If Johnny lived I can see him being more or less a private person, he married in 1979 without anyone knowing until the gang saw the ring on his finger. He had a kid and just one because he fears that he may end up like his parents but in reality he breaks it and his kid has an amazing life. He also got a job at a homeless shelter so he can fill the hole of being alone most nights as a teen.

Dallas ended up with Sylvia again and gets married five different times in the 70s and has like three kids with her until he leaves her and ends up marrying his widow in 1982. As much as I want to say he makes it, he really doesn't. He passes in the 90s because he fucked around and found out basically. He never had a job or could never stay in one so he practically had no money on his name and the gang isn't as surprised as they thought they would be.

Now Cherry on the other hand, she ends up finding love again and marries after graduating high-school and gets pregnant 3 years later. She does end reconnecting with Ponyboy again after she finds out that he is a writer to congratulate him. They get close and actually ended up being a friend that her kids call their uncle :)

Darry married in 1966 but became a widow in 2018 after his wife passed. He had 3 kids and named them after his brothers and probably one of them is named after him too 💀 my man has 4 grandkids. I can see him being in anything that deals with being blue collared later in life

Ponyboy never had kids ( sorry can’t imagine him having kids at all ) but married in 1986. He ended up being very successful in his life and will always mention Johnny and Dallas whenever anyone asks him about why he became in whatever he does in the future.

Sodapop has been in three marriages but tied the knot with someone in 1989. He has 2 kids from a previous marriage and in his current relationship he has 3 more, he definitely has about 7 grandchildren. He also stays in the car business until he retires.

Steve ends up marrying Evie in 1964 and still is together until today! They had 5 kids together and have 8 grandchildren and have 3 great grandkids. Steve is 100% still in the car business but doesn’t retire until he’s actually like about to die but we will ignore that.

Two-Bit is over the goddamn place. Almost dies like 2 times due to liver failure but the third time he actually hits the hay in 2006 . He ended up marrying 5 women in his life and ended up with 12 children as well. He never married anyone afterwards except he left behind his 30 year old girlfriend who ended up pregnant with his kid. You cannot even count how many grandkids and great grandkids he had. Also he ended up becoming a bartender and the bar he worked at did a big memorial for him.

modern headcanons for the gang BUT WITH A TWIST 😱 they were still teenagers in the 60s!!

- darry: he turned 79 in january 2024! somehow the stress of the 1960s hasn't caught up to him yet bc he honestly thought he would be 6 feet underground by age 50 💀 soda and pony are surprised he's still hangin on, but happy nonetheless. darry and pony actually grew closer together after soda enlisted, and they realized they had more in common than they originally thought! pony, who once considered darry his biggest hater, now considers darry his biggest supporter 🤟🏽 darry’s widowed after his wife of 50 years passed away in 2020, but he has a couple of kids and a handful of grandchildren to keep him busy

- two-bit: he is not as lucky as darry – the years of drinking, smoking, and other forms of substance abuse caught up to him and he passed away in 2006, just a few months shy of turning 59. pony retorts he's surprised two wasn't gone by 1969, considering how dal’s and johnny’s deaths affected him. as of 2006, he left behind 4 ex-wives and 7 children. as of 2024, 2 more children have been found through ancestry.com 🤷🏽‍♀️

- steve plans to retire for the third time in 2024 when he is 76. he retired in 2014, but got too bored; he retired again in 2020, but once again was too bored. he got married to evie straight out of high school and will be celebrating 57 years of marriage this june. soda and his fam come over for dinner at their house every sunday night

- sodapop fell HARD and FAST with every person he met after sandy. poor boy’s been married 3 times, but he finally found the one! he married a slightly older woman in 1977 who had her own children from a previous relationship, but soda took them in like they were his own. along with his 2 stepchildren, they went on to have 2 more. soda loves his 9 grandkids he's such a good grandpa

- hinton said pony would've voted for Obama, so canonically ponyboy is a lib.
