Outline Work 2.0 Evaluation
Throughout this unit I have utilised the skills that I have developed during the course. The project required me to create my own final work through research, reflection, and development of work. I have completed this by creating multiple video outcomes which was displayed in the BENE culture store.
The use of Tumblr for my blogging my work was useful because it allowed me to share digital work quicker and efferently saving paper because I didn’t need to print work for a sketchbook. This sustainability is useful and is necessary to use in the future.
This purpose of this project was to create a pop-up store. In this store we would sell and display products as a collaborative team. As well as this we would make our own individual product to sell as well.
Our theme was to create a studio environment. This means that whoever enters is transported the daily life of a studio worker. Based of 502 error and the number of our door we managed to create a successful environment. Our design aesthetic was consistent.
I didn’t make an individual product however I made a RISO print was sellable so technically that was my product meaning I still completed the brief. To justify why I didn’t make a product is because originally, I wanted to make a tiny screen. Due to my lack of skills with computers and engineering I couldn’t complete my task. Ultimately due to the pressure of making videos or 502 I didn’t prioritize how I could make my product.
In the future I want to go into film but because I’m on a design course currently I struggled how I could sell film as a physical product. I took too long. Reflecting on this if we did this again, I would finish the box idea as prioritize that as that would off been cool.
Overall, I believe my 502 videos was essential in filling the space and creating a great atmosphere. Looking forward into the exhibition I will continue to develop my videography but also help with the branding.

Super Graphics Evaluation
This client-based project started of a surprise because I was sick in that week and on the Friday, I came in, I suddenly found out we were going to Sutton College to create designs for their HND room.
Overall, this project challenged me to question my value as a designer. Through this project I have broaden my communication skills with my peers and clients, it helped focus on focused research that is not design focused. What I mean instead of searching other artists I research topics such as braille and the Birmingham flag. It is important that I learnt as this helps me make a more relatable design for my clients Since my clients are corporate, I couldn’t be abstract.
The use of Tumblr for my blogging my work was useful because it allowed me to share digital work quicker and efferently saving paper because I didn’t need to print work for a sketchbook. This sustainability is useful and is necessary to use in the future.
Originally, we were tasked to window designs for two rooms and a HE Logo. When approaching creating the windows for Sutton I wanted to make the designs simple but with an impactful meaning. The library windows were inspired by braille. Through research, reflection, and development of work I made a really simple design. However, I underestimated my clients as when explaining they wasn’t that impressed by the design. Ultimately Peter and Deja worked on that. The next windows were for the HE common room. To be honest I didn’t try that hard. To justify myself I believed that it was more important to make the HE logo than anything else and thus I put the most effort into that.
Despite thinking the logo was good they clients where confused. I used a head to represent the student, but they said it was random. Through this project I learnt that my clients had a desired goal and no matter how much I explained they wouldn’t care. Reflecting on this I realised that as a designer my opinions matter. Although I couldn’t express myself this time in the future, I will learn to communicate a lot better.
Working with Hamza and Matt taught my teamwork skills. Although Hamza was in charge and did a lot of things, I was able to make the video which helped comminate our vision much clearer. In the future however, I want to play an equal role rather than putting pressure on one person.
Throughout this project I had present my designs. This helped strengthen my communication skills.
Overall, I believe I should’ve taken this project more seriously. I underestimated because it was for college but if this was a real client I would have not got paid. I am appreciate of Hamza for making a logo that was suitable. Learning from this project I will be more collaborative in our future exhibition in June.

Laptop Vid
Thanks to Hamza for lending his Laptop. This is great example of teamwork. This is my personal favourite video. Just the overdramatic visuals to represent a person's desktop just makes it really fun to look at.

VHR TV+ Projector and Flat Screen TV
Overall I believe the videos I created help bring the atmosphere in the pop up store. It makes more visually engaging as people who may not want to buy anything can still be immersed or entertained by videos I created.
The projector overlapping with poster looks really cool. Despite it being somewhat bright you can still clearly see the projection which was what I was slightly worried about.
BENE Culture provided us with a DJ. Personally, I didn't want a DJ as that breaks the feeling this is a studio culture environment (we don't have a DJ in our studio).

Pop Up Store Day
The pop store was held at BENE Culture. The space was small but that was good because it mean't it was easy for us to organise the space with having too much empty areas.
Problems we faced where not finishing painting the plinths before hand so me, Matt and Peter went to set up first while the others finished painting. Since the plinths were newly painted I had problem of messing up the taxi drivers car. In future I believe instead of rushing on the last day we organise before hand so we wouldn't be causing inconvenience to other people.
Another problem was the projector. We originally planned to drill the projector into the floor. As you see in the photos the projector ended up being on the floor because the ceiling wasn't strong enough to support it. A lesson from this is to discuss with the owners before hand rather than assuming we can just do whatever. Luckily it worked out well but, due to my lack of communication my projector video nearly became a waste of time.
Overall the event turned out great. We had lots of visitors from the area and many of our products (particularly Jorja and Peter's hoodies) got sold.
Although I never made any products I am still happy with my contributions.
Going forward with now our exhibition in June. Key things are - communication and preparation.

INDIVIDUAL
FINAL RISO Prints. The texture of the paper really elevates the designs because it is grainy. The pink really pops out well because which contrasts really well with the black making the poster more eye-catching.

INDIVIDUAL
First RISO Design.
This RISO poster will be in black and white. The design is quite empty to represent to fading transition between life and death. I chose the name 'I SEE YOU'. This has name multiple meanings which will be determined by viewer. One of these meaning is seeing your loved ones before you pass on. Another is seeing the 'white light' or even your life flashing before your eyes. Whatever ever the reason it is said that one can see the true you through your eyes so I wanted to have a title to link to vision.
Speaking of eyes, I blocked out the eyes because this is a dead person. There is no life in a dead persons eyes.

RESEARCH
Since my story was about the living the last moments of your life. I research old movie posters with the intension of seeing distress in these posters.
Remember what my mixed media story. It is about living the last moments of your life before you die. I really like these designs because the grain texture represents the harshness of life. This links to pain of how the person in the video feels.
The bottom posters ave bold text which I really like. To be honest there is not a lot movie posters nowadays that utilise typography. For one of my B2 Module projects I am making a short film called BREATHE. I believe that creating a typography centred poster would be cool as a RISO print.

INDIVIDUAL
Since I'm no longer making an individual product to sell. I should still make a RISO print which will be projected along side other people's RISO print. This way I am still participating in helping my team while also building my design skills.
Graphic design is still important in film and just because I want to be a film maker, I should still be making graphic design pieces.

Preseneting this to twice taught me alot of thinks about with working with clients. It is important that as creatives we are able to negotiote why our design choices is the best choice for what the client wants.
In the future I will be having to pitch ideas to clients with my projects. This was a good learining experience.
Rather than confidence, explaination is key beacsue as a designer you need to go through step by step to that that clients who aren't creatives. I believe we did a good job. They understood it clearly and the statements they made was to just make more stuff.
Despite this time going well, I shouldn't be too over confident because there will be a time where it isn't as smooth.

Going more into the logo.
So after the initial presentations we made individiually. Three groups where formed. One was the HE logo group, which is the group i'm in. Another is creating artwork for Sutton college libary. And finally artwork for HE rooms.
Argubally our task was the hardest because it would have to be accepted by the headmasters since this will be in the newletters, social etc. Really grateful for Hamza for constructing this logo.
My job is to explain the meaning of this logo to the headmasters.
HE Logo meaning - The shield shapes represents the unity of the HE courses. The top left triangle symbol represents the three bmett colleges, matthew boulton, sutton, james watt. The top left zig zag is a link to the birmingham flag because we are based in birmingham. The bottom of the logo is to represent next steps and moving forward in education which is the main point of HE.

Supergraphics project for Sutton College. Thanks to Hamza creating the logo and Matt choosing the colour, I had created this video animation to represents the meaning of this logo. My intension is that each individual section represents the HE courses all combining to form one unity which is the bmet HE logo. This shows that no matter what course or campus we are united in wanting to further our education.
This video ties in well with the blue colour as blue represents freedom, imagination, inspiration. These are core qualities of a person who is willing to do a HE course.

Was kind of running out of ideas for the 502 flat screen tv that bene culture already had in their store. Turning to my peer we decided to make a 'live' footage of us working. Although in the video we are just talking, that honestly is an accurate representation of our studio life. So once again this link to our visual identity.
