I think they purposely didn’t give a name because it would be an attempt to domestic the whale which is part of the ongoing conflict in the game
The whale in DDI…she never had a name right? She was just the “orphan orca?”

If you could have a sound track as your theme music, what would it be?
Hands down mine would be Legend from CRY.

CLK playthrough now. Really enjoying it a lot cause 1) it's just a treasure hunt and 2) it logically flows. Obviously it's simpler than some of the other games but I think that works to it's advantage. Playing on senior detective without a checklist in some of the other games is really difficult for me (especially if I can't finish the game in one session) cause I forget what there even is to do, and the things that need doing don't logically add up. But here in CLK, I got stumped at a section, and my first thought turned out to be the correct way to progress, cause it made sense! "Oh I need another mirror drat where would I find that??? Thought I already checked all the clocks! Oh, but I guess I didn't check Josiah's house..." and badda bing badda boom wouldn't ya know, another clock. No spending hours searching the entire game setting over and over to only keep missing the same tiny detail each time
Also, love love love delivering telegrams. I know driving in these games is a little contentious, some people hate it, but I love it.

Another thing I like about the older games (that I didn't like as a kind if I'm being honest) is how much is really left up to the player to put together. I missed a lot of little clues as a kid cause I was unobservant, but they're there if you pay attention. In the newer games you often have to click on things and make Nancy comment on them, which frankly makes me pay less attention. It becomes more of a "click on everything to make the game progress" thing rather than a "observe and deduce" thing. But in this game there are many things that Nancy never comments on (like the cut phone wire) that I am just now noticing and I love it.

Ned’s Personality/Character
It’s hard to describe Ned’s personality/character without sounding like a Nedcy shipper. I am, but that’s not the point. I think it’s where I or any others kind of lose people when talking about it.
Cause remember the entire reason Ned exists was to be Nancy’s love interest and his personality/character is tailored to be exactly that. Edna Stratemeyer (Harriet’s sister) once called him perfect husband material for Nancy.
I think this is why people understand why people ship Ned and Nancy when they read the books (specifically originals). Which I feel is a key component to writing Ned that is lost in a lot of the other versions of him. Book Ned is the blueprint for what is required to be Nancy Drew’s love interest.
You don’t have to make everyone ship them you just have to get them to understand why she’s with him. Don’t make it that she’s with him because he’s a nice and sweet guy. That’s only part of who he is. Write that without forgetting that he’s clever, curious, adventurous, selfless, brave, capable(when the plot demands it), persistent, stubborn, trustworthy, charming, dependable, occasionally impulsive, adaptable, quick-witted, hard-working man who can honestly get a little vindictive at times but we can discuss that later.
Nancy has said multiple times and in a few different ways she like having Ned around because they actually think very similarly. Also that that makes him a really good person to talk cases with because he understands how her mind works and yet can provide some insight from his own point of view. This is shown more explicitly in the rare cases where he’s left to investigate by himself, Mystery of the Winged Lion is a great example of this where his friend Dave jokingly calls him “Nancy Drew” for getting really into the fact their room was broken into.
Ned’s meant to hit all the bases for what Nancy needs in a relationship. This might be the slightest bit controversial (not in a bad way), but if you create another character to be Nancy’s “perfect” love interest, chances are you might just make Ned again (maybe without realizing it).
Also Frank and Joe fit these bases too in their own way. Doesn’t make them Neds though.
This is just a long rambly way of saying, some people seem to stop Ned at the generic love interest level, where his personality/character is being nice and attracted to another character. A specific character’s love interest can be completely different from a generic one because it has to suit their desires and needs from a relationship. Not to mention that Ned is still his own person while being her love interest. Which is really important when writing love interests.
Ned actually has a personality, can it be used?
