The Struggle
I’m sure it’s been obvious for awhile now. I’m struggling. The struggle is real and this is not a joke. I have been struggling day to day for quite some time now. I don’t want to get out of bed in the morning. I don’t want to do anything all day long. I’m content to lay in bed and just be. Existence is enough right now. But I need that to change. I want it to change. I don’t want every day to be a struggle any more. SO I’m being brutally honest right here and right now. In hopes that maybe this will hold me accountable. I need to ask for help. I realized this week that for my entire life I’ve felt like asking for help paints a negative picture of me. That somehow if I need to ask for help it means that I’m weak. Why else would I even need help? If I have to ask for help that must mean that I’m a burden. That I’m getting in someone else’s way. It sucks, like really really sucks to feel that way. But I’m making a choice, right now today, to change my way of thinking. If I don’t ask for help, I’m not going to last much longer. Burn out is coming closer every day in every aspect of my life and if I don’t ask for help now I won’t be able to ask for help later. This bleeds into every aspect of my life. I need to ask for help at work because I’m drowning. I need to ask for help from my kids because I need help at home to make my house function. I need to ask for help with my mental and emotional wellbeing because that is suffering. I’ve been told that I can put on a real good show. I hide being overwhelmed really well, it’s a coping mechanism because I don’t want to appear weak. So if you see me and I seem okay, please. please please please. Ask me how I’m really doing. Chances are I might just burst into tears but at least then I can start asking for help. This is going to be a hard road. I am going to write so much more about this as I struggle through it. I don’t want to ask for help but the reality is that I need to. I hope my friends reading this will stand by me through this. I hope my family will stand strong with me. I hope that when I am able to reach out and ask for help that there will be people there to walk with me. I worry about these things but I can’t avoid it any longer. I need help.
