betfair confirmed that the octopus had been used as a prop in an advert to be screened during the World Cup and deeply apologised for the inconvenience caused.
It wasn't long before 'Octopus' was trending nationwide on twitter and the speculation mounted to whether this was the best crafted PR stunt of the year, or an idea which had gone horribly wrong...

This is by far the funniest PR story of 2014. Self confessed 'hair enthusiast' Rake Ali sparked an internet frenzy earlier this week as he managed to rack up more than 8,000 votes in the latest JD PR campaign to 'Find the Face of JD Sports'.The unconventional 'model' lead the voting from the outset after he was nominated as a joke by his friends.
According to the Metro and Mirror.co.uk, JD Sports will have the final say in who wins the competition, but either way this has certainly captured the imagination of the British public. Well done JD, I think this is the best PR campaign i've seen from you in a long time.

This morning I was down at London South Bank University with four members of the Crazy Dunker acrobatic team. The team are involved in Foot Locker's 'Approved Heat' campaign, which celebrates the hottest basketball products which are released throughout the month of February.
We spend the whole day with the Dunkers and DHP to generate content for the digital campaign.

My younger sister Emily has been involved in the latest Nokia campaign for the new Nokia Lumia 925. In order to promote the Action Shot feature in the camera, the team at Nokia took some sequence shots of Emily warming up at a local boxing club. The images have been really well received on social media and will hopefully be exhibited later this year so watch this space.

On Wednesday I went to Wembley arena to see the England Netball team take on South Africa in the International Netball Series.
It's been a while since I played netball, so I was really impressed to see over 5,000 fans pack the stadium, cheering and chanting throughout the match. The game has certainly modernised over the past five years- all the players were welcomed onto court in true X-Factor style as their entrance was marked with large fire cannons and special effects- similar to a pop concert. Long gone is the stigma of netball being a 'delicate, schoolgirl sport'- this game was fast, aggressive and the stamina displayed from both teams was pretty impressive.
England 51- South Africa 33.

Battersea Power Station was covered in clouds of rainbow colours this weekend, as me and my friends took part in the Holi Festival of Colours.
Holi is traditionally a Hindu Festival which celebrates the victory of good over bad and marks the beginning of spring. This was the first time a major event of this kind had been emulated in the UK and on the whole we had a really fun afternoon- throwing coloured powder over complete strangers and clubbing against the backdrop of Battersea Power Station.
With the Colour Run also proving very popular amongst novice runners, I think this wont be the end of the colour craze.

RIVALRIES ARE BORN; THEY NEVER DIE
On Tuesday afternoon, I visited Emirates Old Trafford to organise a media activity in association with Cricket Australia and leading sports performance brand, ASICS.
ASICS, who are the official footwear and apparel sponsor of Cricket Australia, were lucky enough to secure some time with Australian captain, Michael Clarke and Vice-captain Brad Haddin ahead of the Ashes Third Test.
Journalists form the UK and Australia gathered at the new state-of-the-art cricket ground to speak to the players about current series and the celebrated rivalry between England and Australia. Both Haddin and Clarke agreed that ‘poms Vs aussies’ was one of the most historic rivalries in international sport and the concept certainly encouraged the team to push themselves further and ‘better their best’.
Haddin commented; “I’ve been brought up to see Ashes rivalry as the greatest in sport. There is no tougher campaign. The theatre behind the whole event is outstanding and it tests you on so many levels. It’s also the best fun you’ll ever have as a cricketer and I’d dearly love to win one."

Below is some of the coverage generated from the activity.
