[7/22/20] Viceroy, Limenitis archippus.

Accidentally cut a branch with a chrysalis on it from my willow and wasn’t sure if it was a Red-Spotted Purple (Limenitis arthemis) or a Viceroy (both feed on willow and are in the Limenitis genus; it’s thought they evolved from a single ancestor - the caterpillars and chrysalis are near-identical). Turns out it was a Viceroy, who just eclosed today - here they are sunning themselves by the window.
