i opened a text box and i'm just typing things sporadically at work and will post whatever the results are before i leave

"I haven't been this drunk since college," Matt says, laughing into Foggy's shoulder as they walk back to his place from Josie's, acting like his bones are sporadically not working. Which is fine, great even, because there's a little stupid aching part of Foggy's heart that misses when they used to never be more than an inch apart at any given moment.

"We're going to wish we were dead tomorrow morning," he says, happily, pulling Matt in closer with an arm slung loosely around his shoulders because he can, because it feels like they're them again, Nelson and Murdock, and also because he doesn't want Matt to stumble into oncoming traffic. "So let's live it up. I ordered pizza to your place before we left the bar because I don't think I could look another adult in the eye and ask for anything right now."

"Oh god, pizza," Matt says. "I love you, man."

"Your love is easily bought," Foggy says.

"Pizza is just one reason of many," Matt says, turning to smile at several gorgeous women that walk by before turning back to Foggy.

"Wow, one minute you love me," Foggy says, "and the next you're flirting with random beautiful passerby. I see how it is."

"What are you talking about?" Matt asks, after a moment, like he's trying to decode what Foggy said.

"You just made eyes at what looked like a bachelorette party sized group of potential supermodels," Foggy says. "How did you even recognize the magnitude of their hotness when you're this inebriated?"

"I didn't," Matt says, still sound bewildered. "I was just smiling."

"That was an amorous smile," Foggy says, teasing, squeezing Matt against his side and slowing down to look at him when Matt doesn't say anything. "Was it not an amorous smile?"

"I wasn't smiling because of them," Matt says, a little quietly, which does not answer his question but poses a few new ones.

". . .what?" Foggy asks.

Even ignoring the whole "he has ways to adapt and that somehow means he's not really disabled because I, personally, am the authority on what does and doesn't count as a disability" type ablesim the whole "Matt pretends to be blind" thing has going, it also fails to account for spoons. Like, yeah, sure, maybe technically Matt could always perfectly map out his surroundings based on his other senses, but it clearly takes effort and concentration to get a perfect map. Can't a bitch just be tired sometimes and decide to use his cane instead?

I'm technically fully capable of walking to work everyday, but sometimes I just don't have the spoons to do it. Maybe if you use the strictest possible definition of "need," I don't ever need a ride to work, but I absolutely need a ride to work sometimes. Likewise, Matt may not, in the strictest possible sense, need Braille because he can technically feel ink on a page, but he's got to have days where it's just not worth the effort to puzzle out the ink, and he'll request a Braille copy. It doesn't mean he's faking needing Braille, just because he technically can read print if he tries hard enough

“If I said that I love you,” Foggy says, as calmly as he can, “what would you do?”

To be fair, he caught Matt of guard on purpose, which is probably what it takes a long moment for him to process and answer the questions. He sits up slowly from where he’s been sprawled out in Foggy’s lap getting his hair played with, something that Foggy already kind of knew made him a little bit stupid, face guarded when he aks, “Why do you ask?”

“Mere curiosity,” Foggy says.

Matt’s face goes soft pretty quickly when he admits, “I might say it back.”

“Yeah?”

Foggy slides his fingers through Matt’s hair again, smiling when Matt’s eyes flutter shut and he sighs.

“I love you,” Matt says.

“You fucker,” Foggy says, smile grinning. “You beat me to it.”

Matt jut smiles back and leans up to kiss him.

“It’s not a contest,” he says.

“It is now,” Foggy says, scoffing. “I’m going to propose, like, tonight, just in case you try to claim that, too.”

The way Matt’s smile goes kind of adorable and shy makes Foggy feel absolutely indescribable.

“If I proposed tonight, what would you do?” he asks.

Matt just kind of shrugs and settles back in Foggy’s lap.

“I might say yes,” he says, shutting his eyes again.

third panel: matt kisses kirsten on the lips and says, “see ya tomorrow, beautiful.”

fourth to eighth panels: matt comes home, and his apartment is dark. he takes his shoes off and hangs his white cane. he goes up the stairs while he takes his shirt off. he sits on his bed, takes his glasses off, then curls up in his bed, facing away. there is no text aside from the daredevil logo to imply that the issue has ended.

ninth-twelfth panels: matt’s phone rings, and he picks it up to answer.

thirteenth panel: matt is laying on his side, and he begins to say, “hey—“ but is cut off by kirsten on the phone saying, “‘ducky’? who says that? did you really fool anyone into believing you were your own twin brother once? because i have seen horses on mexican soap operas that are better actors than you!” matt continues his initial sentence by saying, “—there.”

fourteenth panel: matt is lying on his back now, and says, “i just...i feel like talking. you don’t have to come over or anything...” kirsten tells him, “of course i don’t.”

fifteenth to eighteenth panels: kirsten is sitting on the floor next to matt’s apartment door. she says into her phone, “i never left.” she looks at his door, which unlocks.

nineteenth panel: kirsten smiles and says, “thanks for letting me in.” end image id.]
