Summer Brief - Character Style Changes (Part 2)

The second part of the summer brief is easily the most exciting task out of most. I am incredibly excited to try and adapt characters from one series into a completely different style.

The brief for this project states that I must adapt three different characters into three separate and unique series that aren't too similar to the base character I have chosen, so it is important that I keep that in mind.

Another key point of the brief is that I must show a dynamic pose, a turnaround and differing facial expressions or general expressions; This will be important to interpret and design into my character sheets and final production of each character.

Whilst I am in early choices, I am certain that I would like to include series such as Pokémon, Steven Universe and Splatoon in this project as I have a special connection and passion for each of these series, and with such a passion should come a drive to create even more mock-ups.

The updates for this part of the brief will mainly include sketches where applicable, research into key stylistic choices and main features in characters, and finalised designs for each of the three designs I pick.

Summer Brief - 1 Second a Week (Part 1)

Coming into the Summer Brief, and starting off with my work, my initial focus had to be the 1 second a week project as it would be a constant throughout the summer.

In my work, I would like to focus on a key element within my life for each second snippet. This will be placed and explained within each weeks updates on what my thought process was with each second.

I plan to focus and emphasise the effects and impact that colour and simplicity can have in each second, conveying the story within the basic confines of colour. Such as a negative event having a red setting, and a positive event having a green setting.

I also want to convey different techniques of animating throughout each week, and focus on showing improvement as I continue to complete work!

I will also update each second of animation with any form of inspiration I may have had within work. This will allow a greater understanding of the process I took when creating settings or animation styles/techniques!
