Ava giggled softly when they pulled back. “You complimented me. And I was flattered.. So, yeah. Friends kiss, no biggie.”

“They do? I’ve never had a friend kiss me before.” She smiled small. “But I trust you!”

Ava blushed a deep red, “You- Uhm…”

Darcy was a bit taken back considering she had just met Ava. “Mm..-” Darcy slowly pulled back, her eyes fluttering open to look at the other girl. “um.. What was that for, ava?”

“You can trust me.” She giggled, starting Darcy’s eyeshadow. Her eyes were adjusted to the dark, but she still couldn’t see the colors well. “I’m gonna make you look so pretty.” Ava laughed, shaking her head.

Darcy grinned softly, giggling as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. She let out a soft hum before speaking up. “So I’ll be as pretty as you then?”

“But it’s dark, so it makes it more fun.” She giggled, grabbing the bag that had her makeup in it and opening it up. Ava sat in front of Darcy, “hm.. Okay, close your eyes.”

Darcy giggled softly and nodded, closing her eyes. “I don’t think ive ever done anything like this!”

“If it didn’t drain my battery, I’d say we can watch Youtube on my phone. What if we do blind makeovers?!”

“Makeovers?! That sounds like fun! Okay!”

Ava giggled, “I can see it.” She smiled wider, “Hmm… Well, I’m cold, I want attention, hold me.”

Darcy grinned softly and wrapped her arms around the other, giggling. “I wish I could play a movie or something but the power’s out and my dad wouldnt let me bring my whole collection of dvd’s. There wasn’t any room in my suitcases.”

Darcy giggled softly. “I won’t I wont. I hate the dark.. and I don’t hate anything!” She leaned on her arm, looking over at Sabrina. “My herooo!” She joked, grinning. 

“ no! please don’t, d..” she laughed. “it’s creepy in here already.” she walked around accidentally bumping into a table. “ow.-  hey! there you are.” she moved her flashlight so she could sit down at the table.

Ava nodded, setting her bags down, “Thanks. I’ve got twizzlers in my purse.” She smiled, sitting down next to Darcy, “I’d like that a lot, actually.” She smiled, laying the blanket over their laps and resting her head on Darcy’s shoulder, “You’re pretty sweet. I mean, we just met, but I don’t know anyone that’d do this for me.”

“Some people say I’m an angel.” She joked, smiling. As soon as ava rested her head on Darcy’s shoulder, she rested her head ontop of her friend’s. “I’ve been told I’m a good cuddler.” She mentioned. “It’s all in the ‘im cold, i want attention, hold me’ and then clinging to the person.” She giggled.

“I guess I shouldnt jump out and scare you?” She joked, giggling. 

“yeah it’s me!” she took out her phone and turned on the flashlight. “well, that helps a little.” she said as she started walking around.

“Good! I can definitely help you with the straw problem.” She giggled, holding Darcy’s hand a bit tighter, “Yeah, I’m kind of scared shitless right now, but at least we can be scared together, right? We just became best friends.”

“Well, thank you!” She giggled, nodding. “We could sit over here? I think we’ll be okay. I mean, I’ve got my water bottle, snacks and we’ll stay cozy with a blanket.” She nodded, her smile bright when she mentioned being best friends. “I’d like that! I’ll have to introduce you to my other friends too!”

sabrina had just walked into the library when the lights shut off. “great..” she mumbled to herself. she looked around. “darcy..? hey!  where are you? i’ll come find you.”

“Sabrina!?” The brunette smiled a little. “I’m.. uh.. I’m at a table, but theres a bunch of tables in here so..”

Ava blushed when Darcy took her hand, walking along with her. “yeah.. I just- I just got here.” She smiled a bit, “Uhm.. Just- school, I guess? Well… My friend Levi goes here.. and he sent me a pamphlet so I could see if I wanted to come too.. and I decided to.” She chuckled lightly, “I’m Ava, by the way. And honestly, Darcy, if you’re a murderer, I wouldn’t mind getting murdered right now. You’re kind of adorable. I just ask that you make it quick. I’d prefer not to die slowly.”

“Well, It is lovely to have you here, Ava! I’m definitely not a murderer.. Like I cant even get the straw into a caprisun or juice box so I really wouldn’t worry about that.” She gave Ava a small smile before looking back in front of her. “Say, Ava? You don’t happen to be scared of the dark, right? Cause.. I’m actually terrified, but that’s okay.”

Peter moved and sat down, crossing his arms over his chest. “When I was a kid I always wanted to live in a library,” he paused and thought for a moment. “A library in the middle of Moscow during a blizzard in the 19th century, if we’re being specific. I was a weird kid.” He shook his head and smiled at Darcy. “I grew up in Florida so I had no frame of reference for snow, but my sophomore year of college I did a study abroad in Moscow and I actually did get trapped in during a blizzard and I realized the reality is never anything like the fantasy. Point is, life sucks and doesn’t make sense sometimes. Good news is, phones have flashlight apps.” That being said he pulled his phone out and illuminated the table. “Now you can read.”

“That’s really cool though! I was born in New York city, but then my dads adopted me and we moved to the always sunny California! Those are the only two places Ive been too until i came here! Now sometimes, my dads will come to visit and we make it like a family vacation around Europe!.” She watched as he turned on the flashlight and smiled. “Oh, no, that’s alright. You’ll waste your phone battery.”

“Hmm? Oh! Uhh… Snacks and blankets sound better than- than standing here.. The dark is kind of terrifying which is making this school seem scarier than I first thought.”

“Well come on then!” Darcy smiled and grabbed Ava’s hand, leading her down the hallway. “Did you just get here? Well, I guess that would make the most sense since you.. already said that.. never mind! What brings you here?” She asked cheerfully, tilting her head a bit with a smile on her lips as they walked.

“Well, I am about to change your mind! I’m Darcy and I have snacks and blankets!”

“So the second I arrive there’s a blackout? I’m starting to regret the decision to come here..”

“They probably should come back on soon, but depending on how widespread it could take a while,” Peter stayed where he stood. “I wouldn’t worry, those in charge should probably be figuring out all those things now.” He paused. “Oh man, I’m one of those people that should be working things out, right?”

“I had a dream once that I was trapped in a library and ever since then I thought the library would be the best place to be trapped. I’d have all the books to read and all the comfy spots to sit, but It’s dark so I can’t read.. So my whole the library would be the best place to be trapped kinda isn’t true now.” Darcy paused. “I ramble when I’m nervous. I’m sorry.”
