18 Best Places to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo 2019 in Las Vegas
It’s that time of year again! Corona is currently airing these commercials, which can only mean one thing…
youtube
Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner!
So where are you going to be celebrating?
Somewhere fun? Somewhere relaxing? Somewhere loud and festive?
Maybe a combination of all three?
If that’s the case, Vegas is the place to be. Our Cinco de Mayo celebrations are….well, you know how it is.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
In this post, we’re going to tell you about the 18 best places to celebrate Cinco de Mayo 2019 in Las Vegas.
But before we get into all that, here’s a quick pop quiz: do you know why we celebrate Cinco de Mayo?
It’s Because We’re Celebrating Mexican Independence Day, Right?
Nope. Two totally different holidays.
Mexican Independence Day is celebrated on September 16. It commemorates Mexico’s revolt against Spain.
Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, celebrates the date that the Mexican army defeated Napoleon III’s French forces at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War.
And although Cinco de Mayo is a fairly minor holiday in Mexico, it’s a much bigger deal here in the United States, and it has become an occasion to celebrate Mexican heritage and culture.
Here’s What Happened on the FIRST Cinco de Mayo
The year was 1861. And Benito Juarez was president of Mexico.
Mexico was dealing with a lot of financial problems at the time and was forced to default on the debt it owed to various European nations.
And those European nations were none too happy about that.
In fact, France, Britain, and Spain were so mad they sent their naval forces to Mexico and basically said, “Pay us. Like…right now.”
Fortunately, Mexico was able to work out a deal with Britain and Spain, so the Brits and the Spaniards took their forces back home.
Unfortunately, France, ruled by Napoleon III at the time, took a different route.
Napoleon III was like, “You know what? Since I’m already down here, why don’t I just expand my empire into Mexico?”
So in 1861, the French fleet stormed Veracruz, forcing President Juarez and his government to retreat. The French then set out to attack the town of Puebla de Los Angeles in east-central Mexico.
Meanwhile, Juarez gathered together a force of 2,000 troops and sent them to Puebla to fortify and defend the town.
The Battle of Puebla took place on May 5, 1862, and it lasted from morning to early evening. Although the Mexican forces were outnumbered and had poor supplies, they still defeated the French troops.
It wasn’t a major strategic victory, but the Battle of Puebla was hugely symbolic and inspired the Mexican army to continue resisting the French.
Mexico finally forced the French to leave their country in 1867, thanks partly to help from the U.S., both in terms of military aid and political pressure on France.
So now that you know the origin story of this famous holiday, let’s move on to the celebration stuff.
Here are the 18 best places to celebrate Cinco de Mayo 2019 in Las Vegas!
Cinco de Mayo Las Vegas Food and Drink Specials
1. Blondies Sports Bar & Grill
You can get $5 Estrella Micheladas for the entire month of May at Blondies Sports Bar & Grill inside of the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.
2. El Dorado Cantina
$10 meals! $25 margarita flights! A live mariachi band!
All this and more can be found at El Dorado Cantina, an authentic Mexican restaurant and bar right off the Las Vegas Strip.
3. Fleming’s Steakhouse
Fleming’s Steakhouse is doing something pretty gutsy for Cinco de Mayo.
They’re partnering with Tequila Ocho and crystal manufacturer Baccarat to offer a $100 Prime Margarita.
Now, the most obvious question one might ask is, “Why on Earth would anyone pay $100 for a margarita?”
Here’s why:
It’s served in a Baccarat crystal glass which you get to keep. The glass usually costs well over $100 if you buy it from a store.
The margarita is made with Tequila Ocho — which costs about $189 per bottle — and Grand Marnier Cuvee du Centenaire, which costs around $160 a bottle.
If a premium quality margarita served in a premium quality glass — which you get to keep — is enough to convince you to shell out 100 big ones, you can take advantage of this special offer for the entire month of May.
4. Lake Las Vegas
Going to be out near Lake Las Vegas? Sonrisa Grill is having an all-day fiesta where you can enjoy Mexican cuisine and listen to live Latin music performed at the Village Gazebo – the site of the Lake Las Vegas Cinco de Mayo party.
5. La Salsa Cantina

6. PT’s Taverns Parties
In honor of Cinco de Mayo, PT’s Taverns – which has 64 locations throughout the valley and Nevada, will be hosting Cinco parties at all their locations on May 4 and May 5.

11. Camila and Sin Bandera
Camila and Sin Bandera are two powerhouse bands capable of drawing huge crowds all on their own. Now they’re combining their top-tier talent for a night to remember. On May 5, they’re coming to Zappos here in Las Vegas as part of their 4Latidos Tour.
12. DW Bistro
Cinco at DW Bistro! The restaurant will be partnering with Frank Marino to host Diva-licious Brunch.
What is the Diva-licious Brunch?
It’s two showings of Marino’s Celebrity Drag Queen performers: one show at 11:30 am and another at 1:30 pm.
It’s only $10 to see the show, and they’ll be serving their regular brunch menu at an additional cost. Note that the $10 entrance fee only gets you through the door; it doesn’t guarantee you a reserved table!
Las Vegas Cinco de Mayo Party Spots
13. Señor Frogs
Señor Frogs is like a spring break party 24/7.
With its raucous, anything-goes atmosphere, it’s a popular destination spot for people visiting Treasure Island. Even the staff gets in on the fun by pulling people on to the dance floor and encouraging beer-chugging contests.
They also offer just about every rum and tequila drink you can imagine: margaritas, daiquiris, and mojitos, which you can order in a souvenir palm-tree shaped cup.
14. Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at the Flamingo
It’s called Margaritaville. How can you not visit it on Cinco De Mayo? Plus, Jimmy Buffett songs and videos play on a continuous loop, so if you’re a fan of his music, you’ll basically be experiencing heaven on earth.
This three-level spot features an outdoor balcony overlooking the Strip. You can dance to live entertainment that’s going on both indoors and outdoors.
Finally, Margaritaville has several bars, including the central Volcano Bar, a three-story volcano that erupts over the bar, pouring margarita mix into two, giant 300-gallon blenders every hour.

Vegas’ Secret Sauce For Cannabis Success: Regulations
Nevada’s decades-long experience with gaming means the state was well-equipped to launch its cannabis industry.
During the first year of legal adult-use cannabis sales in Nevada, the state exceeded its expected sales tax revenues by roughly 140%, filling state coffers with a whopping $70 million. Meanwhile, states from Massachusetts to California have been disappointed by their take.
That doesn’t surprise Armen Yemenidjian, founder of Essence Cannabis Dispensary, one of Las Vegas’ largest marijuana dispensary and cultivation operations, which he sold last year to Green Thumb Industries. Yemenidjian joined Green Thumb’s executive team, where he’s still an active part of the cannabis industry. He believes that Nevada has seen so much success because of its long history with gambling — one of the most regulated industries in America.

How to Make the Perfect Cannabis Oatmeal Cookie for National Oatmeal Cookie Day
They’re sweet.
They’re chewy.
They’re chock full of raisins…or dried cranberries…or chocolate chips.
Or raisins AND dried cranberries AND chocolate chips.
Or whatever you want, really!
They’re oatmeal cookies, and they’re so awesome that they’ve even got their own holiday: April 30.
And in this post, we’re going to show you how to make the perfect oatmeal cookie for National Oatmeal Cookie Day!
A VERY Brief History of the Oatmeal Cookie
It’s the question on everybody’s mind: where, oh, where did the oatmeal cookie come from? What ingenious soul invented it?
The history of the oatmeal cookie is a long one, for its original creation dates back to prehistoric times.
Scientists recently discovered oatmeal cookie fossils carefully placed inside of Neanderthal burial sites — strong evidence that our earliest ancestors held the oatmeal cookie in high regard!
(Okay, fine, we totally made that up. But that’d be pretty hilarious and awesome if it was true!)
Jokes asides, the oatmeal cookie does have an ancestor: the traditional Scottish oatcake of the Middle Ages.
The Scottish oatcake had similar ingredients, but it was way more crispy than the modern oatmeal cookie.
But it’s hard to say for certain who actually invented the modern oatmeal cookie.
However, Fannie Merritt Farmer published the first recorded oatmeal cookie recipe in her 1896 cookbook entitled the Boston Cooking-School Cook Book.
The original recipe didn’t have raisins in it, but people started adding them largely because Quaker Oats had been featuring an oatmeal raisin cookie recipe on their containers since the 1900s.
An Even Briefer History of National Oatmeal Cookie Day
Honestly, nobody really knows who invented this holiday, but if you know who did, please let us know!
In the meantime, here’s a fun fact: there are actually two oatmeal cookie holidays.
There’s National Lacy Oatmeal Cookie Day, which is celebrated on March 18 (a lacy oatmeal cookie is a wafer-thin oatmeal cookie that’s traditionally served with ice cream or sorbet).
And then there’s regular National Oatmeal Cookie Day, celebrated on April 30.
Had enough history? Ready to get down to business?
Alright then! Let’s make some friggin’ cookies!
Oh, wait.
One more thing…
Another Brief Note About Wire Racks
Most of these recipes instruct you to cool your freshly baked cookies on a wire rack.
If you’re already an experienced baker and don’t need an explanation for why you should cool cookies on a wire rack instead of just on the countertop, you can skip this section.
But for all you apprentice bakers, here’s the deal:
When you take cookies out of the oven and leave them on a baking sheet, they’ll keep baking because the baking sheet will still be hot.
Your cookies will be overdone, and that will, of course, affect their taste and texture.
A wire rack allows air to circulate underneath the cookies, allowing them to cool off much more quickly.
But if you don’t have a cooling rack, you can take the cookies off the baking sheet and place them on a paper towel on your countertop.
They won’t cool as quickly as they would on a wire rack, but at least they won’t be overcooked.
Okay, NOW let’s make some cookies!
*sigh*
Sorry.
One last thing. We promise.
One Final Brief Note on Cannabutter Dosing
The following recipes call for the use of cannabutter.
Obviously, you can make these cookies without using any cannabutter at all.
But it is the cannabutter that will transform your ordinary cookies into cannabis cookies.
Medical cannabis patients can purchase Evergreen Organix cannabutter from Essence – just be sure to give us a call to confirm that we have cannabutter in stock!
Because Evergreen Organix cannabutter contains 1000 mg of THC — which is over the 100 mg limit for recreational customers — only our medical patients can purchase the butter.
All the cannabutter dosing suggestions are just that: suggestions. Take your tolerance level into account when deciding how much cannabutter to add.
Alright…NOW, for the love of Mary Jane, let’s make some friggin’ cookies!
Simple Cannabis Oatmeal Cookie
(adapted from Cannadish)
What You’ll Need
1/4 cup of cannabis butter
2 cups of packed dark brown sugar
2 sticks of softened butter
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
3 cups of oats
How to Make Them
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
Grab an electric mixer or a hand mixer and beat that brown sugar and butter until it’s nice and fluffy. Then beat in the vanilla. Then beat in one egg at a time.
Now mix all that flour, salt, and baking soda into a medium bowl. Add in your creamed mixture in 2 to 3 batches, mixing each batch until everything is combined.
Use a cookie scoop or regular ol’ spoon to scoop out portions of the dough onto a baking sheet. Leave a couple of inches between each cookie. Bake for 12-13 minutes until they’re dark and chewy. If you want a crispier cookie (oatcake style!), cook it longer.
Remove cookies from oven and let them cool on the baking sheet. Then transfer them on to a plate and serve ‘em up!
Frosted Oatmeal Raisin Cannabis Cookies
(adapted from Taste From Home)
What’ll You Need
1/4 cup of cannabutter
2 sticks of butter, softened
2 cups of packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 cups of all-purpose flour
2 cups of instant oats
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of ground allspice
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
1 cup of raisins
1 cup of chopped pecans (optional)
FROSTING
5 cups of powdered sugar
1/4 cup of butter, melted (or you can use another 1/4 cup of cannabutter here to increase the dose…OR you can leave the cannabutter OUT of the main mix and just put it in the frosting)
1/3 to 1/2 cup of 2% milk
How to Make Them
Beat butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time.
In another bowl, mix the remaining ingredients (minus the frosting ingredients), and gradually beat all of that into the creamed mixture. Add in raisins and the pecans if you got ‘em
Split the dough in half. Shape each half into a disk, cover it, and refrigerate it for about 1 hour, or until it is firm enough to roll.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion of the dough so that it’s 1/4-inch thick. Cut with a floured 2-3/4 in. round cookie cutter.
Place each cookie 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Place them in the oven and let them bake until they turn light brown. This should take 7-9 minutes.
Remove the sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool for 2 minutes. Then place the cookies on a wire rack to finish cooling.
For frosting, beat the powdered sugar, butter, and milk together until it reaches the consistency of frosting. Spread on cookies and enjoy.
Chocolate Oatmeal Cannabis Cookies
(adapted from All Recipes)
What You’ll Need
2 tablespoons of cannabutter
1 cup of all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1 stick of butter
1 cup of brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 1/4 cup of rolled oats
1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
How to Make Them
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
Mix flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon together.
In a separate bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar together. Beat in one egg at a time along with the vanilla.
Now add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Mix in the oats and chocolate chips.
Use a tablespoon of dough to measure out each cookie onto a greased cookie sheet, leaving 2 inches between them.
Let them bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the oven, or until they are light brown. Take the cookies out of the oven and let them cool on the sheet for five minutes before placing them on a wire rack to finish cooling.
“No Bake” Crunchy Peanut Butter-Chocolate Oatmeal Cannabis Cookies
That is a mouthful – literally and figuratively!
(Adapted from All Recipes)
“No bake oatmeal cookies, you say? How is that even possible? What manner of sorcery is this???”
No sorcery. Nothing but just some good ol’ fashioned stovetop cooking.
What You’ll Need
1/4 cup of cannabutter
1 3/4 cups of brown sugar
1/2 cup of milk
1 stick of butter
4 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup of crunchy peanut butter
3 cups of instant oats
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
How to Make Them
Combine sugar, milk, butter, and cocoa in a medium saucepan
Bring it to a boil and let it cook for 1 1/2 minutes.
Turn off the heat and stir in peanut butter, oats, and vanilla.
Use a teaspoon to measure out the cookies onto wax paper
Let the cookies cool until they’re firm
Oatmeal Cranberry White Chocolate Chunk Cannabis Cookies
(Adapted from All Recipes)
What You’ll Need
2 tablespoons of cannabutter
1 stick of softened butter
2/3 cup of packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups of rolled oats
1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 1/4 cups of dried cranberries
2/3 cups of coarsely chopped white chocolate
How to Make Them
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
Cream the butter and brown sugar in a bowl until fluffy
Beat in the eggs one at a time
Mix oats, flour, salt, and baking soda in a separate bowl
Stir the dry mixture into the creamed mixture one cup at a time
Add dried cranberries and chocolate and stir
Measure out teaspoons of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet; leave 2 inches of space between each cookie
Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown; place the cookies on a wire rack for cooling
Hopefully, the cookies you create from these recipes will last you well beyond National Oatmeal Cookie Day.
If you’re not sure how powerful the cookies will be, take just a small bite and wait several hours for the effects to take place.
When you store them, be sure to label them “cannabis cookies” if you live with other people. That way, no one accidentally eats them without knowing what they’re getting into!
Have fun and enjoy your cookies! And if you need cannabutter or any other cannabis-related products, contact us at any of our three locations — Las Vegas Strip, Tropicana West, Henderson — and one of our dispensary consultants will help you out.
Happy National Oatmeal Cookie Day!

Tired of smoking the same ol’ strains and eating the same ol’ edibles?

If the products you’ve been using regularly just don’t do it for you anymore…
Or they work just fine, but you want to try something new…
You need a quick and easy way to find out what’s new in the world of cannabis and — more importantly — what’s good.
Following our blog is a good start. Points for you!
Because here’s what we’re doing:
Each month, we’ll be giving you a run-down on the best Las Vegas cannabis products of the month.
No more wondering. No more guesswork.
We’ll tell you about the products that are worth your time so you don’t have to waste any more time trying to figure out what’s new and what’s hot.
So let’s get to it.
Here are the 7 best Las Vegas cannabis products for April 2019!
Let’s Start With Experience Premium Cannabis (EPC) Tinctures
“Experience Premium Cannabis” isn’t just the lifelong goal of every cannabis user.
It’s also the name of a brand: EPC for short.
EPC creates high-grade solventless cannabis products. Zero chemicals, zero solvents, and only the best bud.
They extract cannabinoid and terpene concentrates from their flower by using techniques such as ice, water, heat, and pressure.
Some of their extract, rosin, and hash manufacturing techniques are based on methods used in ancient Lebanon, Morocco, and Nepal.
What does that mean for you, the user?
It means you’re getting the highest-quality cannabis product that’s possible – an experience like none other.
But EPC isn’t just committed to creating cannabis products that are healthy for you.
They’re also committed to creating products that are healthy for the planet. All their packaging is made with either biodegradable or recycled material.
So What Kind of Tinctures Do They Have?
Here are the three tinctures we’ll be focusing on this month:
Breath Easy Tincture
I. Support Tincture
Good Night Tincture
1. Breath Easy Tincture (20:1 CBD-THC Ratio)
Springtime = more time outdoors + allergy season = your nose running faster than Usain Bolt. Not to mention itchy eyes, sinus pressure, bad cough, and an overall feeling of miserableness.
Sure, there’s the standard allergy drugs. But they aren’t much help if you want to go the more natural route.
So while you’re dusting off your neti pot and warming up some tea, make some room for the Breath Easy Tincture in your allergy regimen.
With a 20:1 CBD-THC ratio, this tincture, also loaded with sinus-opening essential oils, can help reduce the inflammation you’re struggling with and clear the way for more oxygen to start flowing into your brain.
More oxygen = a happy brain = a happy you.
Here are some of the ingredients in the Breath Easy Tincture.
400 mg of CBD
20 mg of THC
Lime oil
Peppermint oil
Black pepper oil
Cardamom oil
Limonene (terpene)
Pinene (terpene)
Eucalyptol (terpene)
2. G.I. Support Tincture (8:1 CBD-THC Ratio)
Stomach problems are the worse. Maybe it was something you ate…or something you thought.
Yes, even stress and anxiety can cause the digestive system to act out of sorts.
And while you may be swallowing handfuls of anti-acid and acid-reducing drugs, what are you going to do if stress and anxiety are at the root of your problems?
You might need more sleep.
A bit of meditation and yoga.
Calming music.
And the G.I. Support Tincture.
The G.I. Support Tincture is specifically designed to target stomach issues, relieving inflammation and promoting relaxation in your gut and your mind too.
Check out some of these ingredients:
240 mg of CBD
30 mg of THC
Peppermint oil
Ginger oil
Fennel oil
Pinene (terpene)
Limonene (terpene)
Camphene (terpene)
3. Good Night Tincture (200 mg of Cannabinoids)
A good night’s sleep is vital to your overall health.
Not sleeping well is…not good.
But with EPC’s Good Night Tincture…a bad night’s sleep will become a thing of the past.
Careful now! You may not actually need a full dose (0.5mL) for the Good Night Tincture to work its magic. It’s pretty strong stuff.
For the first night, try just a quarter of the regular dose and see what the effects are. Wait about 60-90 minutes, and if you find later that you need to up the dosage, go for it.
Ingredients include:
Estimated 1:1:1 ratio of THC, CBD, and CBN, a total of 200 mg of cannabinoids
Orange oil
Clary sage oil
Lavender oil
Vetiver oil
Limonene (terpene)
Linalool (terpene)
trans-Ocimene (terpene)
Next Up: Wyld Gummies
Wyld is an Oregon-based edible company that’s brought its Pacific Northwest charm down to the sunny Southwest.
(And if they keep making edible products that are as good as these gummies, they can stay for as long as they want.)
Wyld states on its website that they infuse their products with “real fruit ingredients & flavors that embody the true Pacific Northwest culture.”
They’re not lying. Every had a huckleberry-flavored gummy before? Or even an actual huckleberry, for that matter?
Thanks to Wyld, now you can.
The Visual Presentation Alone is Impressive
For cannabis connoisseurs, visuals are important. They help set the overall tone for the cannabis experience.
Wyld understands that, and you can tell just from the packaging.
The product comes in an origami-style package that makes you feel like you’re opening a puzzle box – an element that helps add to the excitement and anticipation for what’s inside.
Inside is the actual, childproof container. Once you’ve opened the container, you’ll find yourself looking at a truly Wyld paradise.
These are beautifully-crafted, rectangular gummies that have the classic “THC-exclamation-mark-warning” triangle neatly imprinted on them – a final heads up to the user that these are no ordinary gummies.
You’ll also note the big, bright, beautiful white crystals –and sometimes even flakes — of sugar sprinkled on the gummies.
The Wyld gummy is extremely soft to the touch, and they taste even softer.
And that sweet, fruit flavor bursting through your taste buds might actually trick your mouth into thinking that you’re eating real fruit.
No, that’s not an exaggeration. Yes, these gummies are that good.
Each gummy contains 10 mg of THC and can be easily divided into smaller doses.
Now let’s move on to the specific flavors and effects.
4. Raspberry Gummies – Sativa Enhanced
As you would expect, the sativa-enhanced Raspberry Gummies are perfect for daytime use. Pop one first thing in the morning or in the early afternoon to get a seismic blast of energy.
Whether it’s hiking, sports, or just a long hard day of work ahead of you, there’s nothing you won’t feel like doing…except sitting still and doing nothing!
5. Huckleberry Gummies – Hybrid Enhanced
It’s too early to go to bed, but you’ve had a long day and you really need some deep-seated, intense relaxation.
You want to feel good.
So toss one of these Huckleberry Gummies into your mouth for some even-balanced mind-body euphoria. Zone out on the couch. Read a book. Spend some quality time with your friends. Just have fun!
6. Marionberry Gummies – Indica Enhanced
This one’s for insomniacs and chronic pain sufferers…
Are you finally ready for your “lights-out-fast-asleep” moment?” We hope so. Because these Marionberry Gummies have been blessed by the Sandman himself.
Once you try it, you’ll want to get real comfortable…and quickly too! You don’t want to be doing any complex tasks or complex thinking once this gummy strikes.
Just figure out what position you want to be in for the next several hours. After the indica effect kicks in, you won’t be going anywhere except into a deep, heavy, restful sleep.
7. Last But Not Least…the Flex-All Lavender Topical
Speaking of insomnia and chronic pain…
How much body pain do you struggle with on a daily basis?
Is it painful getting out of bed in the morning? Do you have trouble concentrating on your tasks during the day? Can you hardly sleep at night?
This pretty much describes the daily lives of people suffering from:
Arthritis
Fibromyalgia
Muscle spasms
Scoliosis
Back, neck, and foot pain,
Post-surgery pain
Other chronic pain conditions
But this also describes the experience of professional athletes, fitness buffs, and people just trying to get into better shape.
Whatever the cause, pain should never be “chronic.” It should never be a way of life.
And hopefully, your doctor can identify the cause of your illness and provide you with an effective treatment option.
But while prescription pain pills and steroids might alleviate the pain, the side effects of some of these drugs — especially opioids — can be as bad if not worse than the initial condition.
Smoking, vaping, and eating cannabis can provide general chronic pain relief. But sometimes you want something that’s more specifically targeted for the pain that you’re feeling.
You don’t need it to affect all parts of your body. You just want your knee/back/feet to stop hurting.
Topicals are the perfect solution for targeted pain relief.
And Flex-All 420 ranks among the best pain-relief topical brands around.
The Flex-All Lavender Balm contains a 2:1 CBD-THC ratio along with high concentrations of the terpene linalool, all of which are designed to deliver fast-acting pain relief to aching muscles and joints.
The balm is super creamy, non-greasy, and gives off a light aroma so you can use it discreetly if necessary.
Users have reported that it’s given them relief from all types of chronic pain conditions.
So if you’re ready for relief now, try the Flex-All Lavendar Balm now!
That wraps up our list of the 7 best Las Vegas cannabis products for April 2019!

So let’s treat her right!
April 22 is Earth Day
It’s the day that we’re meant to honor our planet and reflect on the many different ways we can protect our environment.
We’ve come up with the 15 best ways to honor Earth Day 2019 here in Las Vegas.
Some of these you can do no matter what day it is. Others are Earth Day-specific.
Let’s get started!
1. Don’t Use Your Car
Just for one day.
“But what about work?”
“What about that really important thing I was supposed to go to?”
“What about this, and this and that?”
We get it.
For some of you, the idea of not using your car for one day seems like cruel and unusual punishment.
But it’s just one day.
Here’s some perspective:
The city of Paris held a car-free day back in 2015. People still got around using bicycles, skateboards, and their own two feet.
The result? The group AirParif noted that the city reduced its smog level by nearly 50%!
It might be a while before Vegas does something like that.
A long, LONG while.
But you can still do your small part by not using your car for one day.
Instead, you can
Use a rideshare service
Ride a bike
Use public transportation
Walk
Just try it. As an experiment. See what happens.
Who knows? You might even enjoy it!
2. Don’t Eat Meat
Again: just for one day!
Why? Because scientists are arguing that a vegetarian/vegan diet may be healthier for the planet.
So if you really want to show Mother Earth some love, put the sausages and double-bacon cheeseburgers on pause for one day.
Experiment with life as a vegetarian; see how it treats ya!
If you need inspiration or tips, check out Meatless Mondays.
3. Reduce Your Tap Water Usage
Water conservation is a big deal in Las Vegas for obvious reasons.
But there are little things you can do each day to help conserve one of our most precious natural resources.
If you have sprinklers, run them between midnight and sunrise to help reduce water evaporation. This should be done during the months of May through October.
You can find other sprinkler tips here.
Also, be mindful of your water usage inside your home.
For example, don’t leave the faucet running unless you’re using the water.
If you wet your hands so that you can get them nice and soapy, be sure to turn the water off while you’re applying the soap. Then turn the water back on when you’re ready to rinse.
Yes, it’s an extra step, but that extra step can prevent a lot of waste over time!
4. Go For a Hike at Red Rock Canyon
Okay, we’ve listed enough things to cut back on.
Now let’s focus on the things you can enjoy.
(Earth is meant to be enjoyed, after all!)
Red Rock Canyon has got mountains, trees, wildlife, and 26 nature trails that you can explore until your heart’s content.
For you truly adventurous types, you can also go rock climbing and paragliding.
5. Visit the Springs Preserve
The Springs Preserve has an award-winning botanical garden that contains thousands of Mojave Desert and desert-adapted plants.
You can also walk, bike, or take a train ride down a series of trails in order to check out native habitats and archaeological sites.
The Springs Preserve is also the home of the Nevada State Museum.
Which is ALSO the home of the Nevada state fossil (yes, there is such a thing!): the Ichthyosaur Shonisaurus popularis.
Few things are more sobering than looking at the fossil of an extinct species.
Who knows? That could be us one day!
All the more reason to take care of our planet, right?
Not just for our sake, but for future generations.
6. Volunteer at Vegas Roots Community Garden
Vegas Roots is a non-profit organization and community garden operating on four acres of property in downtown Las Vegas.
First started in 2010, it still remains Vegas’s first and only urban farm.
And they could use some volunteers.
Come down to the garden for a walkthrough visit, and then check out the times that you can volunteer.
You can also sign up for their Adopt a Plot program, where you get an assigned plot and can grow your own vegetables.
Don’t have a green thumb? Not to worry. You can also buy vegetables directly from the garden.
7. Recycle Your Essence Bags
You know the custom-made Essence shopping bags that you get from us when you purchase a product?
You can re-use them! Just bring one with you next time you come in for your visit, and we’ll use that instead.
If you’re a frequent customer and have a bunch of bags saved up at home, give some away to your friends. That way, you’ll be sharing the wealth and helping us reduce waste. Teamwork!
8. Try a GLP Product
Have you heard of Green Life Productions?
They’re one of our cultivators, and they’ve made a name for themselves by growing 100% organic cannabis flower.
On top of that, they have a recycling program. Bring seven empty GLP containers to our dispensary, and you’ll get a free GLP pre-roll, shirt, or hat!
9. Plant a Bee Garden
There’s no easy way to say it: our bees are disappearing – a phenomenon called colony collapse disorder.
This is a huge problem for the planet.
And not just because bees are cool to look at and we’ll miss having them around. Nor because it’ll suck not having honey as an alternative to sugar.
Bees are pollinators. They help to transfer pollen from one flower to another. This simple act fertilizes plants so that they can reproduce by growing fruits and seeds.
Which means food for us.
Pollinators are responsible for 30% of the world’s crops and 90% of our wild plants.
Examples of crops that are dependent on bees include apples, peaches, apricots, cherries, grapes, tomatoes, almonds, mustard, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, cabbage…the list is long.
According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, four main reasons for the loss of bees are climate change, pesticide use on farms, habitat loss, and parasites.
Now for the good news: there is something you can do to help alleviate the habitat loss problem.
Plant a bee garden.
No, that doesn’t mean you grow your own bees.
It means creating a garden that’s bee-friendly.
For example, if you have a lawn, you can replace part or all of it with flowering plants. This will provide food and habitat for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
10. Plan a Camping Trip
When you live in a city, it’s easy to forget how much we depend on the earth for our basic survival needs: oxygen, water, food, shelter, not to mention beautiful scenery to look at.
Camping helps us to get back in touch with our earliest roots as human beings. It reminds us that everything we’ve built rests on the bedrock of nature.
Remembering this fact also helps us remember to take better care of nature.
So whether you go to Red Rock, Mt. Charleston, Lake Tahoe or even your own backyard, it doesn’t matter.
Just try to get out of your normal setting and spend a night in nature.
11. Watch Our Planet On Netflix
If you don’t have the time, resources, or inclination to go camping, there’s always the next best thing: watch nature documentaries!
There’s a new nature docu-series available to watch on Netflix called Our Planet. It was made by the creator of Planet Earth and Blue Planet.
Our Planet features amazing footage of some of Earth’s most beautiful environments and wildlife. It also discusses how climate change is affecting life on our planet.
Here’s the trailer:

12. Earth Day at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum
From 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on April 22, the Las Vegas Natural History Museum will be hosting a bunch of activities to celebrate Earth Day, including science exhibits run by Jenny Baliff, the “Science Mom.” Bring your kids!
13. 2019 Earth Day 5K & 10K Virtual Run Las Vegas
Virtual runs are pretty popular right now, and on Earth Day, you can participate in one yourself.
The cost is $20, and at least 15% of the entry fee will be donated to Wild Earth Allies, an organization devoted to protecting wildlife and habitats.
Where is this race held? Anywhere you want. That’s what makes it a virtual race!
You can run or walk in a park, the streets, your local track field, or even the treadmill at your gym. Literally anywhere!
You do the race on your own, record your time, and then submit it to the race organizers to get your Earth Day medal!
14. UNLV Earth Day Fair
If you’re going to be on or near the UNLV campus, be sure to swing by the Earth Day Fair.
Starting at 10:00 am on April 22, the UNLV Student Sustainability Council will be hosting a series of events such as yoga on the lawn, a drum circle, an art gallery viewing, and free food!
The fair is free and open to the public.
15. Use Cannabis to Help You Become More Earth Conscious
Cannabis is many things to many people.
But most of us can agree that cannabis has a way of stimulating the mind and forcing us to think outside of the box.
And under the right circumstances, cannabis can help us come to new insights about ourselves and even help us foster new changes and habits in our lives.
So smoke a bowl or eat an edible, find a spot out in nature, and just sit and observe. Take in the sights, sounds, and smells. Try to remember that nature isn’t something that’s separate from you.
We all come from the Earth. We’re part of it, and it’s a part of us. The better we know and understand the earth, the better we know and understand ourselves.
And if you need to stock up on cannabis…
Essence is Still Offering Special Deals Every Single Day For the Remainder of April!
Come visit us at any of our three locations – Las Vegas Strip, Tropicana West, Henderson – and take advantage of our specials!
Happy Earth Day!

CBD Oil for Dogs: Best Practices
Dogs provide the family with a hiking partner, a shoulder to cry on, and a best friend. They show us unconditional love and support and deserve the same in return. That’s why millions of pet owners are turning to CBD oil for dogs. CBD for dogs gives your four-legged loves a load of hemp-based benefits that may help with anything from anxiousness to dealing with achy joints.
For animals, it’s not the quantity of years; it’s the quality. Their short time here should be as pleasurable as possible. With CBD treats for dogs and CBD pet tinctures, you can help your dog maintain or recapture that youthful spirit. Here is why CBD oil for dogs may be the right choice of therapy for your pet.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the primary active compounds found in the hemp plant. CBD is one in a group of 113 chemical compounds that are nearly exclusive to the hemp plant. These molecules are known as cannabinoids.
Research indicates that cannabinoids in hemp interact with a series of receptors throughout the body that influences everything from motion sickness to appetite to anxiety. This complex communication network is known as the endocannabinoid system.
Studies on CBD are still in its genesis. However, early analyses indicate the relationship between CBD and endocannabinoid system makes CBD oil for dogs a beneficial supplement.
How is CBD Oil for Dogs Made?
If you look closely on the exterior of a hemp leaf (or lavender, chamomile, etc.), you will notice tiny hairs. These are known as trichomes.
To get CBD oil for dogs, you must apply external pressure on the trichomes. This action will cause these hairs to burst open, releasing its essence into the atmosphere.
High-quality CBD for dogs is extracted using one of two methods:
Food-Grade Solvent (Ethanol)
Pressurized Carbon Dioxide
As the cannabinoids enter the atmosphere, they bond to carbon molecules either in the solvent or pressurized carbon dioxide. From there, they are separated from these non-toxic elements and are used to formulate CBD oil for dogs.
Why Buy CBD Oil for Dogs?
CBD products have become so popular among the mainstream. With millions of humans finding relief for anxiety, appetite, and pain perception, why shouldn’t animals have the same respect? After all, many animals are given supplements like fish oil for heart health like their human counterparts!
The reason why hemp oil products for dogs is such a viable option for dealing with separation anxiety, aggressive behavior to strangers, or lack of appetite is due to the endocannabinoid system. While research on the endocannabinoid system on dogs is limited, we do know a bit more about it in humans and the effects are similar.
Based on the fact that many human supplements can be altered to meet the correct dosage for dogs, CBD servings can be tailored to pets as well. To figure out this serving size, you first need to understand how CBD oil for dogs interacts with your pet’s system.
Dogs and the Endocannabinoid System
We mentioned earlier that our pets’ bodies have a series of receptors. These are known as cannabinoid receptors, and they trigger the symptoms your dog experiences.
There are two cannabinoid receptors, appropriately called, CB1 and CB2. Between the two of them, CB1 and CB2 receptors have almost all the surface area of the body covered. These cannabinoid receptors also bring their own unique benefits, which is crucial in promoting balance throughout the system.
If your dog barks relentlessly every time you leave, there’s a receptor in the endocannabinoid system sparking this reaction. The same can be said for when this ill-behaved pup decides to tinkle on the floor. A receptor is also causing tingling pain in the elder pup’s joints. These cries for attention from within are all apart of the intricate endocannabinoid system.
When you administer CBD for dogs to your pet, the cannabinoids in the formula enter the bloodstream. From there, they will receive the distress signal being parlayed by the receptors. In turn, CBD will react one of two ways.
CBD will either stimulate and sedate the upset receptor, or bind onto the compound that causing the receptor distress. Either way, the endocannabinoid system is essential for the symptoms your dog is experiencing and preventing them.
CBD for Dogs: Anxiety
If there were any doubt that your dog missed you while you were out, then take a look at the destroyed pillow. While your puppers may have missed you, your now angry with them and have a mess to clean up when they act this way. Separation anxiety is a real problem among dogs. They get very attached to their owner. Every second you’re gone seems like an eternity to them.
Whether it’s a loud thunderstorm, past owner abuse, or a trip to the vet, dogs can be very anxious. Anytime they experience anxiety; their adrenal glands produce a hormone known as cortisol.
If you work five days per week and come home to a trashed house each time, that means your dog is producing a lot of cortisol. Chronic stress not only destroys your house, but it can destroy your dog’s health.
Research on CBD indicates this cannabinoid can naturally balance cortisol levels. In turn, it also helps in the production of calming neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin. As a result, your dog should have less stress, and you should have less mess.
CBD for Dogs: Appetite and Nausea
What’s so great about CBD for dogs is its ability to promote balance throughout the body. Therefore, if your young pup tends to overeat, one of the CBD benefits for dogs is to satiate that hunger. However, if your dog needs some extra encouragement getting chow down, CBD oil for dogs can help with this problem as well.
CBD to Suppress Appetite
Research indicates that hunger is brought on by the CB1 receptor. If the CB1 receptor becomes overstimulated, your dog can end up binging their kibble. However, CBD acts as a CB1 antagonist, bringing the opposite effect to the body. That makes CBD oil for dogs a great way to control your pet’s appetite.
CBD for Appetite
While CBD benefits for dogs does include suppressing appetite, it may still assist your dog in eating. A big part of the reason elderly or sick dogs don’t eat is that treatment or illness is making them nauseous. Just like humans don’t like to eat when they don’t feel well, neither do our four-legged friends.
Research on CBD finds that its interaction with both CB1 and CB2 may help your dog not feel nauseous or vomit. Dogs are instinctual. They want to eat. Therefore, if they don’t feel sick while eating, they will continue to munch. In turn, your dog will get more nutrition into their system, and hopefully, strength to get through their day.
CBD Oil for Dogs: Seizures
What first brought medical cannabis to the forefront was the way CBD has been used to help those with epilepsy. Research on CBD shows that cannabinoids help neutralize receptors that are causing impulses related to epilepsy.
Last year, the first CBD medication for humans with epilepsy became regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). While there hasn’t been any research on epilepsy and dogs, the promising results in humans have made therapy for epilepsy one of the top CBD uses for dogs.
CBD Oil for Dogs: Pain
There is nothing worse than seeing your best friend, once full of life, now groaning by your feet. Getting old is inevitable, and pain seems to come with the territory. Therefore, we should try our best to make these years the most comfortable for our loved ones.
Pain is a perception. It’s something your dog experiences because their mind is drawing its attention to a symptom. Typically, pain is triggered by an inflammation setting off a cannabinoid receptor.
Through the endocannabinoid system, the receptor relays the message of an intruder to the brain. Depending on the intruder, your dog’s mind manifests the symptoms your dog experiences. Pain such as a sprained ankle after a hike in the woods will subside with time. However, chronic pain like arthritis will persist.
Two CBD Benefits for Dogs with Pain
There are two ways to stop the pain your dog is experiencing:
Cure the Inflammation
Stop the Receptor’s Message
Depending on the severity of your pet’s pain, these two might be the best benefits of CBD for dogs.
Research on CBD shows that cannabinoids have anti-inflammatory properties. They also exhibit antioxidant-like abilities. Therefore, cannabinoids may help reduce the inflammation within the system while simultaneously helping to clear out the debris causing the inflamed cells.
Secondly, CBD soothes the receptor triggering the dog’s brain to experience these symptoms. Research indicates that cannabinoids calm the receptors, which changes the message being relayed to the endocannabinoid system. In turn, your dog no longer fixates on the problems their body is trying to solve.
If the condition is chronic, the anti-inflammatory qualities of CBD might not be enough. However, CBD is an all-natural way to bring your dog temporary relief.
Can CBD Oil for Dogs Get My Pet High?
While there are no known cannabis overdoses for humans, the same can’t be said about dogs. Just like dogs have a heightened sense of smell and sight, their endocannabinoid system is more sensitive. Notably, they are far more susceptible to the psychoactive effects of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
In hemp derived CBD oil for dogs, there can be very low levels of THC. This is because the hemp plant contains 0.3% THC or less in its genetic makeup.
Therefore, there isn’t enough THC to cause the psychoactive effect side effects in CBD for dogs.
If you are a medical marijuana patient or in a state where recreational marijuana is legal, please look at the label before administering CBD oil for dogs. Some CBD oil formulas are made from marijuana plants and those may contain more THC and be unsafe to give to your dog.
Why Made By Hemp is the Best CBD Oil for Dogs
The idea of overdosing your dog is a scary concept. At Made by Hemp, we don’t take those concerns lightly. After all, we make these products for our dogs too!
Our products are formulated using the entire hemp plant–hemp seeds, stems, leaves, and all because research indicates cannabinoids work the best in synergy together. This practice, called full-spectrum, enriches the formula with all 100 plus known phytocannabinoids. Utilizing a full spectrum formula for the best CBD oil for dogs creates a higher quality supplement that is more likely to work due to the whole plant synergy.
Many CBD companies use what is called CBD isolate for their pet supplements. This is fine, as it still provides the benefits of CBD, however, it is missing all of the plant parts and other nutrients found in all natural hemp oil.
To ensure our best CBD products for dogs truly are the best, we test and test again. All products listed on our site are tested before being sent to us and are delivered with a COA (certificate of analysis). We also test them independently to ensure everything received in is truly what the manufacturer says it is. All COAs can be found and viewed on our product pages.
Side Effects of CBD for Dogs
No matter what, always consult a veterinarian before bringing a new supplement into your pet’s routine. It is important they are aware of any changes you make. Please heed to any advice they give you and seek a second opinion if you passionately disagree.
Since our products are derived from hemp, there are no known harmful side effects to CBD for dogs. If you administer too much CBD to your pet, you might notice they become a bit lethargic. In that instance, stop administering and watch your dog’s behavior. If their sluggish behavior doesn’t improve, then consult their veterinarian immediately.
When your dog regains their energy, you now know what dose exceeds their CBD threshold. Cut the serving down in the future and pay attention to their behavior.
CBD Oil Dosage for Dogs
CBD dosage for dogs is as unique as your loved one’s personality. It all depends on

Where Does 420 Come From?
This weekend, thousands of people around the world will celebrate April 20th, or 4/20. To some, this is just a number. However, for everyone else, we all know that it means smoking marijuana. Even with the thousands of people celebrating the holiday in their own way, a very small amount of them actually knows where the holiday originated, and how the number 420 became synonymous with the “weed culture.” The question of how did 420 start or where does 420 come from is associated with a handful of popular myths. Instead of knowing the facts, most resort to believing one of three popular myths. Let’s dive into them and get the facts.
youtube
Myth 1 – Celebrities
The first myth about 4/20 is that a big name in the marijuana world made it up. We’ve heard names like Willie Nelson, Wiz Khalifa, Cheech and Chong, and even Snoop Dogg. While the popularity of these icons could have let them have this sort of influence, there is actually no real connection between these celebrities and the holiday. It just seems like they all really enjoy it.
Myth 2 – California Penal Code
Many believe that the 420 refers to a California penal code, used for those incarcerated for marijuana-related crimes, like a foiled deal or even a drug bust. While we spent a great deal of time researching the California penal code, we could not find a connection between the two at all.
Myth 3 – Police Code
This brings us to the most-believed myth: the police code. The vast majority of those who celebrate 4/20 believe it refers to the reference number police use to classify a marijuana-related crime in progress. Once again, just like for the penal code, we could not find any connection between these two.
Where Does 420 Come From?
So where does 4/20 come from? It comes from a high school in San Rafael California.
In the 1970s, a group of high schoolers, who called themselves “the Waldos,” would tell each other “420 Louis” to one another in the halls. They heard there was a marijuana plant which had been planted in a wooded area nearby. Their plan was to meet at a statue (Louis Pasteur) outside their school, smoke marijuana, and then go look for this alleged plant hidden in the woods.
They never found the plant, so it turned into a meeting at 4:20 pm and they would go smoke marijuana from there, thus a tradition was born.
4/20 and CBD
You might be asking yourself why a CBD company would even want to celebrate a holiday like 4/20, especially with our focus being on CBD and not on THC. However, 2019 is the first year that hemp is federally de-scheduled legal in the United States, thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill. With our focus being on educating people on all things cannabis, we look at 4/20 as a great way to tell the history of the holiday. While we won’t be celebrating the holiday like many people will be, we will be showcasing a side of cannabis that doesn’t result in a “high” effect.

7 Best Cannabis Strains and Edibles for Focus and Work
“Quit procrastinating and get to work!”
That’s what the voice in your head keeps saying.
You’ve tried coffee, tea, and energy drinks. Sure, they give you an initial boost, but they also leave you feeling spazzed out and jittery.
And let’s not forget the eventual crash.
You don’t have time to crash. There’s work to be done.
Maybe cannabis can help you out.
Now…people don’t commonly think of cannabis as a stimulant in the same vein as coffee.
And yes, there are a lot strains out there that make you just want to sit on the couch and binge-watch Rick and Morty.
But if you’re looking to seize the day and maximize your productivity?
Well… there’s a strain for that.
A lot of strains, in fact!
An Important Note about Using Cannabis for Work and Focus
The best strains to use for work and focus are sativas and hybrids.
Check out the terpene profile of the strain you’re thinking about experimenting with. Keep an eye out in particular for terpenes like limonene and pinene.
Also, don’t consume too much.
How much is “too much?” It depends on your tolerance level.
We all respond differently to cannabis. For some people, 10 mg of THC is a reasonable dose to energize them and help them focus.
For others, 10 mg makes them feel like they’re traveling to another galaxy at lightspeed.
You don’t want to consume too much cannabis during your work hours and then find yourself unable to do any work. That would kinda defeat the whole purpose, ya know?
So start with the lowest dose possible. Wait 30 minutes to an hour to gauge the effects (you’ll need to wait several hours if you’ve taken an edible). If you feel you can handle more, increase the dosage slightly.
With edibles, you can start with 2.5 mg of THC and move your way up to 5 mg, 7.5 mg, etc.
Okay, enough introduction material. Let’s get to work!
Here are the seven – count ‘em! – seven best cannabis strains and edibles for focus and work!
1. The Homie’s Choice
Hybrid
Terpene profile: Pinene, Myrcene, Ocimene
Do you have trouble “getting out of your head?” Do you think too much? Do your thoughts cause you a lot of anxiety and make it difficult to focus?
The Homie’s Choice offers a beautiful, even blend of head and body effects so that you can remain calm and tranquil yet alert. Not super-powerful or too overwhelming at all. Just a clear mind that allows you to focus with relative ease.
2. Jack Herer
Sativa
Terpene profile: Terpinolene, Ocimene, beta-Caryophyllene
Jack Herer is a classic, award-winning sativa strain that, without question, deserves a spot on this list.
We’ve written about this strain in detail before, but it’s worth repeating: the energizing power of Jack Herer makes you feel like royalty — like a king or queen that’s pumped up, ready to build a kingdom from the ground up.
If you’ve got some heavy lifting to do in life, you could do a lot worse and not much better than Jack Herer.
3. Jack Flash
Sativa
Terpene profile: Ocimene
Fans of Jack Herer may perk up when seeing this name. And for good reason.
Jack Flash is a sativa strain, a child of Jack Herer, Super Skunk, and Haze.
Feeling down? Out of sorts? Struggling with depression? Here’s a citrusy-flavored cerebral boost that makes you feel like you’ve got a new lease on life.
With Jack Flash, you may feel ready to get back to work faster than you can say “Jack Flash!”
4. Tahoe Alien
Sativa
Terpene profile: Limonene, beta-Caryophyllene, beta-Myrcene
What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?
Ha! Trick question!
With Tahoe Alien, there is no such thing as an immovable object.
Goodbye, writer’s block. Goodbye, problem-that-everyone-says-can’t-be-solved. Time to put on your out-of-the-box thinking cap while Tahoe Alien fills your brain with ecstasy and insights.
It starts off with a powerful cerebral euphoria that calms down a bit later, settling into your body. Now you’re feeling chill, your mind is equipped with new ideas, and you can finally get back to work on that project that once seemed impossible.
You’re not sure what planet or dimension Tahoe Alien is from, but you’re pretty sure it’s the most productive place in the universe.
5. Bruce Banner 2.0
Sativa
Terpene Profile: beta-Myrcene, alpha-Pinene, Limonene
Too much self-doubt can be crippling. It leads to anxiety, procrastination, and zero work done.
Are you doubting yourself? Do you need to awaken the warrior within?
Then you need Bruce Banner 2.0
Named after the brilliant scientist and human alter-ego of The Incredible Hulk, this strain truly delivers the green goods. You’ll feel inspired, uplifted, powerful, and unstoppable: just like any superhero should.
Good for sports and other physical activity. Especially the kind of activities where you get to smash stuff.
6. Banana Treez
Hybrid
Terpene profile: Limonene, beta-Caryophyllene, alpha-Pinene
Banana Treez is like fine wine: banana wine to be exact.
Yes, banana wine is definitely a thing. Look it up. You won’t be disappointed.
This is a smooth, well-balanced hybrid that leans slightly towards sativa-ness, but you’ll still feel nice and relaxed in your body.
This strain is ideal for working on passion projects; the kind of work you really love doing. Banana Treez will just make that work all the more enjoyable.
7. Strawberry Sparkling Wine Hard Sweets (Mindy’s Kitchen)
If you’re not interested in vaping or smoking, Mindy’s Kitchen has cooked up something pretty special for sativa lovers who need focus and energy: Strawberry Sparkling Wine Hard Sweets!
These candies are deliciously sweet and actually do taste like wine! Each piece of candy is individually wrapped in a vacuum-sealed package to preserve freshness.
Each piece also contains 10 mg of THC, but while it’s advertised as a hard candy, it is soft enough to break in half if you want to lower the dosage to around 5 mg.
One last great thing about these edible candies? You don’t have to keep re-dosing every 1.5 hours or so. They’ll sustain you with considerable sativa power for several hours, allowing you to be productive and feel good while doing so.

Parents and Cannabis: What You Need to Know
Is it okay for me to use cannabis if I have kids?
Should I smoke in front of my kids?
Should I tell my kids that I use cannabis for medical reasons?
These are all good questions.
You have kids. You want to make sure that they’re healthy, safe, and well-provided for.
You also have a medical condition. Treating that condition with cannabis makes your life a whole lot easier.
Or you’re a recreational user who needs to unwind at the end of a long day. Instead of reaching for a glass of wine, however, you reach for your pipe and a gram of Cookie Face.
Of course, there’s the stigma. Decades worth of social conditioning that’s told us that cannabis is harmful, has no medical value, and is a gateway drug to more dangerous substances.
Even though you’ve done the research and know the truth about cannabis, that stigma is still strong.
What will my family, friends, and neighbors think?
Another good question. And the perfect place to begin our post on cannabis and parenting.
Don’t Worry About What Other People Think
The exception to this rule is the state authorities. You should definitely care what they think to the extent that you’re following ALL of your state’s medical & recreational cannabis laws.
Aside from that, anyone’s opinion about you being a cannabis user and a parent is just that: their opinion.
Look, we get it. We all want to be liked and well thought of by other people. It’s part of being human.
But if you’re using cannabis for medical reasons, it’s nobody’s business but yours.
And if you decide to indulge in a vape pen or pre-roll — instead of a glass of wine or a bottle of beer — after the kids are tucked into bed, again, that’s nobody’s business but yours.
You do you.
Set Rules For Yourself Regarding Your Cannabis Use
Every parent knows that you’ve got to establish rules and boundaries for your kids. Otherwise, they’ll run all over you.
But as adults, we also have to set rules and boundaries for ourselves so that we can set a good example for our kids.
Consider the following questions:
Are you going to consume cannabis in front of your kids?
There’s no right or wrong answer to this question. But there are pros and cons.
Pros: If you’re a medical patient suffering from severe chronic pain, PTSD, or some other condition, you may not have the luxury of waiting until after the kids are in bed. Taking your medicine during morning or afternoon hours might mean that you’re able to be pain-free and more present with your family during those hours.
Cons: If you consume large doses of cannabis, it might compromise your ability to make good decisions around your kids. You also might have to field questions from your kids about what you’re smoking/vaping/eating and why (we’ll get to that issue in a second).
Our take: If you’re using cannabis for recreation, it’s generally a good idea to wait until after the kids are in bed before you partake. Stay lucid during the day and let yourself unwind at night.
If you’re a medical patient and you need to consume during the day, consider a more discreet method — like an edible or vape pen — so that you can use it when your kids aren’t looking. Don’t try to drive your kids anywhere while you’re intoxicated, even if that means arranging for them to get a ride from someone else.
Are you going to tell your kids about your cannabis use?
Again, this is a personal decision.
We’ll just say this: legalization is rolling across America. People are already talking about it.
There’s a very slim chance that your kids aren’t going to be curious about your stance on cannabis use, even if they don’t know that you use it.
Whatever you decide, it’s probably a good idea to be prepared to have that discussion in case they do ask.
If you do decide to tell them, we recommend giving them as complete a picture as you can.
Tell them why you started using cannabis. Refer them to the articles and books that you’ve read that helped shape your opinion.
Explain the difference between what responsible use looks like versus irresponsible use.
If your kids are well-informed on the subject, they’re more likely to make smart decisions regarding their own usage when they get older.
Do Not Give Your Kids Cannabis Unless They Have a State Medical Cannabis Card
This should really go without saying.
But smoking a pre-roll and then passing it over to your 14-year-old son / daughter doesn’t make you a “cool parent.”
It’s way worse than setting a bad example for them. Studies suggest that cannabis can have a negative impact on the developing brains of adolescents.
And if you’re caught? You can lose your medical cannabis card (if you have one) and wind up in serious trouble with Child Protective Services, to say nothing of the criminal charges you could face.
However, if your child has a medical cannabis card, and you’re a designated caregiver, that’s an entirely different story.
If you are interested in using medical cannabis to treat your child’s illness — and your child is under the age of 18 — you should consult with a licensed physician.
Once your child turns 18, they’re eligible to apply for a medical cannabis card on their own.
Otherwise, no cannabis until they’re at least 21. Doctor’s (and state’s) orders!
Keep Your Products Hidden and Secure
Keep all your products in child-proof packaging, and keep them out of sight. If your child can’t see or find your cannabis, they can’t accidentally consume it.
Most edibles that you purchase from us will already come with child-proof packaging. If possible, store your product high up on a shelf where a child can’t reach it.
If the edible needs to be kept in the fridge, hide it somewhere in the back where it can’t be seen or easily accessed.
If you feel that it’s not safe to store your edibles in the family fridge, you can get a mini-fridge and keep it in your bedroom.
As for flower, vapes, and shelf-safe edibles, keep those hidden away in your room, either in a shelf, cabinet, or a safe.
Dealing With Secondhand Smoke
We don’t yet know the effects that secondhand cannabis smoke can have on a child, but it’s a valid concern.
If you want to reduce or eliminate your child’s exposure to secondhand smoke, use a vape pen or dry herb vaporizer. Or consume edibles or tinctures – they’re about as smokeless as you can get!

Why You Should Throw a Dinner Party on 4/20 This Year
“Why DAH-LING, didn’t you know? Anybody who’s annnnnnybody is throwing a dinner party on 4/20 this year!”
It’s true. The times have changed. Cannabis is in vogue now.
The CBD craze. Edibles and topicals in chic packaging. We’ve even got a cannabis museum here in Vegas, and hopefully, we’ll have cannabis lounges in the near future.
We expect Vegas’s 4/20 celebrations to be massive this year.
But let’s say you’re not in the mood for a 4/20 night on the town. Maybe you want something a little more private, intimate, and low-key.
If so, you should consider throwing a 4/20 dinner party.
Every Holiday Should Have a Big Dinner – Especially 4/20
All of our major holidays — Thanksgiving, Christmas, National Hot Dog Day — feature food as a central part of the celebration.
4/20 should be no different.
Think about it.
The munchies.
People have been pairing cannabis with food for thousands of years. Think of all the fun to be had at a cannabis dinner party.
Think of all the different dishes you could do!
When people usually think of edibles, they think of brownies, cookies, chocolates, and gummies.
But what about cannabis mac and cheese? Cannabis lobster? Cannabis tacos?
The possibilities are endless.
youtube
Your Social Standing Will Get a Huge Boost
Your friends probably already think you’re cool.
At least…you’re cool enough that they’d accept an invitation to your cannabis dinner party.
Good.
Now imagine the conversations that are going to take place afterwards.
If you do it right, you’ll give them something to talk about for months.
You’ll have that satisfying feeling of knowing that you put together an awesome meal that didn’t just taste great. It made people feel great too.
The food didn’t just expand their bellies. It expanded their consciousness.
It helped them forge deeper bonds with the people around them. It made them feel like life – this life right here – is really, truly good.
Months from now, you’ll be hanging out with your friends, and they’ll be all like, “So when’s the next one?
“The next what?” you’ll ask, even though you’ll know exactly what they’re talking about.
“The next cannabis dinner party!” they’ll say. “You gotta do another one. The last one was LIT AF!”
Showing people a good time is its own reward.
But having the reputation of a lit af party host doesn’t hurt either.
Good Meals = Good Medicine
The world is crazy right now.
People are stressed out and uncertain about the future. We could all use a break.
Communal dinners give us a chance to forget about our worries and enjoy each other’s company. Play games together. Laugh. Relax.
And few things bring people closer than Mary Jane.
So let’s show her some love and bring some quality medicine into the lives of our friends and family.
Throw a dinner party on 4/20. Here are some tips to do just that.
6 Tips on Throwing a 4/20 Dinner Party
1. Put Some Thought Into Your Guest List
Invite people that you enjoy being around, i.e. people who are friendly and chill. Don’t invite people who are all drama or who like to start fights. In a room where everyone’s blazed, one out-of-control person can easily ruin the vibe…and the night.
2. Be Deliberate About Your Menu and How Much Cannabis is Going Into the Food
There’s a few ways to approach this:
You can infuse cannabis into literally every single dish.
You can serve infused and non-infused dishes. This might be the best way to go, because once the munchies kick in, your guests might want other options for food so they don’t get too intoxicated.
You can also serve infused butters, sauces, and oils on the side so that guests can decide how much to apply to their regular food.
If you’re going to have infused and non-infused dishes, let your guests know which is which beforehand.
Be conscious of how much cannabis you’re putting in a dish so that you can advise your guests on how much to consume in order to get the desired effect.
3. Set the Proper Mood
Make the setting comfortable. Dim lighting. Relaxing, chill music.
If you have comfy floor cushions, blankets, and pillows, break those out.
While your guests are waiting for dishes to be served, you can serve them pre-rolls as appetizers. Give them the option of a sativa, hybrid, or indica, depending on their mood.
Don’t want people filling up your home with smoke? Use vape pens instead.
4. Have Some Entertainment Available
You can do things like:
Play video games or board games
Stream movies
Listen to music / bring your own instruments for a jam session
Paint, draw
5. Be a Lucid Host
Don’t smoke or eat so much that you’re not able to handle problem situations if they arise.
Hopefully, you won’t have to deal with any problems at all, and you’ll be able to relax and have a good time.
But you never know. Life is crazy. Things happen.
So try to keep a lucid mind during the evening so that you can handle whatever business needs handling.
6. Let People Crash at Your Place or Make Them Use a Rideshare Service
The party is over. People had a great time, and some of them may be too intoxicated to drive home.
If you’re comfortable with it, offer to let some of your guests crash on your couch, futon, mattress pad, sleeping bag, or whatever else you might have that could serve as a comfortable, functional bed.
But if you’re more of a you-don’t-have-to-go-home-but-you-can’t-stay-here kinda person, encourage your guests to take a rideshare service home.
In fact, it’s probably a good idea to mention your “Party’s Over, Now What?” policy in your initial invitation.
Give people a head’s up as to whether or not it’s an option to crash at your place, or if everyone will need to leave your home by a specific time.
That way, they can figure out how to plan for the end of the evening before they arrive, which will save you a lot of hassle.
7. Make Sure You’re Fully Stocked With Cannabis
Of course, you’re going to need some help stocking up on items for your party. Cannabutter, cannabis cooking oil, cannabis-infused sauces, pre-rolls, vapes, edible desserts…
Well, you’re in luck because for the entire month of April, we’re offering our customers and patients special discounted deals on select products every single day.
Visit any of our three locations — Las Vegas Strip, Tropicana West, or Henderson — so that you can take advantage of these April deals and be well stocked for your dinner party!
Happy 4/20!

Can CBD for Athletes Speed up Muscle Recovery?
CBD oil is gaining a lot of popularity across the country, with people from different fields turning to it for its health benefits. It’s especially fast becoming the go-to supplement of many athletes and fitness enthusiasts. This is because of its ability to reduce soreness and inflammation caused by rigorous training and intense physical workouts. Let’s take a deeper look at CBD for athletes.
CBD for Recovery
During exercise, especially an intense one, muscle fibers rub against each other. This creates microscopic injuries or tears to the fibers, which in turn triggers an inflammatory response. Inflammation is the body’s natural reaction to muscle damage. They are eventually repaired, which allows the muscles to become stronger, but the pain will always be unavoidable. What you simply call a post-exercise soreness is actually an entire process that’s happening inside your body.
Now, to help them manage the pain occurring after a game or a mad session at the gym, athletes and bodybuilders (or even occasional gym goers) often pop ibuprofen to keep them going. But with the stigma attached to hemp-derived CBD beginning to lift, people are switching to CBD products, like CBD for recovery, which is a safer alternative to conventional pain medication. Apart from that, CBD oil doesn’t carry the same side effects that over-the-counter medicines have, a lot of studies have proven its anti-inflammatory benefits.
How CBD for Athletes Works
How does it work, you ask? CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), an important system in the human body that regulates the function of the brain, endocrine, and immune tissues. As such, CBD for athletes helps soothe aches and inflammation. It also helps you sleep better, which is actually when a great deal of muscle repair and recovery happen. It is when the body is asleep that it produces melatonin and human growth hormones. These are important factors in healing and recovery, and if you’re not able to get proper sleep (probably because of the pain, too), then muscles are not given enough time to recuperate.
In short, CBD for recovery helps in many different areas. It activates our ECS and this activation not only soothes sore muscles and joints, it promotes a sense of calm. When we are calmer, the quality of our sleep improves, and sleep is a crucial ingredient in a faster post-workout recovery. Regular activation of the ECS also helps minimize the experience of pain in the long term. Daily servings allow athletes to train harder and stay at the top of their game, making CBD for recovery a better alternative to traditional supplements.

Finding Your CBD Serving Size
Apart from recovery, the use of CBD oil also helps in the improvement of an athlete’s performance and can aid fitness enthusiasts in achieving their goals. While it does help you relax and sleep better at night, it also gives you an energy boost when you need to keep yourself awake, alert, and focused on your workout.
It all depends on the serving size you take. Usually, its calming effects are associated with higher serving sizes, while its stimulating effects are achieved when it’s administered in lower servings. Different people have different reactions to CBD, so it’s recommended to experiment and find out how much CBD you should take.
Other CBD Benefits for Athletes
Another thing CBD oil does, which is a big factor contributing to one’s physical performance, is that it helps you manage stress and anxiety. Game-day stress is very common, and high levels of distress and tension could greatly affect an athlete’s focus. CBD oil helps calm you down and improve your mood so you can concentrate on completing the task at hand the best way you know how.
Did you know that this product also helps with gut issues and nausea? You may overlook the fact that an upset stomach could ruin a game, but it does happen, especially to endurance athletes. CBD oil interacts with our endocannabinoid system which helps ease gut issues, and it also connects with our serotonin receptors to help reduce nausea.
Overall, CBD oil enhances one’s fitness routine and athlete’s performance and cuts their downtime by allowing faster recovery. All of these without the side effects and health risks that prescription medications often have. Again, different bodies have different reactions to the product, so the best way to make sure you maximize its benefits is to get the go-ahead signal from your doctor and find the perfect serving and routine which works best for you.
Our goal at Made By Hemp is to educate people about the benefits of hemp-derived CBD for athletes. If you still have questions, we’d love to talk! Drop us a comment below or contact us today!

CBD Oil and Driving: Everything You Need to Know
Unlike alcohol or Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD oil does not give you a high, slow your reflexes down, or mess up with your visual perception and concentration. It doesn’t have any adverse health effects, and studies show it even helps alleviate stress, pain, or trauma. However, different people react to different doses, and if you’re not sure how it will impact your ability to drive and get on the road, here are a few things you should know about CBD and driving.
First of all, What is CBD and CBD oil?
CBD is one of the many chemical compounds found in cannabis, a plant which has been used for its medicinal properties for thousands of years now. Cannabidiol oil or CBD oil, on the other hand, is an extract made from its leaves and stems, usually mixed with a carrier oil like hemp seed oil. Unlike its other cousins, CBD lacks the psychoactive properties of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which are the ones responsible for getting you high.
CBD oil is gaining popularity as of late, with a lot of studies focusing on its healing potential, and with more and more people taking it as a dietary supplement, using it for therapeutic purposes, physical performance improvement and recovery, and maximizing its properties that benefit the body.
Is CBD and Driving Legal?
Though there is still debate over how the FDA should regulate, CBD is legal on the federal level through the 2018 Farm Bill. Therefore, CBD and driving with it in your system won’t get you into trouble the same way drunk driving would. As long as the CBD oil you use contains no more than 0.3% THC, it’s classified as a hemp product and is therefore legal.
Though this is legal, we wouldn’t suggest you telling the officer as many do not understand the difference between hemp and marijuana.
How long does CBD oil stay in your system?
There is no one single answer to this question as there’s a whole lot of key factors which influence how long CBD oil will stay in your system. The body’s reaction also differs from individual to individual. Among the factors contributing to how long the substance lasts in your body including your body weight, your lifestyle, metabolism, and of course the frequency and amount of CBD oil you consume.
Because CBD can be stored in fat cells, it can stay longer in your system if you have a larger body mass than if you have very little fat in your body. So it also makes sense that people with a more active lifestyle are able to get rid of traces of CBD from their body faster compared to those who do not exercise because they eliminate traces of CBD as they burn the fat. It’s the same thing with diet—as fiber-rich food pulls fatty substances from the body via stool, CBD is eliminated in the process as well. So the more fiber you take in, the faster CBD will exit your body.
Sometimes, though, metabolism is a completely separate thing from a person’s weight or lifestyle, and if you naturally have a high metabolic rate, you’ll be able to eliminate CBD faster no matter how much you weigh or what kinds of food you eat.
Perhaps the most important factor to consider is how much you consume and how often you take it. If you take CBD oil on a regular basis or if you take it in large doses, it will take time before you clear your system completely of the substance.
Won’t it make you feel sleepy?
When taken in higher doses, CBD oil gives a relaxing effect that can promote better sleep. However, small doses can give you an energy boost and keep you alert, awake, and focused, so you may actually drive better! But again, different bodies have different reactions to the product. There is no “one serving fits all,” so it is best to figure out how much CBD oil to take and how your body reacts to it before trying CBD and driving.
So, should you CBD and drive?
Yes. You can take CBD oil and still drive because the 0.3% THC in it will not impair you or get you high. You will still function like your normal self. However, be sure you source your CBD oil from a company you can trust so you know they display the accurate chemical breakdown of their products.

7 Best Ways to Spend 4/20 in Las Vegas
We’re gonna go ahead and assume that you’ll be hanging out in Las Vegas for 4/20.
Because honestly? Where else would you celebrate the high holy day of cannabis?
Denver?
Come on. Denver doesn’t even have casinos. We have ‘em, plus Cirque du Soleil year-round. Case closed.
We’re called “The Entertainment Capital of the World” for a reason, people. This is the perfect day to take advantage of everything Vegas has to offer.
Here are seven great ways to spend 4/20 in Las Vegas!
1. The Love In Festival (April 19-21)
The Beatles taught us that all we need is love. And The Love In Festival is here to prove it.
Cannabis and music lovers will be gathering together for a weekend-long outdoor party in celebration of love, music, and of course, Mary Jane!
The festival will take place at Craig Ranch Regional Park in North Las Vegas from April 19-21.
What’s going to be happening during those three days?
Live music and other entertainment
Art exhibitions
Workshops
Yoga and meditation
Food and drinks
Camping
Other stuff too!
2. Cannabis Atlantis
Speaking of The Love In, there’s a special event taking place during the festival called…Cannabis Atlantis.
We got admit. We’re intrigued. We don’t know much about Cannabis Atlantis except for the fact that:
It’s going to be hosted by Sativa Sean.
It’s inspired by the mythical city of Atlantis.
It’s an EDM experience that will include DJs and music artists performing from “Poseidon’s Throne,” the crown of Cannabis Atlantis. (Poseidon’s Throne? What is that? Is it gonna be like the Iron Throne from G.O.T., only it’s made out of tridents instead of swords?)
Cannabis Atlantis will also feature art installations, sculptures, and Sativa Sean’s “Flower Girls.”
If you’re going to be at The Love In during 4/20 weekend, don’t miss out on this experience. Because it sounds like it’s going to be exactly that: an experience!
3. Slightly Stoopid: “420 at The Joint”
Folk-blues-rock-reggae-hip-hop-funk-metal band Slightly Stoopid is more than slightly awesome, and they’re having their annual 420 party right here in Las Vegas.
They’ll be performing at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Las Vegas on 4/20 at 8 pm. Common Kings and Fortunate Youth will open the show.
4. Hit the Clubs
Telling Vegas tourists that they should go to a club is an easy lay-up. No-brainer. Kinda like telling tourists in Hawaii that they should go to the beach.
“Really? The beach? Great idea. Why didn’t I think of that?”
Anyways, if you’re in Vegas on 4/20, you should go to a club. Music. Drinks. Dancing. The works.
But we’ve also got actual recommendations for ya: three stellar DJs that’ll be spinning in Vegas for one day only – the day of 4/20.
Diplo at Intrigue – The Wynn
Deeoro at Marquee Night Club – The Cosmopolitan
Deadmau5 at Kaos Dayclub (this one’s a pool party)
4. Hit the Casinos and Use “4,2, and 0” as your Lucky Numbers
For the record, this is not a good gambling strategy.
But hey! It’s 4/20. You never know! People always say that “Lady Luck smiles on whosoever she willeth.”
Okay, nobody actually says that. Not in those words, at least. But a lot of people believe that.
So if you’re one of those true believers and you got the money to blow, head to the nearest roulette table and place your bets on “4” and “20.” Do the same thing with keno!
Good luck!
5. Buffets, Buffets, Buffets!
The person who invented the Las Vegas buffet must have been a prophet.
They must have known that cannabis would be legalized one day, and that on 4/20, people from all around the world would descend upon our fair city, inevitably get the munchies, and need food. Lots of food.
Thus, the buffet was born.
Don’t suffer needlessly. When the munchies strike, get it taken care of and go to a buffet. Pronto.
These four are spectacular:
The Rio Carnivale World and Seafood Buffet
The Bellagio Buffet
The Paris Le Village Buffet
Caesars Palace Bacchanal Buffet
6. Ride the Slotzilla Zipline
If you’ve never ziplined over downtown Las Vegas while a bunch of tourists stare up at you in slack-jawed wonder, you’re missing out. The Slotzilla Zipline awaits!
Now…if you’re scared of heights and/or are easily nauseated, it might be best to sit this one out.
But if you’re a born adventure-seeker or thrill-seeker, then the sky is, quite literally, the limit!
7. Visit Essence Cannabis Dispensary and Stock Up on Supplies
This is the most important thing really.
Flowers, vapes, concentrates, edibles. Maybe some topicals for your muscles if you wake up the next morning feeling sore. #WhatHappensInVegas…ya know?
This literally would be the worst day to run out of cannabis. So be prepared. Stock up on supplies.
If you’re planning on spending most of the day on the Las Vegas Strip, our Strip location may be your best option. From there, you’ll have easy access to the north and south end of the Strip, downtown Las Vegas, the Arts District, and a bunch of cool restaurants and attractions.
But if you’re going to be on the southwest side of the Strip, you’ll be closer to our Tropicana West location. We also have a location in Henderson.
One More Thing…
To celebrate 4/20, we’ll be having special deals every day of the month. Here’s a calendar to help you keep track of them all!
If you want to learn about more cool stuff to do in Las Vegas during 4/20, or you want to take advantage of our special deals this month, stop by any of our three locations — Las Vegas Strip, Tropicana West, and Henderson – and one of our dispensary consultants will help you out.
You can also place an order online for either pick-up or delivery!
Happy 4/20!

Hemp vs Marijuana: What’s the Difference?
It seems like you see the letters CBD everywhere today. You almost forget that not long ago, CBD products weren’t legal in America. What makes CBD legal comes down to its plant source. Following the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp and marijuana are classified as two different substances under the Control Substance Act. That’s because the effects of hemp vs marijuana are very different. This contrast is thanks to how marijuana and hemp affect a network inside of our body, known as the endocannabinoid system. Let’s discuss the differences between hemp and marijuana.
Hemp vs Marijuana: A Difference in Genetics
While hemp and marijuana effects differ, the two plants are siblings from the same family. Marijuana and hemp are both species of the Cannabaceae genus. There are two predominant plants in the Cannabaceae family. They are Cannabis indica and Cannabis sativa.
Due to it’s sturdier frame and huskier exterior, present-day hemp evolved from Cannabis sativa. Their short and stocky frame cause hemp plants to grow closer together than marijuana plants do, maxing out around 4 inches apart.
Thanks to the hardiness of their fibrous stalks and close proximity to other plants, hemp can withstand many climates. The durability of hemp allows them to reach maturity within 108 to 120 days.
While hemp is just one species of the Cannabaceae genus, marijuana, on the other hand, can be cultivated as either Cannabis indica or Cannabis sativa. That’s where it’s pickiness stops.
To best grow marijuana, you’re going to need warmer climates and more space. These cannabis family members also like breathing room–upwards of six feet between plants! Hey, maybe space is a bit of a good thing. After all, marijuana matures quicker than hemp, as these plants are ready for harvest within 60 to 90 days.
Another glaring difference between hemp and marijuana? Hemp plants are male. Whereas, marijuana is female. Maybe that’s why they mature quicker than hemp plants!
Hemp Effects vs Marijuana Effects
One last difference in the hemp vs marijuana debate might just be the most important. It involves how compounds within these plants interact with our endocannabinoid system.
The endocannabinoid system relies on a series of receptors located throughout our body. These receptors regulate everything from our mental health to hormone production to appetite.
Research indicates hemp effects are very beneficial to the system. The plant is a complete protein containing all the essential amino acids. Hemp effects also include antioxidative and anti-inflammatory benefits. This wide range of qualities is why CBD oil is popping up in everything from beauty lines to supplements to skin care.
Additional research confirms many of the benefits of hemp effects can also be achieved to some degree by marijuana as well. However, there’s one significant difference between how hemp affects the endocannabinoid system vs how marijuana affects it. This primary contrast is that marijuana triggers a psychoactive effect on the endocannabinoid system.
While marijuana can create a euphoric feeling throughout the body, hemp doesn’t have the same effect on the endocannabinoid system. Farm Bill-compliant hemp can’t get you high. The reason for such a variance in cannabis experiences comes down to two molecules–CBD vs THC.
CBD vs THC
What gives plants their distinct attributes are the network of chemical compounds within their DNA. In the Cannabis sativa family, the significant differences between plants come down to plant-based compounds known as cannabinoids.
Cannabinoids are molecules formed within the oils of the cannabis plant. They are also behind the therapeutic benefits of cannabis.
As the prefix implies, cannabinoids are closely associated with the cannabis family. While other plants do have cannabinoids, none has an abundant supply as members of the Cannabaceae clan. Research indicates that the hemp plant has at least 113 cannabinoids known to humankind.
Think of cannabis plants like men and women. Both genders have estrogen and testosterone in their system. The difference in these levels is what causes one person to grow the characteristics of a male like facial hair or traits of a female such as the growth of breast tissue.
In hemp vs marijuana plants, instead of estrogen or testosterone, their molecular structure depends on the ratio of CBD vs THC.
What Causes Marijuana Effects?
Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol is the THC molecule that gives marijuana its psychoactive or intoxicating characteristics. The THC molecule binds on cannabinoid receptors, creating a euphoric-like feeling on the system.
Under the Farm Bill, hemp plants must have 0.3% THC or less. Due to its low concentration of THC, hemp effects are not psychoactive.
What Causes Hemp Benefits and Effects?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is predominant in hemp plants and the primary reason for the effects felt from hemp. It works in unison with the other cannabinoids in hemp to help bring homeostasis (balance) to our system.
Unlike THC, the CBD molecule doesn’t bind onto many receptors. Instead, it stimulates stressed receptors, causing a calming-like effect on the body.
CBD can’t get you high. In fact, due to its molecular structure, CBD can even counteract unwanted marijuana effects.
A History of Hemp CBD Benefits on Ancestors
Back before plants were classified by species and family, our ancestors learned about herbs through trial and error. They would use plants for sustenance and eventually, for medicinal purposes. One of the earliest texts known to humankind is a Hindu work known as The Vedas. This ancient record referenced cannabis as one of the Five Essential Plants.
When our ancestors migrated, they brought this versatile plant along with them. Chinese emperor Shen-Nung seeped the leaves in a tea to experience hemp effects such as pain relief. Egyptians used cannabis to treat sore eyes. Romans applied hemp extracts to heal sores on both humans and horses.
Our ancestors who went west took hemp along for the journey. As America started colonizing, parts of the country even valued hemp as an acceptable form of payment!
Cannabis was so commonplace that in the 1800s it was an ingredient in many over-the-counter medicines. The plant even landed itself on a list of medicinal herbs in the 1850 US Pharmacopeia.
In 1850, science hadn’t evolved to the point where scientists could differentiate between hemp and marijuana. Cannabis the species was classified like one plant, and this would come to be detrimental in the hemp vs marijuana battle.
Hemp vs Marijuana and Prohibition
In the early 1900s, America was cracking down on mind-altering substances. This change in philosophy caused the country to ban cannabis. During this time, nobody was able to differentiate between hemp and marijuana. They couldn’t figure out that one plant will cause the psychoactive side effects, while the other won’t. Since no one could distinguish between the two, the cannabis ban affected both plants.
With prohibition, companies removed cannabis as an active ingredient in their over-the-counter remedies. Consequently, the masses became deprived of the CBD benefits from ingesting hemp products.
Figuring Out the Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana
In the 1960s, scientists finally discovered the THC molecule. They realized this cannabinoid interacted with the body, fostering the high associated with marijuana effects.
Simultaneously, pharmaceutical companies started to grow. With the industrial revolution, companies began mass-producing medications in the same laboratories that were performing studies on these drugs. With our ever-growing reliance on pharmaceutical remedies, hemp-based care and studies seemed a thing of the past. Therefore, the need to distinguish between hemp and marijuana seemed unnecessary.
While conventional drugs have a place in wellness, many come with a laundry list of side effects. Just watch one commercial and your head will be spinning. These unfavorable effects led many to look toward a more natural form of therapy that had our ancestors’ approval.
In 1996, medical cannabis became legal in California. However, the groundswell behind the hemp movement didn’t swing into full gear until 2012. This was a landmark year where numerous states voted in favor of medical cannabis. Even then, it wasn’t until 2014 the differences between hemp and marijuana were recognized legally. Still, the laws surrounding cannabis can be tricky and make knowing the difference between hemp and marijuana more crucial than ever.
Hemp vs Marijuana and the Law
In 2018, Congress signed a new Farm Bill into law. A provision in this legislature saw the differences between hemp and marijuana finally recognized.

The new Farm Bill reassigned the cultivation of hemp under the jurisdiction of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) instead of the Department of Justice. With this change of oversight, hemp became reclassified under the Controlled Substance Act.
During prohibition, the Controlled Substance Act classified both hemp and marijuana as cannabis. Unfortunately for those who wanted hemp CBD benefits, all species of cannabis were classified as a schedule 1 controlled substance. That categorization held hemp in the same regard as opioids and meth. It’s also a reason for the long-standing stigma surrounding cannabis products today.
Thanks to the new Farm Bill, which was signed with a hemp pen by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, hemp is currently a schedule 5 substance. While recognizing the differences between hemp and marijuana was vital for CBD legality, it doesn’t make all forms of CBD oil legal. Let’s take a look at the difference between hemp vs marijuana-derived CBD Oil.
What is the Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana Derived CBD Oil?
CBD derived from hemp plants compliant with the Farm Bill is legal in all 50 states. That’s because these hemp plants have less than 0.3% THC in their genetic makeup. Therefore, companies can use these plants to extract CBD oil without worrying about creating a formula with psychoactive properties.
Almost one-fifth of the states in our country recognizes recreational marijuana. Based on the guidelines of those states, extracting CBD oil from marijuana plants is legal. Therefore, products in states where recreational marijuana is legal may have a higher concentration of THC than the 0.3% in government-mandated hemp. Consequently, these products may cause psychoactive side effects for the person who is using them. Furthermore, the products may become illegal when they cross state lines.
While hemp got a pass during the new Farm Bill, marijuana did not. If you are purchasing CBD oil in a state where recreational marijuana is legal, check out the label. Make sure the CBD oil comes from hemp instead of marijuana.
To further complicate the situation, states which recognize medical marijuana but not recreational, also allow the extraction of CBD oil from marijuana. Medical marijuana cardholders should always have their card inside their wallet, especially when they are traveling with CBD oil. That way, if you do purchase a product in compliance with your state’s medical marijuana program, you will be in accordance with local laws in neighboring states too.
Full Spectrum CBD Oil Benefits
You must be asking yourself, why bother making CBD oil with marijuana if the plant is illegal on a federal level? That’s because there are therapeutic benefits to the THC molecule. In fact, all 113 cannabinoids in the hemp plant (including THC) are rich in antioxidants, fatty acids, and other micronutrients. Though THC found in CBD products is below .3% and not nearly enough to get you high, having a small amount can still provide benefits.
The primary objective of cannabinoids is homeostasis<

Wellness Wednesday Recap (March 13) – How to Properly Store Your Cannabis
Did you miss our latest Wellness Wednesday?
It’s the one where we shared super-important, vital information on how to properly store your cannabis so that it stays fresh and doesn’t get dry, moldy, or lose its potency.
Yeah, it was pretty awesome.
Don’t worry though. We took notes.
So if you weren’t able to be there, here’s the recap of our Wellness Wednesday event on how to properly store your cannabis!
Basic Storage Tips (by Nurse Danicka Jackson from Essence)
Dried-out flower. Vape oil evaporating too quickly or spilling out of cartridges. Edibles becoming stale and dry. These are just some of the things that can happen if your cannabis isn’t stored properly.
Proper storage techniques don’t just save your products; they’ll also save you money.
When you buy cannabis from us, the product will already be in protective packaging. Once that packaging is opened, you’ll need to take specific steps to maintain the product’s freshness and quality.
Light and air are the two greatest enemies of fresh cannabis. Temperature and moisture are also major factors to contend with.
Light, heat, and oxygen exposure can degrade the quality of the cannabinoids and terpenes in your flower, causing it to develop an unpleasant aroma and flavor.
Use a light-proof, shatter-proof container to store your flower and small edibles such as gummies or hard candies. (At this point, Nurse D mentioned that she eats Dutch Girl waffle cookies to help with her insomnia, and that she uses the leftover Dutch Girl container to store other products as well.)
Mason jars are commonly used to store cannabis because they’ve got a vacuum seal. Unfortunately, the see-through jars can’t protect medicine from light. However, you can get special, opaque Mason jars that ward off sunlight. Or you can just use a regular Mason jar but keep it in a drawer or cabinet.
Treat your medicine like medicine. Always keep it in a sealed container to prevent it from being exposed to germs or other contaminants.
Never leave your cannabis in a car or by a window, or it will dry out.
Don’t store your cannabis in plastic bags. Plastic bags can accumulate static electricity which can cause your flower’s trichomes to fall off. The trichomes are the tiny, glistening crystals that you see on flower. These crystals are packed with THC, so you want to preserve them at all costs.
Don’t store your cannabis flower in a fridge or freezer. Cold temperatures can cause the trichomes to become brittle and fall off.
Ideal storage temperature is between 60-70 degrees. Optimum temperature is between 60-65 degrees. If the temperature in your home fluctuates with the seasons, change your storage location accordingly.
Too much moisture exposure can cause your flower to develop mold. The best RH (relative humidity) level for cannabis is between 59% and 63%.
Use humidity packs in your containers to help your flower stay fresh. Essence carries humidity packs, and you can also grab them from your local smoke shop.
Do not store medicine that has not been cured properly. Improperly cured medicine can develop mold.
Keep your vape pen in a carrying case or container. Don’t just toss it in your pocket or in your car where it can be exposed to high levels of heat. A container will prevent air bubbles, oil evaporation, and the possible leaching of cartridge metals into your oil. You can keep the pen in your pocket or purse as long as it rests inside an actual case.
When you put your medicine in the trunk of your car, put it a cool, storage container. Medicine can be affected by temperature changes within minutes.
For cannabis drinks, considering using a vacuum-insulated travel mug or thermos to keep your beverage cool and protected from contaminants.
Storing Your Edibles (by Nick from Evergreen Organix)
The best way to preserve edibles is to keep them cold. Evergreen Organix products such as cookies, brownies, and macaroons need to be kept in the fridge.
Products like chocolates and gummies can be stored on a shelf. Just keep an eye on the expiration date.
You can also freeze your edibles to make them last longer.
Don’t leave products in your car. If it gets too hot, the THC in your edible might start to break down.
If your cookies or brownies get hard from staying in the fridge, it’s okay to microwave them for a few seconds to loosen them up.
All Evergreen Organix packaging is child-proof, but for extra safety, keep your edibles in the child-proof bag that Essence gives you. Never leave your edibles where a child or pet can easily access them.
Storing Your Vape Cartridge (by Jen from ROVE)
ROVE vape cartridges are compatible with any 510 threaded vape battery.
All ROVE cartridges come in child-proof boxes. When you’re not using the vape cartridge, remove it from the battery, place it in the storage box that comes with it, and store it upright to prevent the oil from leaking out.
Don’t leave your cartridges in direct light or near heat sources.
Best storage temperature is 65 – 70 degrees.
ROVE hardware is made out of pyrex glass, which has a high melting point and doesn’t shed any micro-toxins. It can withstand the heat from a battery but still should be kept out of direct sunlight to prevent cartridge leaking.
The vape cartridge also comes with silicon caps for the top and bottom of the cartridge. When you’re not using the cartridge, put the silicone caps on the cartridge to help protect it against air and heat.
Final Tips on Storage (by Kouanin from Green Life Productions)
GLP packages their flower in glass containers with metal lids and plastisol seals. All products are packaged in environmentally-controlled rooms to keep the flower from drying out.
If you’re just rolling a joint and not going to use your full eighth, take what you need out of the jar, and put the rest back in its regular storage location when you’re done.
GLP offers a recycling program. If you return seven empty jars to our dispensary, you’ll get one free pre-roll, shirt, or hat. The jars are collected from the dispensaries, washed, and reused.

9 Best Cannabis Strains and Edibles for Pain Relief
Struggling with chronic pain?
Do you want to use cannabis as a pain remedy but don’t know which strains or edibles to try?
Totally understandable. We pride ourselves on giving our customers and patients a wide selection of products to choose from.
But that may not be helpful for first-time users who haven’t had the time to learn the differences between individual strains and edible products.
You may not care all that much about terpenes or CBD:THC ratios.
For now, maybe all you want is an answer to the following question:
“Is this product going to make me feel better or not?”
Fair enough. A little clarity and straightforwardness isn’t too much to ask.
So here are the 9 best cannabis strains and edibles for pain relief!
1. Desert Grown Glue
One of the main challenges of using cannabis for daytime relief is that some strains are too relaxing.
Desert Grown Glue is a nice, even-handed hybrid that gives the user uplifting cerebral effects while delivering body relaxation.
Can you still function while using it? Yes. You should probably stay away from complex tasks like solving math equations, but if you want to do some light physical activity or reading/writing, this is the perfect strain for ya.
2. Sour Banana Sherbet
Sour Banana Sherbet is as tasty as it sounds and is ideal for late afternoon / early evening use. Highly energetic users might smoke this and still feel like vacuuming their entire house. But the majority of users won’t feel like doing much work at all.
Instead, think “happy hour.” Eating dinner, relaxing, listening to music, watching TV – activities that require very little brain wattage.
3. Joe Fix-It Honeycomb
If you’re looking for a strain that will relieve your pain and still allow you to put in a decent eight hours of work…
…this is not that strain.
Okay, technically, Joe Fix-It Honeycomb, is a concentrate, which means it’s like a souped-up version of the regular Joe Fix-It strain, clocking in at 80% – 85% THC.
Simply put, it will knock your socks off along with whatever else you’re wearing and then put you in a whole different outfit: psychoactive pajamas wrapping you in wave after wave of euphoric bliss.
Yeah. It’s pretty strong.
We recommend this strain to customers suffering from severe chronic pain, muscle spasms and arthritis.
New users will probably be too overwhelmed by these effects to be very productive. In fact, new users should probably experiment with flower strains and microdosing edibles before jumping to concentrates.
Veteran users may be able to handle some light tasks.
4. Kosher Kush
Kosher Kush is a bona fide classic indica strain. It won the High Times Cannabis Cup for “Best Indica” in 2010 and 2011; it also took home the prize for “Best Strain” in 2011.
Quite a pedigree. Plus, it tastes delicious: earthy and fruity!
Kosher Kush initially delivers powerful cerebral effects. Slows down the thinking. Relaxes any head pain you might be feeling. Soon you feel pretty sedated. But those effects are also seeping into your body, and before long, you’ll be immersed in head-to-toe relaxation.
If your chronic pain is stressing you out and making it difficult for you to sleep, Kosher Kush has you covered: it relaxes the mind, relieves the pain, and encourages the ZZZs.
5. Black Afghan
Black Afghan is a powerhouse indica, delivering impressive, full-body, pain-relieving effects.
Careful though: Black Afghan might sneak up on you slowly, so take a couple hits and wait maybe 30 minutes before your next dose.
Because when those full effects start to come in, they’ll be coming in hot! Great strain for severe chronic pain and insomnia.
6. Highly Edibles Sweet Indica Pucks
Need pain relief that will last through the night while you sleep?
Then Highly Edibles Sweet Indica gummy pucks should be a part of your just-before-bedtime dessert.
Made from organic juices, bursting with flavor, and chock full of Vitamin C, these yummy gummies contain 10 mg of THC per puck.
First-time users may want to divide the puck in half so that they can start at approximately 5 mg per dose.
7. Select CBD Vape Pen
Select CBD’s disposable vape pens are made with hemp-derived CBD oil along with a diverse spectrum of essential oils, depending on the exact effect you’re looking for.
The pens come in three different varieties: Focus, Revive, and Relax. Each pen delivers 1-2 mg of CBD per 3-second puff. Great for treating pain in a quick, convenient, and discreet manner.
8. CBD Euphoria Elixir
If you need relief but don’t want to wait hours for an edible to take effect…
…but you also can’t vape for one reason or another…
…then what you want is CBD Euphoria Elixir.
This CBD tincture contains terpenes such as limonene, humulene, and b-caryophyllene, creating a synergistic medley of effects designed to uplift, relax, and reduce pain and inflammation. Can be used orally or topically.
9. Epiq Water
Who knew you could hydrate your body and get relaxation and pain relief at the same time?
Welcome to the 21st century!
EpiQ Water is alkaline water, which means:
it’s less acidic than regular tap water
it’s rich in alkaline compounds such as calcium, silica, potassium, magnesium, and bicarbonate
These compounds help our bodies process nutrients and get rid of harmful toxins, allowing us feel healthier and perform more efficiently.
And we haven’t even gotten to the CBD part!
Each 8 fl oz bottle contains 40 mg of CBD along with the cannabinoids CBG, CBC, and the terpenes linalool, myrcene, and caryophyllene. EpiQ water is ideal for combating insomnia, stress, muscle aches, and of course, pain.
Additional Cannabis Products for Pain Relief
These 9 cannabis products are among our top recommendations for pain relief, but we have other products that might be more appropriate, depending on your individual needs.
Other cannabis products well-suited for pain relief include:
Cactus OG (hybrid strain)
Fire Angel (high-CBD hybrid strain)
The Juice Co. CBD Vape Cartridge
Venkman Jedi OG Zombie Resin (by MPX)
If you’d like to try some of these products or learn about other pain relief options, visit us at any of our three locations – Las Vegas Strip, Tropicana West, and Henderson – and speak with one of our dispensary consultants.
You can also place an order online for either pick-up or delivery.

You can schedule an appointment with Nurse D anytime from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday. All appointments take place at our Henderson location.
