Waru scavenges through trash piles and dumps to look for discarded stuffed animals for Yasei! Yasei is huge on soft objects, helps calm him down.

Are the Dark turtles' abilities similar or any differences between the Hamato turtles?

As a matter of fact! There are!

Big Mama couldn’t create them to inherit true mystic powers, so instead she infused each one of the Dark Turtles with an elemental attribute. Designing each one’s biology to be able to produce and manipulate their respective element.

Their marks and eyes will glow whenever their powers are activated, just like the normal turtles, but are all unable to truly use any Mystic powers.

I've had so much brainrot with developing the Dark Turtles' story in the Rise universe!

One of the biggest being that Big Mama created the Dark Turtles as a sort of "revenge/Extra security" with the normal Turtles.

She mainly uses them to participate in the battle Nexus on the occasion, to send them out on retrieval missions, or to deal with a rowdy patron who's causing a ruckus.

Big Mama only sends them out to hunt down their counterparts after the Turtles defeat another obligatory evil and destroy part of her hotel. This angers her to a point where she wants payback and sends the Dark Turtles to capture them.

The Dark Turtles have been around for a few months by the time they first make contact with their counterparts, so they've been aware that they are clones, and pretty much resent their doppelgangers for no other reason than they exist.

And unfortunately, I am gonna say that the Dark Turtles are treated pretty much the same as they were in the 2003 series; struggle for food, hatred of their creator...

But they do have a slightly better bond with each other, and actually trust each other to an extent. They blame their counterparts 'stupid feelings' for making actually care about each other.

Nashi is most guilty of 'caring'. He takes the punishments and blame the most so the others don't get as badly hurt, because he hates the idea of his brothers getting hurt more than himself getting hurt. (Classic self sacrifice bullshit from Leo)

I'll probably talk more about story beats and interactions if people are interested!

What does the dark turtles' names mean and how do you come up with them ?

So I came up with their names when I was 12, so many years ago!

I legit just put words into Google Translate and called it a day. They're English words that described them.

Nashi -> Noble

Tekku -> Tech

Waru -> Evil

Yasei -> Wild
