A page swap I did with nat "dead teens" thurmples of Dark Carnival fame!! The gist was that we each did a sketch of our comics, then gave it to the other person to render. so the black stuff stains their fur, but animal fur naturally falls out and grows back.. so would the staining eventually fade with time as they shed? or is this just some kind of super stubborn demon thing where it just refuses to leave

the stains get into the skin as well as the fur, so any fur always grows back stained. it’ll fade with time kind of like a tattoo with no upkeep, but takes ages to disappear completely (etc etc i don’t have any actual science planned out for this reasoning, it’s just for story/thematic purposes that it’s like a permanent blemish on whoever has it)

if they shaved the fur with the dark stuff on it would it regrow with normal colors just curious

the demon goo stains go pretty deep— they get into the roots of the fur follicles (if that’s the right term) and any fur that grows in will be stained, even if it’s shaved down. think of it like tattoo ink on human skin. the stains fade very very slowly over time, but it takes like 30+ years for a stain to go away completely, and it can’t be bleached over either. unfortunately if you get a stain, it’s there to stay :(

Does Sydney sometimes think about what her friends would say/do if they were with her in her current situation?

she does sometimes— she spends a lot of her time in the train car just crying, and it’s usually spurred on by spiraling thoughts about her friends. it’s only made worse by the fact that she believes herself to be responsible for 3 of the 5 deaths (sam died to save her, acro killed luke & brennan while in her body) and is wracked by guilt about it. she often wishes she’d died along with her friends, just to get out of the horrible situation she’s ended up in but also so she could see them again, but at the same time she’s terrified by the idea that they’d hate her for what she (acro) has done. lots to unpack with no time to do it unfortunately

Staghan, why are you so nervous all the time? Do you have any demons/colleague demons that comfort you while you’re stressed?

If not, do you just trust them when they don’t believe you etc. Cause when you thought Finn (The Demon Hunter) was in the grounds, Acro was complaining, and everyone didn’t seem too scared. I can guess you made a mistake before right?

Staghan: I just get nervous when there’s hunters around. They used to be so much less of a threat, but now there’s so many of them, and they’ve got way better gadgets than they used to have. (He glances off to the side.) I get called paranoid for it sometimes, especially by Acro. But Ringmaster understands why I’m like that. No one wants to go back downstairs.
