This doesn’t fit the theme but these pictures of Simone de Rochefort showing off the new Polygon merch are SO GOOD. Merch can be found at sandvideo.fun
Some people enjoy the content from the other Polygon producers too, and it’s extremely disheartening to read the comments under Pat or Josh’s latest videos and half of them are shit like this (wonder why Pat’s video has so few comments? Because someone went in on Friday night and deleted all the ones about Brian. There’s more this morning, though, of course.)
Makes me ashamed to be a fan of Brian’s. There’s plenty of examples of a content creator ending up with a terrible reputation solely because of their fandom, and nobody who enjoys their work actually wants to admit to being a fan because their fans are known to be obnoxious little shits. Don’t turn Brian into one of those creators, please.
Please, if you have any leads on writing, editing, or production jobs, send them to Ashley Oh. She was let go from both Polygon and Gamespot last year, which was super shitty. Please help Ashley, she rules and deserves better.
people saying that unraveled is the only good thing on polygon is so bizarre to me?? like claytons inscrutable orbs video is RIGHT THERE.
RIGHT?? And so is Jenna’s what If Digimon won video! and Simone’s interior design video!! and Pat’s doom slapstick video!!! that’s literally just stuff off the top of my head- there’s so much good, memorable, hilarious content they’ve produced AS A TEAM!
Not to mention we don’t know what kind of videos Josh will produce yet!! Even if for some reason you don’t really vibe with the rest of the video production team, I’m willing to bet that what he does will be fresh, new and worth sticking around for!
supporting Brian’s right to do whatever he wants in his career and understanding that he’s still going to continue making delightfully weird content
and
being sad that we’re not gonna get more of the specific weird content he produces on polygon and/or being unsettled by the change in general
aren’t contradictory, and
Polygon is a website with 5 other video producers who are still around doing their best to produce excellent content, and a lot of Brian’s content wouldn’t have been possible without them either
and
Polygon as a website has been severely under-utilising these other video producers and has been producing fewer and fewer of the kinds of video series the fanbase fell in love with, and have been leaning more heavily on Brian-led content, such that they’re going to have to make some significant changes if they’re going to maintain their popularity
here’s the thing. the mcelroys created polygon’s channel and then they left and brian david gilbert bought in a new wave of people and then he left and something else is gonna start and it’s gonna be good
honestly i’m not surprised that brian is leaving, i think that it he’s natural growth process, i just hope polygon won’t lose a lot of followers or attention because i, among others, really do value the stuff they do besides unraveled. that being said i am sad to see him go, the videos he was a part of mean a lot to me. i cannot wait to see what he does next.
I saw someone making a comment about how Unraveled was the “only good thing on polygon” and how they were leaving with Brian and if anyone thinks that way I am begging you to watch their other stuff because it is fantastic. Polygon has made and will continue to make great content and that has never been reliant on one video producer.
