Relationship: Buck/Eddie Rating: G Word count: 5k Summary: It’s five years since the Tsunami and the city is remembering the disaster with a whole series of memorials, events, exhibitions and more.

Eddie worries about Buck but can’t do much to help his friend who isn’t dealing well with all the reminders.

It all comes to a head during a call and Buck has no choice but to confront it, once and for all.

Enemies to Lovers but in that very specific way where Person B turns Person A's face to get a better look at a bruise that they definitely didn't put there and B says, maybe even growls a little bit, "Who did this?"

Let me explain.

Enemies, right? Your OTP fights with each other all the time. It's not unusual for someone to walk away bruised or marked up. It's what they do. That's who they are.

But they start shifting, right? The jabs and barbs soften, lose their heat but start burning in a different way. It become less about making their day miserable and more about just wanting to be part of their day.

But your OTP isn't alone in the world. There are other enemies, right?

They're basically lovers at this point if they would ever just admit it. The sexual tension between them has long been due to snap. They're meeting up now to just be together, not to antagonize or quip. But what's this?

Person B greets A as usuall, waves at them from a distance. B notices that A is doing anything they can to avoid looking right at B. That won't do. That won't do at all.

"Hey," B says, grabbing A's arm, not too hard but hard enough to make sure A knows this is an inescapable discussion, "What's wrong?" They've come too far to lose it all now.

But A still won't turn their face towards B.

B softens their grip when they can feel A trembling. "Hey," B says, whisper-soft, concerned. B places a hand on A's cheek and forces their eyes to meet, a small gasp escaping at the sight revealed to them.

A's bruised and scuffed up. Beneath B's immediate concern is a boiling pit of rage. B's gentle press around the worst of the bruises belies their dark tone. "Who did this?"

You get what I'm saying? Enemies to Lovers in this very specific way.

K-Dramas with a Found Family element

Be Melodramatic: A group of friends move in to an apartment to support their friend who is going through a rough time. I love how she doesn’t ask for help - they just casually move in using random excuses so she doesn’t feel burdened.

Your House Helper: A group of girl friends move into their friend’s house to help with the rent and support her through the loss of her father. This is a quiet and sweet slice of life with a ton of great friendship and romance too.

Thirty But Seventeen: A girl in a coma ends up living with a damaged boy and his nephew, along with their unusual housekeeper. The nephews friends also join in to make this household excellent and wholesome.

Tale of Nokdu: I’m not sure this one totally counts, but I love how Nokdu’s island family bonds with Dong Joo, and a few side characters including some widow assassins (yes, i said that!) and a silly guy who at first crushes on Nokdu. Because it’s historical, this takes a while to come together but it does happen.

It’s Okay, That’s Love: A group of people all dealing with different levels of mental illness and family issues, live in a house together. They love and fight and support one another like family.

Terius Behind Me: I love how a secret agent becomes a caring nanny to a single mom’s children as a disguise. He befriends her, loves the kids and becomes friends with the neighborhood watch group. These neighbors have each other’s backs and are just plain amazing friends!

When The Camellia Blooms: This one has a strange found family element with the part-timer who works at the leads bar, and her real mom who abandoned her as a child but returns with dementia. The town treats them all poorly but come together to support her in the end like a weird tough love family.

Age of Youth: This isn’t quite found family because everyone is living in the same home for school mostly, but they do all fight like family and come together to support one another which I love so I say it counts!

Real question. Do the 118 know about what happened to Buck and Christopher during the Tsunami?!!?!

Like they must know the basics, the pier, the fire truck, them being separated.

But do they know that Buck saved other people? Do they know that he played eye spy with Christopher to cheer him up? And turned him away from the dead bodies in the water? Do they know he walked for hours trying to find Christopher? That he was injured will looking for him?

More importantly does Eddie know?!?!!

Cause we see that Eddie thinks Buck lost Chris, but doesn’t blame him. But does he know that Buck jumped into the water after Chris something that was damn near suicide?! Does he know the lengths Buck went to try and get Christopher back to him?!!

Cause we never see them discuss this or mention it?!!

And I need them to discuss this. For Eddie to see that Buck will and always has gone to the extremes for Chris. I need Eddie to realise that he made the right choice in putting Buck in his will. I just… I want them to discuss this (not just Buck and Eddie but all the 118)

While not very far into the story yet, this first chapter packs a punch. As a lover of hurt/comfort, this fic will leave you thrilled with it’s descriptions. Very well written.

Benny's soup has magical healing powers. Or three times Steve takes care of someone else, and one time he gets taken care of.

One of my all time favorite fics, although the Steddie is light, is there. A commonly used trope, this fic centers around Steve progressively sicker after helping all of his sick friends, which like *swoon* It’s so perfect and I love it dearly. 100000/10 I highly recommend.

five times Eddie was forced to have dinner with the Harringtons and the one time he refused.

Very very good, but equally devastating. It’s all in the way that Steve feels like he deserves to be treated badly, and Eddie’s insistence otherwise.

It’s the first time in a while that he doesn’t know what comes next. He’s dove into the water hundreds of times. Screamed as his flesh was torn apart, heard Master of Puppets in the distance and held back tears. Felt Max’s cold, small hand in his as she laid in the hospital bed. There are things that always happen, no matter how hard he tries: El doesn’t arrive in time. Eddie dies. Max is put in a coma. Steve fails. They lose. “Steve. How many loops have you been through?” His head is nodding, and his eyes are watery, and Eddie has approached him like a spooked animal. “I lost count.” AKA: The one where Steve Harrington is stuck in a time loop, and Eddie Munson is really fucking hard to save

Incredibly well written, the characterization is immaculate and the way they write the trauma and exhaustion that Steve is going through is *chefs kiss*

“Is he whining about Eddie being mean to him again?” Robin is leaning in the doorway, eating a leftover slice that’s probably cold by now. “You talk about him more than you talk about girls, Steve, it’s getting concerning. Anyone would think you had a crush.” or, steve is pretty convinced eddie now hates him. turns out eddie has the opposite problem.

Obviously I couldn’t make this list without including one of the most popular fics for Steddie. It’s popularity is incredibly well deserved and the slow burn enemies to lovers trope is done with absolute perfection. Definitely a must read.

A new crush on the newest member of their group doesn't help at all.

I love seeing Steve discover how loved he is, and this fic definitely ticks that box. 10/10.

Or where Eddie Munson doesn´t believe Steve Harrington has changed. It only takes a challenge to show him he has.

Wowzers do I love this fic. Like it's possibly the best one I've ever read. I mean this in the absolute best way, but this is like a trainwreck waiting to happen. You can definitely feel Eddie’s love and respect growing for Steve, and vice versa, but there’s a nagging feeling as a reader when you know that some devastating angst is on it’s way. 10000/10 I love this fic.

He remembered screaming. He could excuse it as panic, the threat of the unknown piling on top of everything he’d already bore witness to over the past days. But really, Steve’s grim smile and 'no complaints' echoed in his head, and Eddie couldn’t help but feel like this should have been expected.

or, Eddie notices that Steve is a little too willing to jump head-first into danger, literally, and can't fight the urge to figure out why.

Another very sweet story of Steve learning about his own self worth, just with a little extra spiciness. Love this!!!

Anyone who has read my work can tell you that I’m a sucker for insecure Steve, and this fic delivers.He’s a bit of a mess, but aren’t we all?

The lights are on despite it being past midnight, and Steve can hear some loud crashing sounds even from where he’s standing outside. “Fuck it,” Steve says, deciding he better go in. He runs into the trailer at once, bat in hand, thanking whoever left the door unlocked. He’s taken aback at the scene. Max is kneeling on the ground, pleading with her mother to calm down. There’s shattered glass everywhere on the floor, broken beer bottles lined up against the walls. Max is barefoot, only wearing thin pyjamas, and is slightly shaking. The whole room stinks of alcohol.

Or: 5 times Steve cared for someone and 1 time someone took care of him.

Mama Steve again, but this time, he’s not messing around. 10/10 highly recommend.

Months after the final Upside Down battle, Steve and Robin are working at Family video. Despite Hawkins still being a ghost town. Eddie has finally graduated. He and his uncle Wayne have moved into a nicer house in a nicer part of Hawkins. Wayne doesn't want The Hellfire club the have meeting at the new place because he wanted it to be kept clean. Somehow Steve gets stuck with the role as host for The Hellfire club's Saturday DnD game.

Steve has really shitty parents, luckily Eddie is the best. Very well written and the ending is very gratifying.  10000/10

That is, of course, until the twins come to him with a simple request: go to Parents Night and sign them up for Mr. Munson's Dungeons and Dragons club.

Or, the one where Steve is a tired and overworked DILF who may or may not be smitten with his kids' eccentric and bizarre English teacher.

Super fucking cute! I love the portrayal of both Steve and Eddie in this so much!!!! I can’t wait to continue reading and seeing where this story goes.

One of the best smut fics I’ve read! It’s very sweet to see how much the pair care for each other, while still giving you that satisfying vulnerability that leaves you feeling satisfied.

Steve always seemed so unaffected, which led to some brutal honesty, Sometimes he just wished it could be a bit less brutal. Then again, he was the meanest to himself.

Okay so this one is obviously my work, but what can I say, I recommend it haha. I will shamelessly self promote. In all honesty though, this is the piece I'm proudest of and I would love to share it with as many people I can. I wouldn't put it as high ranking as these other fics, but it's special to me.

leon wonders when merlin had started to become friend, family, more than servant, more than arthur's, but his (theirs, gwaine's smiles said, was screamed by gwen's hugs, lancelot's quiet hushes. theirs.)

leon had grown up with morgana and arthur, and being a few years older than them he had taken on the role as the older brother.

it had been easy.

it was leon morgana arthur, never separated, holding each other's hands and backs.

thick as thieves, always together, and leon took the role of protecting arthur, and then he became a knight and he swore an oath to uther but mostly to the prince.

he looked at his friend brother prince king and he swore.

because leon would protect arthur no matter what.

and life goes on, in a way, and people grow, like they're supposed to do, and things change, and leon's days are filled with patrols and trainings and aching limbs and orders to follow.

it leavea him aching.

then.

then this boy comes in, all limbs and no muscles and even less brain cause he has to be at the very least a fool to pick a fight with arthur, of all people.

and leon watches, because he is a knight, no matter that the prince is being an asshole and a bully.

(which he wasn't as a kid. he was sweet and nice and shy and kind, and leon would always remember the way he used to shake when there were thunders, hiding himself under the covers; he would never forget the soft smiles he would give him, the time he had cried because morgana had fallen down and scraped his knees, the concentrated look when he wanted to comfort her but didnt know how to actually do it. arthur had been a sweet child, but he also was uther's son, and he wanted to make him proud.)

(and then the raid happened and arthur spiraled and closed himself and not even leon can reach for him anymore.

you're too far away, he wants to cry.

he offers his arm, but arthur turns around everytime.)

(leon nowdays wonders if arthur the kid is forever dead, sacrificed to arthur the son. it shouldn't sadden him, but it does. he thinks, leon morgana arthur, but now it's leon, and morgana, and arthur, with all those empty spaces, all looking at different walls.)

the gangly boy is lost and gone within the day.

until he saves arthur's life and becomes his manservant, that's it, and now leon has to spend all the time watching as this boy, merlin, keeps threatening the prince, calling him a prat, insulting him?

leon thinks he hit the head and he is in some other alternative universe because there is no way that this servant can act like that, without any sense of proprierty, almost friendly, with the crown prince without facing some punishment.

but arthur doesn't send him away. he talks back, jokes with him, and something slowly begins to melt in his prince. something blooms into spring again, weak and tentative, but it's there.

(and maybe leon is jealous, because when was the last time that he and arthur had joked like that? they used to run across the castle, hiding from maids. morgana would convince arthur to pull pranks, and arthur would drag leon along, and the three of them would laugh and play all day.

they used to spend nights huddled together, talking about everything, dreaming about the future. arthur would talk about slaying monsters and being a hero, and morgana would roll her eyes and say that leon was way more hero-like. leon would blush and say that he would defend them both from evil. he would later trip on the sheets and arthur would laugh at him while helping him up, before softly asking him if he was alright, corcern painting his eyes, and morgana would call him "my knight" with a cheeky smile, but they were happy.)

(now they talk less and leon calls arthur "sire" and "my prince" and all these titles, and he has forgotten how arthur's name tastes like in his mouth. and here he is, merlin, a servant, calling arthur a prat, a clotpole,  a dollophead, calling him arthur.)

leon doesn't know how to deal with merlin.

then merlin follows arthur into danger.

and again.

and again.

merlin is dead set onto going with arthur everywhere. merlin drinks poison for arthur. merlin jumps in front of bandits for arthur. merlin will do everything for arthur.

and once, leon tells him he shouldnt do this, he is just a servant, it is not his job to protect the prince.

and merlin gives him this long weird look and he purses his lips and leon doesnt know how to interpret all this, and says, you're right, its not a servant's job, and leaves it at it.

and he goes with them to the next quest anyway, which confuses leon even more.

it's not until one day merlin pushes leon out of a bandit's way, almost getting skewered by a blade, that he finally understands.

arthur fusses over merlin, pretending not to care, but his eyes lingers too much, and his hands are shaky, and merlin laughs at him and calls him a mother hen, which makes the prince pout. then the prince looks at leon and asks him if he is okay, and the concern is still there, it has never aged away, and leon is breathless and can only nod, and stare at merlin.

merlin stares back.

merlin was right, it's not a servant's job to risk their own life like this.

but merlin is not just a servant. he is their friend.

and leon thanks him, and merlin just shrugs him off, but there's a blush on his cheeks. then arthur calls for merlin, the moment broken and so many unsaid words piling in leon's mouth. merlin goes to aid the prince, leaving with an apologetic smile. he watches them as they joke around together and he watches as arthur's touch seems to hover on merlin's shoulder.

and leon understands.

(he thinks about how he has really failed. not as a knight, but as a friend. because leon had sworn to protect arthur but he had forgotten that, sometimes, what one needs protection from are not sorcerers or bandits or gigantic beasts. sometimes people need protection from themselves. and sometimes you don't protect someone with a sword, sometimes you do that with a kind word, a pulled prank or a gentle hand.)

merlin is always at arthur's side, at their side. and leon swears a second oath, one night, when the younger boy is lying too still on the ground, pained gasps rattling out of his lips as the fever rises together with infection.

arthur is asleep, next to him, he hasn't left merlin, and there is a furrow on his forehead he wishes to smother.

(arthur, sweet loving arthur, with scratches on his hands, and dirt on his cheeks, always full of love and nowhere to place it. looking for a father to give it, for someone to treasure it.

arthur and his bleeding heart.

merlin had stumbled his way in, with all his stubborness and loud loyalty and blinding affection, and without knowing it, arthur had placed that same heart in merlin's caring hands.

and merlin will die before any harm comes to it.)

(he does a good job at that, leon muses. merlin is too good for them all.)

you protect us all, he thinks, taking in the shaky figure, the flimsy blanket hiding the scar covered chest, but those scars are burnt on leon's mind and he doesn't need to see them to know they are there.

because merlin was never supposed to have scars.

friendship, a voice sighs in his mind.

you protect us all, but who protects you?

and leon kneels, in the middle of the night, between trees and sleeping knights, with merlin's shudders and the rustling of the wind, he kneels for the second time in his life, and he swears.

"to merlin of ealdor," he promises.

2021: Top 10 Fave Kdramas

1. Move to Heaven (Netflix)

So much heart in this show. If you haven't watched it, do yourself a favour in 2022 and watch this.

2. Happiness (tvN)

If I am being a 100% honest, this tied with Move to Heaven for the top spot. Zombies and a badass OTP.....just perfect.

3. Our Beloved Summer (tvN) - Ongoing

When I watched the first 2 episodes I did not think I would end up loving this show as much as I do right now, 8 episodes in. It feels so bittersweet in the best way possible.

4. Bad and Crazy (tvN) - Ongoing

Every week I just have so much fun watching this show. And male lead with questionable morals? And looks like Lee Dong Wook? Erm yes.

5. The Red Sleeve (MBC) - Ongoing

It's been a while since I've enjoyed a sageuk and I really really enjoy this. There's a good balance of palace politics and romance, plus the chemistry is so good. And angst. Lots of angst.

6. Vincenzo (tvN)

Talking about male leads with questionable morals how can I not include Vincenzo on this list. The cast was just sooooo good.

7. Beyond Evil (JTBC)

Really fantastic writing. Had me on the edge of my seat with every episode.

8. Law School (JTBC)

The final reveal left me a little underwhelmed but the most of the show was a fun watch.

9. My Roommate is a Gumiho (tvN)

The comedy was pretty great in this. The romances were cute. BUT my favourite was the plantonic relationships of this drama. *chef's kiss*

10. Mr Queen (tvN)

Comedy gold. Would have been higher on my list if the ending was a little better. Still, it was a fun time.
