It's pride month so I'll allow myself to express one opinion on the internet :

There are no "exact color" of pride flags.

I see more and more sites and posts talking about the exact hex codes for the lesbian flag, or the right purple for the ace one, and how it should be more or less saturated and I just want to say: pride flags were meant to be sewn in your kitchen. To be spraypainted and to be recognised.

There are no "exact colors" of pride flags because you should do them with what you have ! Nobody should care if you use a crimson red instead of a cherry red or whatever ! Be free ! wave your colors ! The colors you have !

just so you know i wrote a poem one time that i hated and i was so so so embarrassed about but i had to post it as part of a whole situation with some friends and it got like 3 million likes across my socials and people made zines about it and adapted it to songs

and then i wrote a poem a month ago and i was like "this is my best work yet. it's the most important piece to me i've ever written and sharing it will be self actualizing." my friends didn't even like it.

and the point here is that i talk to so many artists who make something successful and then they're so scared to follow it up and they say "what if the next thing i make sucks?"

it might! that's art babbeeyyyyyy!! so make a third thing!

A good rule of thumb for AI is "would you trust a trained pigeon to do this?"

"We trained a pigeon to recognise cancerous cell clusters and somehow they're really good at it" okay great, that's something that could plausibly be a thing.

"We trained a pigeon to recognise good CV:s and left it in charge of sorting through all our job applications" uh perhaps consider not doing that.

people are so entrenched in the fucked up idea of victim/perpetrator as a discrete dichotomy that they let it bleed into their discussions on societal oppression in a way that makes them both factually incorrect as hell and infantilizing and dehumanizing as fuck

a common example i see is white people saying stuff like “ohh the indigenous peoples were all so harmonious and peaceful until the evil white people arrived” and like… that’s just blatantly wrong?? much like groups of people around the world there was plenty of fighting and things like that and infantilizing indigenous people by taking about them like harmless toddlers is actually really shitty and racist behaviour

you’ll also see it in the way white people with guilt about being culturally christian talk about every other religion as if they’ve never done anything bad ever and christianity is the only religion that has ever harmed anyone (again this is factually incorrect and infantilizing)

but the core issue is that these people can’t seem to reconcile this because they have this idea that being a “victim” means someone is 100% morally pure and innocent always and forever and being a “perpetrator” means someone who is 100% cartoonishly evil 24/7

Having a really long-term hyperfixation that has since faded is terrifying yes but it's also so embarrassing. Hi I used to think about Scrimblo Splungus 25/7. Yeah, for 2 years straight. Nah, I don't think about them anymore except for with a vague sense of melancholy as I recall how they used to make me feel. Anyways this new one, Blimpkins McGee? I'm gonna think about them forever and the cycle will NOT repeat in 2 years. Trust me guys.

I get so frustrated when people try to draw lines in the sand regarding misogyny and types of misogyny and male privilege especially when it comes to trans people.

Like I only pass as a man most of the time, I transitioned in my early adulthood, I’m afraid to wear skirts because of social stigma around men doing so, I got affected by misogyny aimed at little girls growing up, and I still have the ability to get pregnant.

Where exactly does my male privilege begin and end here? Am I tme because I’m not transfem or not because I’d like to wear dresses but am stopped by social stigma around men doing so? Was I “socialized” to be a girl? Do I have male privilege when I pass but not when I don’t? How am I to know then when I do or do not have male privilege because I don’t know when I meet someone if they read me as a man or a woman?

Like all of these lines in the sand are idiotic and piss me off. We’re all supposed to be on the same damn team here.

It’s sad how much of what is taught in school is useless to over 99% of the population.

There are literally math concepts taught in high school and middle school that are only used in extremely specialized fields or that are even so outdated they aren’t used anymore!
