The RAGE. I love how Arakawa did this. She frequently shows people's irises unshaded in particularly big negative emotion (anger, shock, deadly focus), and the contrast really highlights how tiny and focused their pupils are - that's gotta be the point. But the whole picture makes Roy look boiling.
He's just come from the Elric's house, burst in through Pinako's door where his guide tells him the Elric boys (just kids) would be, and he's been full of motion, then just stops at the sight of Ed, in complete anger at the mess of blood and illegal alchemy he found at their house. Like he's taking in the culprit but not Ed's horrible condition.
Then

Al makes him stop yelling at/pulling at Ed. This suit of armour with a child's voice echoing out of it.
And his eyebrows are still so intense - a shade lighter without the (not cross-hatching ... just hatching??) between them - but still bent in ...
But the rage is sinking away into confusion, into grief, into understanding that Ed didn't kill his brother with his alchemy but somehow managed to save him. He's starting to see not just the Horrible Act that had consequences, but also to really get a feel for the consequences.
And the genius of those boys. The military will not leave them here if it gets wind of this. They're going to be pursued, but he can't let them be devoured by what the military would do to them. They're already so broken.

Finally reading Fullmetal Alchemist for the first time (after watching FMAB twice + reading sections online) and all I can think is…. Why is Roy like this

Like he is SO smug all the time no WONDER so many people are irritated with him. You get that sense in FMAB, but it really shines through when reading the manga that he is, indeed, an a$$ with a heart of gold.

I mean… if this isn’t enough proof….

And pulling this joyful face moments before basically blackmailing Ed to be a good dog of the military because he knows too much (I.e. illegal alchemy). That sly fox, I love him.

Riza's firmness with the boys here really hits. Trust her. She knows what you've done, what it looked like, and she knows it's going to be too like your most horrible memories. She knows you can't unsee death. She knows.

kimmuriel’s ioun stone's orbit inclines away when someone he highly approves shifts closer to him
which is why when rai'gy sets his head on kimmuriel’s shoulder, the ioun stone shifts to some ugly angle to accommodate for the obstacle on the way, but when jarlaxle tries to do the same, the ioun stone smacks him straight in the forehead, even if it was orbiting the other way prior to jarlaxle moving closer
