The old Tannhaus remembers when he was a child, when his father read from the book Ariadne, that everything remains the same. His father had a Sic Mundus cane and triquetra ring. His father tells him that his mother loved the play, and would have loved to be with them that evening. He opens a watch which is inscribed "For Charlotte". Tannhaus asks his father why we die, but his father tells him that they are never truly dead, because everything lives on forever in the eternity of time....In different times and worlds, Jonas and Martha work to gain each other's trust.

*Adam and Eve, in the Abrahamic tradition, are the first humans. God creates a paradise, the Garden of Eden, for them to live in, but they disobey Him and are expelled.
