Alejandro de Riquer was a versatile artist intellectual and Catalan designer, illustrator, painter, engraver, writer and poet and was one of the leading figures of Modernisme in Catalonia. Modernisme was a Spanish art movement that had its equivalent in France with art nouveau and Germany with jugendstil.
