millsmonretti:
Honestly, Millie was prone to daydreaming, especially when she wasn’t very busy as a hostess, so she wouldn’t be surprised if Danny was some sort of mind mirage. However, she didn’t think her mind could conjure up such a vivid hug and that was Danny’s voice plan as day. She couldn’t believe how happy she was to see her best friend again. It made her realize just how much she missed him, but she wasn’t going to confess that and put that weight on his shoulders.
She was slightly surprised when he pulled her in for a hug though as she knew he didn’t really initiate physical contact, but she accepted the embrace and hugged him back. “Good to know you’re real and you know I could ask you the same thing,” she chuckled. What are the chances that the both of them would wind up in the same small town, after all? It wasn’t the short of place she imagined that Danny and Syd would be staying at, as she pictured them settling into more of a bigger city like NYC maybe.
Once the shock wore off a little bit the second half of his question caught up to her brain and she found herself nervously biting her lower lip. Danny was probably the only person she would feel comfortable talking to about it, but not while she was working or in a public place at all. “It’s a long story to tell you now and I wouldn’t want your food to get cold,” she grinned as she nodded towards the pick-up station, which was just a shelf that staff placed the bags on and Danny’s was the only one there. “You know it’s funny because I was actually supposed to be off today but now I’m glad I said yes to coming in.”
xxx Danny didn’t have to look at her to know he had surprised her slightly when he brought her for a hug. It surprised himself, frankly, given that he wasn’t one who particularly cared or like physical contact. But Millie had grown to be an exception a very long time ago. Additionally, he was well aware that having any contact with her would upset his husband. Yet, there was still a smile on his face as they pulled back. He chuckled at her remark, giving a slight shrug. Kingshaven wasn’t typically a place they’d settle in - at least not for as long as they have been. “Our car broke down - Syd was downright beside himself, so we’re in town while it gets fixed.” His wallet had taken a hit and a half but Baby was worth the investment. “It basically has to be built from the frame up and Syd will not give up on her. I swear he loves that car far too much.” It was an ongoing joke - but Danny still believed some of it stemmed in truth.
Observant blues trailed along Millie’s face as she paused to answer his question. Even if he wasn’t keen on picking up body language from people, he knew Millie like the back of his hand. The way she bit down on her lip was a clear sign to him that there was a story surrounding her arrival here, and it wasn’t pretty if she was this nervous about it. It made him frown slightly, a protective gleam stirring within him. “What happened, Mills?” He asked her, waving off the food for now. Syd wasn’t home yet and was clearly preoccupied if he didn’t answer his phone. It could wait a bit. “Do you have a break?” He asked her, tilting his head to the side curiously. Her comment earned another small smile from him as he chuckled. “Well, I’m glad you did too. I probably would have missed you if you hadn’t. How long have you been here?”

With no desire to cook dinner himself, Danny had opted to order out at Nonna’s for the night. It was pricier than it was ideal but Danny didn’t really care about the cost of it all if it meant he could just go home and eat. As he opened the door to the restaurant, Danny sighed when his call to Syd went to voicemail. With a small chuckle, Danny began to leave a voicemail. “You know, when I get home I don’t wanna hear you bitchin about what I got for dinner.” He teased his husband, making his way to where the food was picked up from. “If you picked up when I call –”
His sentence paused as his blue eyes raised to the hostess and shock riddled his body. “Millie?” Danny asked in complete disbelief, only then disconnecting the call as a wide grin grew on his face. It was disorienting seeing her here in Kingshaven given that he had said his goodbyes back in Nashville. Danny had been certain that was probably the last he’d ever see of his first love and best friend. Danny wasn’t known for making personal connections - that emotional level of understanding and commitment a foreign and uncomfortable concept to him. There were three people in his life that he had ever truly made a connection with. Syd and Oliver being the most recent ones and Millie being his first and longest lasting.
Despite not seeing other for fifteen years - was it more? - other than their brief encounter back home a couple years back, it still never felt like there was a beat missing between them. A small laugh escaped him and he shook his head, approaching her and bringing her into a hug. It went against his better judgement - but in that moment, he didn’t care. As they pulled away, Danny grinned at her. “Damn right it’s me! The better question is what the hell are you doing in Kingshaven?” He asked her, completely surprised to see her so far away from Nashville.

lottie managed a grin despite the lingering paranoia. “clearly less than the threat of punishment if i’m caught,” she leaned her elbow on the table and put her thumb and point finger close together, the round dip of the digits almost touching, “but it’s this close.” she felt around inside her hoodie pockets for a moment before procuring a gum wrapper, one penny, and a bent paperclip she sometimes pushed into her palm when she felt nervous. “i don’t suppose you take i.o.u’s?”
“Oh,” Danny grinned, morphing his expression to reflect mock fear as he held his hands up. Lottie was probably the last person he’d be scared of but he found her amusing. His blue eyes shifted from Lottie down to her palm and at the poor items she produced from the depths of her hoodie. “That’s all you carry there? Not even a dime?” He joked, but did reach out and snag the penny out of her hand - for no other reason than the fact that he could. “You bet I do!” I.O.U’s were Danny’s favorite thing to collect. “But you gotta at least tell me why the hell I’m covering for your ass. What did you get into?”

If Daniel was honest, he wasn’t overly surprised that Valentino didn’t remember. Unlike him, the guy had been completely shit-faced and if he had any recollection, it would have been a damned miracle. So all his squinting of trying to place Danny’s face only earned him a charming smile when it should have gained irritation. “Well you are a pretty boy, aren’t yah?” He drawled, the strings of his Tennessee accent coming through even if Danny often tried to bite it back. Where there should have been a hint of annoyance at the petty and bitchy attitude being thrown his way, Danny only felt entertainment and amusement. People with bark and fire always seemed to pull the hacker in like a moth to a flame. It also helped that Danny knew a few secrets of this pretty boy - or, atleast, of his family. After all, Danny made it a point to try to have dirt on everyone he knew. “Generic north american basic boy next door. Ouch, darlin’, that wounds my heart.” He dramatically placed his hand over his heart as if the words could ever rip through him. Still, the charming smile only grew on Danny’s face as he stood up from his seat and approached the other. His finger came to rest under Valentino’s chin and he tilted it upwards so the blonde was looking up at him. “That’s not what you were saying the night you almost begged to get on your knees for me.” Danny drawled out, the smile morphing into a smirk as he locked eyes with the other. With shrug, Danny stepped back. “Shame you forgot already but clearly, being blacked out drunk is a bit of problem for you.”
valentino wasn't someone who easily forgets things, but when he's drunk? that's a completely different ball game. it's almost as if the blonde turns into a whole different breed when under the influence. it's unsurprising that he can't recall who this guy is, despite the fact that he feels like he's seen him before.... somewhere. the last thing he would think is that he's gone down on him when completely wasted. if anything, he's assuming he's some type of retail worker he's seen on one of his many shopping sprees before. ❝i'll let that one slide because you called me a pretty boy.❞ one thing he could always take is compliments – he practically feeds off of being validated in someway. slowly but surely, he removes the glasses, placing them on the table and nearly wincing at the light inside. ❝you look really familiar, but i can't quite put my finger on it.❞ valentino looks at him up and down, no memory of the fun night they once had running through his mind at all. eventually, he shakes his hand in disregard. ❝i don't have the willpower to pin point where i know you from... you know what? maybe i don't even know you. you scream 'generic north american basic boy next door' vibes and there are plenty of those around.❞ he's just being his usual bitchy self, because really, whoever this guy is, he's insanely attractive, but valentino is valentino, and he's hungover, and well, he's certainly not about to boost a stranger's ego, that's for sure.

Placing his drink down, Danny looked as if he had the answer to the question prepared months in advance. “Stop your bitchin’ first off,” Danny scoffed, turning in his seat to look at the other. He was still getting the lay of the land here and one of the best ways of doing that was befriending the locals. A ploy that had yet to fail him - hence coming to the bar with Theo. “Secondly, that is the best indication of a good dive bar. Juke boxes and sticky floors garatunee cheap but good drinks, and the best bar food you can find.” He paused to take a sip of his beer and grinned widely when the tater tots were brought out. “Like these tater tots. Trust me, I’ve been to plenty of dive bars.”
"reminds me again why 'sticky shoe' is a compliment for this place and not one of the many reasons it should be avoided at all costs. i'm probably going to get a plague just touching the bar tops here." theo wrinkled his nose, but he did set his elbows on the counter anyway to lean while he held his drink. "i said i was stressed not suicidal."

It takes one to know one - at least Danny thinks that’s how the saying goes. It held true for him here and his friendship with Camilia. If it could even be labeled as such. Mutual understanding? Whatever. The point being that, like him, Camila lived to cause chaos and con people. It had not taken Danny very long to observe as much and he couldn’t pass up the chance to spend time with someone who was actually interesting and fun in this small town. Causing havoc was something Daniel Whitechapel could never and would never pass up and when her familiar voice called out to him, Danny immediately took a seat next to her. “Well, darlin’, I don’t know how fun that would be.” He chuckled, leaning forward. “I guess the question is - how much shit do you wanna stir up tonight because I am exceedingly bored and avoiding home.”
Location: UTP Status: OPEN
Cam was over the scenery already. A downfall she never was truly able to conquer: her easily-bored trait. Though, two weeks is a new record for her. She wasn’t necessarily paying attention to who was nearby, only knowing a familiar face caught the corner of her eye. “What does a girl gotta do to have some fun around here? Cum on a cracker?” Her head dramatically falling back in order for her to groan for emphasis.

There was a wicked grin on Danny’s face as he slid into the seat next to Alessandra. “And that’s why I came.” Danny began, leaning forward on the table before them. “You’re such a firecracker and I just had to come and bug you.” It really did give him a special kind of joy to annoy her but he just found her quick wit and sharp tongue too amusing. “So me time, huh? What does that consist of?”

Three months later, she was finally settling into the town and forming a routine with her new life. She had a nice, consistent work schedule at the local Italian restaurant and she had just moved into a small apartment nearly a month ago. It felt nice to have a space to call home and thankfully, apartments were too much of a commitment compared to buying a house at least.
There were two abnormal things about today though. One is that Millie was supposed to be off but she was too kind to say no when another employee had an emergency and she got asked if she could come in and two is she was normally a server and not the hostess. It was her job as hostess to handle the pickup orders too, which were all numbered.
She didn’t see the name at first but the moment her brown eyes saw him walk through the door, her jaw dropped. Of course she would recognize her best friend immediately but she was shocked to see him here. After he said goodbye, they had kept up here and there and she might get a photo or postcard occasionally but she never quite knew where he and Syd were going.
Millie refrained herself from literally running up and hugging him since she was at work, but she couldn’t contain her squeal and smile that spread from ear to ear. “Danny! I can’t believe it’s you — here, right in front of me. I’m not daydreaming right? This is real?”

Being a morning person, unlike his husband, meant that Danny often spent the early morning hours finding something to keep him occupied. Most mornings were started with run, which he had already done and then he would make breakfast if Syd was awake. With his snoring loud and clear, Danny had opted to go to the Early Gull for a coffee and pick up something from the cafe for breakfast instead. With a cup of his favorite latte in front of him and a muffin, Danny almost snorted at the irritated bark that came from another patron at the few girls that had been chatting up a storm earlier. Lifting his gaze, Danny couldn’t help the wicked grin that overcame him at the sight. It had been a while ago - but he’d gotten friendly with Valentino in one of the many place him and Syd had traveled to. Pretty eyes like that were hard to forget. Kingshaven was really becoming a beacon of the ghosts of Danny’s past. “Aren’t you a sight for sore eyes, pretty boy.” Danny said teasingly, waiting for the other to turn his attention towards him.
despite the fact that he was indoors and the room was by no means bright, valentino had on his gucci heart shaped sunglasses, fingers rubbing at his temples in a weak attempt to try and help with his headache. to say he was hungover would be an understatement – he was absolutely dying right now. he had bruises all over his knees and he can't remember for the life of him who the hell gave him the bright purple hickey on his neck. he groans, ❝okay, but why are you screaming?❞ he asks the other, not bothering to hide his disdain. ❝you're so loud, i think you need a xanax prescription to calm down.❞

Being helpful or even doing favors was not something Danny did and if he did, there was always something in it for him. And, he always kept a tab on open favors. Though he knew that most people in Kingshaven didn’t know that about him yet. Still, Danny raised an eyebrow at Lottie and chuckled, crossing his arms over his chest. “How much did that hurt to ask?” He could sense her displeasure at needing his cooperation for anything. “Right - and what’s in it for me?” Danny asked her, mostly just teasing.
lottie didn’t make asking for favors a habit. the last thing she needed was to be indebted to someone who lived close enough to collect—but some emergencies couldn’t be avoided. “if anyone asks,” she glanced over her shoulder instinctively and pursed her lips together in a tight line, like a child about to get their first cavity filled, “i was with you all day. capiche?”

( n/a / 33 / cis male / he/him ) — did you see DANNY WHITECHAPEL wandering around the island today? they kind of look like CHRIS WOOD from certain angles? i heard around town that the FREELANCE HACKER is CHARMING, and PATIENT, but also IMPULSIVE, and MANIPULATIVE. people say that they remind them of BRIGHT COMPUTER SCREENS, TWIZZLERS HANGING FROM THE CORNER OF HIS MOUTH AS OFTEN A CIGARETTE, and LEATHER JACKETS, and HEARTACHE by FROM ASHES TO NEW is definitely their theme song. they seem like a nice enough person, but we all know how hard it is to keep a pristine reputation in a small town. THE CHESS MASTER - this is an incredibly patient muse, they may seem oblivious, but in reality, they are quietly plotting something big. they’re intelligent and not everyone around them is aware of this, which works to their advantage.
key points:
Danny was born into a trashy family that lived in a small town on the outskirts of Nashville, TN. His father was famously abusive in the household, beating on him and his sister more often than not. His mother was an addict who used heroin and coke as a means to escape the life they lived.
She passed away when Danny was eight and his sister was three. Overdose. After that, Danny was left to try and raise his sister while dealing with their abusive father. Most of Danny’s life was spent figuring out his next meal and avoiding a beating at his father’s hand.
The only ray of minor sunshine in his life came in the form of his first love (wanted connection). They grew up together, neighbors, This person knew of the horrors behind the Anderson home, but she tried her best to alleviate it through their friendship. Danny and her were complete opposites but it worked. They grew up as best friends and she was the first person Danny found himself actually caring for. More information is found below.
His father eventually passed away during Danny’s junior year of high school under suspicious circumstances. Without the man’s domineering hand upon him, Danny’s familial ties disintegrated. He didn’t particularly care for his family and though maybe odd, the lack of being able to connect with people wasn’t abnormal...at least to Danny it wasn’t.
From early on, Danny had developed a love for technology. A geek to the core, he was quick to learn his way around a computer and even quicker to learn his way around the web.
He has built a reputation online as one of the best-known hackers. He is a certified hacker for a legal front but most of his sizable income comes from jobs he does through the dark web.
A year and a half ago, Danny met Syd Whitechapel while the man was passing through his town. Their connection was conflicting at first. The two are far too similar at times to seemingly make it work. Not to mention that Daniel had been living in the closet for far too long.
Sooner than both thought possible, they fell in love. Even faster than that, it seemed, the two were on the road. They left behind a mess of Danny’s hometown but there were no regrets. A couple of months later, Danny planted a wedding ring on Syd’s finger while they were in bed together and that was their marriage.
They lived on the road for most of their time, only stopping in towns for a couple of weeks at time.
Two months ago, Baby - Syd’s car that Danny is convinced he loves more than him - shit the bed. Much to his husband’s dismay. While they are waiting for the car to be practically built back from the shell up, they are making somewhat of a life in kingshaven.
What the town doesn’t know is they gained more than they bargained for with these two.
headcannons.
Do not call him by his full name. He absolutely hates it.
Has a pretty bad temper and is sadistic to the core. A bored Danny is a dangerous Danny. His mind needs constant stimulation or he grows exceedingly restless and that leads to impulsive decisions that bring the sense of chaos and adrenaline he needs.
The kind of guy that can be ruled by his emotions (impulsivity) and thinks about things later.
Lower on the sociopathy scale so he’s able to feel some emotions at a higher intensity and comprehend to an extent but he prefers not to. He technically has a sense of right and wrong but blatantly doesn’t give a shit and would prefer to cause destruction at others' expense.
As a result of - what he calls his “normie” side, Danny can make more connections and does care about certain special people.
Daniel loves twizzlers - that is the way to the man’s heart.
He knows how to ride a motorcycle. Owned one back home but sold it when he hit the road.
Was a bartender in his early twenties and hated it so he only did it for a couple of years.
Danny is fascinated with technology. He has heavily invested in it since he was young and has become a tech wizard of sorts, going as far as becoming one of the most well-known hackers on the dark web, even if not known by his actual name. Mostly, he does it for fun because why the fuck not? Besides the illegal stuff he gets to pull is downright ridiculous and sometimes, enjoyable. Plus, his comfortable bank account is not complaining at all.
He wears a silver band with the words partners in crime on his left ring finger - it’s his wedding band, handmade by his husband. It’s a combination of the original rings Danny got and the creation of Syd’s hands.
Often is seen wearing a black leather jacket
Fluent in English, some French and is determined to learn Ukrainian.
wanted connections
CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL LIST OF HIS WANTED CONNECTIONS
First Love/Best Friend: This girl was Danny’s best friend growing up and one of the few people he genuinely cares about. He has always had a soft spot for her and probably always will. She was sunshine in the midst of his dark childhood and the reason why Danny even knows how to love or really form any sort of connection with people. They dated through high school but mutually broke up at the end of it as life took them separate ways. They reunited briefly back home before Danny left Nashville. There is a sense of unfinished business among them.
Younger Sister: The Anderson siblings would have had a difficult relationship. To an extent, Danny would have been protective of his sister. Whether that is born out of genuine concern or obligation is up for debate. His sister would have had a front-row seat at the earlier and maybe more subtle signs that Danny had never fully been there in the head. The early signs of lack of empathy, manipulation, and sadistic behavior. However, these were minimal and often went unnoticed or overshadowed by the horrors of their home. Brushed under the rug as a result of just trying to survive. She left home to live with some distant relatives when she was twelve and they haven’t seen each other since. We can discuss their dynamic afterward. Would love to explore that relationship and how it would be now that they are grown up and have been separated for so long.
Enemies: Danny has no regard for right or wrong and whatever he does is born out of either spite, boredom, or sadistic need. I would love to see an enemy relationship that bites him in the ass. Someone he wronged in the past? someone who can sense something isn’t fully right about him and calls out his bullshit?
Previous Customers: Danny’s jobs online vary from menial things or higher jobs. From black mail, to finding out personal details of someone, to hacking into a major corporation for retaliation. He’ll do anything for the right price and nothing is too dark or dirty for him. Does your muse have a dirty little job that might need some assistance?

“The luckiest,” Miles agreed with a slow nod, as he took in the growing familiarity of the sight of her in his living room. Nothing felt out of place when she was here, it was though her presence was supposed to be around. Forest greens focused on Julia’s every move, noting the apparent nerves plastered all over her face as she parted with the surprise. Miles took the canvas into his hands and lowered his gaze.
Silently, the brunette stood in awe of the artwork, following every brush stroke that created the image of a couple at a piano. A smile of wonderment pulled at the corners of his lips, he barely caught Julia’s words of self-deprecation as he continued to take in the swirls of colour, the delicacy of the figures laid out on canvas and the story that came from the work. “No, no. God, Jules this is far from rough. It’s perfect. Okay, wait.” Miles signaled for her to pause momentarily with one finger held in the air.
Without hesitation, Miles crossed to his piano and placed the painting just above it, then took a brief moment to admire it’s new home. “What do you think?” He posed the question as he spun on his heels to face Julia, his hand extended out for her to join him in the private viewing of her hung artwork. Now he had a piece of her inspired work to keep him inspired every time he sat at the piano– suddenly it didn’t feel like such a daunting endeavor to play.
“What was it like painting again?”
xx
Julia chewed on her lower lip as Miles took the canvas into his hands, his eyes deep in their study of her work. There was a deep rush of relief that lessened the tension of her shoulders and the look of worry that had furrowed her brows when Miles finally spoke. “what are you doing?” She chuckled, watching him as he spun around but when she noticed what he was doing, Jules’ heart stuttered in her chest. She had forgotten about the placement he had mentioned and suddenly, seeing the painting over his piano left her breathless.
There was a soft smile on her lips and she took a step forward, lacing her fingers with Miles’ when he outstretched his hand towards her. She used their grasp to lift Miles’ arm around her shoulders as she pressed herself against his side, her arounds wrapped around his torso as they looked at the painting. “I think that’s the perfect place.” There was a significance to it that no one else but them would understand. It made her feel so unbelievably special - but Miles had a way of doing that. “Have you played since that day?” Jules asked him lightly, lifting her gaze up to look at him.
“It was different,” Julia answered his question, pausing as she mulled over the experience. “It was good, though. I had missed it so much.” She turned slightly then, so she could face him more and gave him a smile, her eyes warmed with the depth of gratitude she felt for this man and his influence of her. He was so good to her. “I wouldn’t have ever gone back if ti wasn’t for you...so thank you.” She leaned up and pressed her lips to the corner of his mouth. “Thank you for believing in me.”
As she pulled away, Julia gave a gentle sigh and grabbed his hand once more. “Come, the food is gonna get cold.” Turning, she approached the coffee table again, using their joined hands to pull him along and motioned for him to sit as she worked to get the food out of the bag. The nervous energy came back to her then. With the a glance at the painting over his piano, Jules glanced at Miles as she handed him a pair of chopsticks. “Can we talk?” She asked him, her voice steady cause she didn’t want to worry him. Julia had figured out that she wanted more of their relationship but in order to do that, she felt like she needed to be honest about the fact that he hadn’t been the only person she had slept with since they started seeing each other. It wasn’t owed, really, considering they had never said they were exclusive but Julia felt now that he still deserved to know if they were going to move forward - if he even wanted to move forward.

A knock at his door wasn’t so much of a surprise anymore, especially after meeting Julia and the regular visits to one another’s homes that were becoming a frequent occurrence. Miles pretty much anticipated her arrival before even opening the door to be greeted with a bright smile and captivating hazel hues.
At her announcement of dinner and a surprise, Miles’ jokingly swooned, flashing a flirtatious wink in her direction, “You are the perfect woman.” He couldn’t help the smile that spread wide across his lips as he reached out a hand to meet her hip, pulling her close before pressing his lips to her own, guiding her into his home without breaking the kiss.
With them both now inside the minimally decorated studio, Miles kicked the door shut before turning his full attention to Julia, “Okay, I’ll bite. What’s the surprise?” Eyes alight with curiosity as stood before the woman, his towering height creating a distance between their exchanged gaze.

Julia laughed at his swooning, lifting a slender shoulder up in a nonchalant shrug. “Aren’t you lucky, then?” She teased him, letting Miles pull her in by the hip. When they pulled away, Julia took a second to just relish this moment. It had become a terrifying familiarity and when she thought about it too long, what was building between them, scared her. But at the very same time, it elicited a type of excitement she couldn’t get over.
All Julia knew was that she couldn’t imagine not having Miles in her life anymore and his surprise, hidden behind her, would only prove how woven he had become into her life.
Lifting her gaze up, Julia bit her lower lip in nerves. Giving him this piece of her art was intimate and personal. She didn’t think she ever even painted anything for Mason in the years they spent together. “Okay,....” With a deep breath, Julia set the food down on his coffee table before presenting him with the canvas hidden behind her back, the piece he had asked her to paint. It was a painting of a couple, them honestly, at a piano with one teaching the other to play. Julia knew that Miles would understand the significance. “It’s rough, I know,” She immediately began to explain herself, suddenly self-conscious of not just her talent, but of the significance behind the portrait. What if he thought it was too much? Had she been assumptious? “But I... I hope you like it. If not, I can always try again.” She offered, her hazel eyes nervously shifting between the man in front of her the piece of her heart she was offering him.
