FAILURE IS THE STEPPING STONE TO SUCCESS
Hi, young friends!
All of you have got your results and most of you have been promoted to the next class. You’ve probably bought brand new books and uniforms too. There must be celebrations going on at home with sweets and other delicacies.
Some of you may have performed exceptionally well and made your teachers and parents proud. Some of you may have performed average. And a few of you may not have been able to perform the way your teachers/parents had desired. And you may have been retained in the same class.
Relax! There’s nothing to be embarrassed of. Failure is not the end of the world. Even Albert Einstein performed poorly in some of his exams when he was a schoolgoing child. Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times while trying to develop a commercially viable light bulb. He is known to have said, “I have not failed 10,000 times. I have succeeded in proving that those 10,000 ways will not work. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I will find the way that will work.”
So, you also need to find a way that will work for you. Firstly, identify the factors that led to this failure. It could be excessive usage of the mobile phone, spending hours on social media, not having a proper plan, or not sticking to a routine. As soon as you identify the factors, get to work on them.
You could start by having a plan. Planning is crucial to achieve success. Without a plan, you’ll be like a rudderless ship. Make a plan/routine as soon as you can and make sure you stick to it. I’m sure you agree that social media wastes a lot of time. So, please limit its usage. Another distraction could be playing games on the phone. It’s extremely time-consuming. If you want to use the phone, put an alarm and stop using the phone the moment your alarm goes off. Apart from these reasons, you could be distracted because you have problems at home, maybe your parents keep fighting all the time, making it difficult for you to concentrate on studies. In that scenario, you’ll have to take the help of your school counsellor/teacher or a relative you trust. Or do you find it difficult to concentrate or retain stuff while studying? There are various tests that can be conducted to know if you need help. You could speak to your school counsellor/teacher about this.
Once you stick to a plan, minimise distractions and identify and resolve all factors which had led to failure. I’m sure half of the battle will be won. After that you just need to work a little harder. And everything will fall into place.
And even if it doesn’t fall into place, be calm and keep working hard because one day you will definitely succeed. Please do not ever think of harming yourself. You are much more precious than anything else and results are just a part of life, not life itself. Your life is the most beautiful gift and always remember that your parents and teachers adore you. Do not do anything that will hurt you and them. If you have thoughts of self-harm, please discuss with your parents/school counsellor/teacher. They’ll give you the best advice.
Several other small, yet significant steps can help you stay focussed in your goals. For example, you can start maintaining a journal/diary. If you write down your thoughts daily, you’ll feel relaxed. Plus, writing everything down systematically will also help you find solutions to problems you are facing. You can also start talking a walk every day. Walking is a good exercise and it also improves brain function by increasing blood flow to the brain, thereby releasing endorphins that boost mental health. Moreover, try to eat more of homemade food rather than junk food and get at least 8–9 hours of sleep every day. Have a lot of water and fresh fruits. Diet also plays an important role in improving memory and concentration.
I hope you all find these tips useful to achieve success and, at the same time, do remember that failure is not the end of the world. And those of you who have performed well, please spare some time to help your friends who’ll benefit from your help.

THE EARTH IS WHAT WE ALL HAVE IN COMMON ! SAVE IT AT ALL COST
Trees to the rescue!
Hi, young people!
Since International Day of Forests (March 21) is drawing near, I thought of sharing some disturbing statistics with you all: 1. Around 15 billion trees are chopped off every year.2. Since 1990, deforestation has robbed the world of approximately 420 million hectares of land.3. Every minute, we’re losing forests at a rate equivalent to 27 football fields.4. 28% of the world’s deforestation happens in Southeast Asia, where our country is located.5. The world is losing 137 species of plants, animals, and insects every day to deforestation.6. 50,000 species become extinct every year. Considering the above data, don’t you think it’s high time for us to take action? Now you might wonder how you, as an individual, can do something to solve the huge problem of deforestation. You might even doubt if your contribution actually matters or not. But, trust me, every single effort in this direction is crucial and it will help us reclaim the green cover. Have you heard of the environmentalist, Jadav Payeng? Well, he was just a teenager when he realised that he should do something about deforestation. One day, he saw snakes dying due to heat on a sandbar near the Brahmaputra River. He immediately started planting saplings and continued to do so for years until the sandbar became a lush forest, populated by animals and insects of every kind. Payeng’s contribution was recognised and he was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2015. Nowadays, he travels across the world to help other nations solve the problem of deforestation. Mexico has granted a ten-year visa to Payeng to help it replenish its green cover. So, if Payeng could take such a major step in his teens, why can’t you?To start with, you all can try out the following things: 1. Try to plant saplings in your compound and your neighbourhood under an adult’s supervision.2. Since the vision of your school is “nurturing Nature and fostering brotherhood,” you can discuss with your principal/teachers to chalk out a proper plan on how to go about planting saplings in and around your school.3. If anyone at home or in your neighbourhood wants to chop off tress, please request them politely not to do so.4. When you attend birthdays of your friends/cousins or anniversaries of your uncles, aunts, and acquaintances or any housewarming events, please gift them plants. Nowadays, you get potted plants which are convenient to carry. When the sapling grows big, it can be transferred to the soil.5. Just planting saplings is not enough — you need to take care of the plants too. Make sure you water these daily. But some plants don’t need water every day. You can ask your parents/teachers for advice regarding this.6. Whenever there’s some construction activity being conducted in your house or neighbourhood or school, please request the elders not to chop off trees but work a way out by keeping the trees intact. Some people have trees growing even inside their houses! It’s possible and perfectly fine. You just need to inform the architect or engineer that you don’t want to cut the trees. They’ll plan the construction accordingly.7. Along with planting saplings, you need to make sure your surroundings are clean too. Otherwise, how will trees grow in places littered with waste? So, please ensure you do not litter and use dustbins properly, while also encouraging your peers and grown-ups around to do the same.8. Some of you have big lawns. Apart from ornamental plants, make sure you plant fruit trees as well because seasonal fruits are good for health. You can also share those fruits with your neighbours and friends.9. If your parents are planning to buy furniture, you can suggest buying furniture made of other materials like vinyl, bamboo, etc. rather than wood. This will save trees from being chopped off. Nowadays, even steel door frames are available in the market, which are an eco-friendly substitute to wood.10. Do not waste paper. Use both sides of a sheet. Do not discard old copies. You can use the blank pages from those copies to make a rough book.11. We all get excited about our birthdays and wish we get lovely gifts from everyone around us. Sometimes, we also give return gifts to those who get us birthday gifts. But have you ever thought of giving a return gift to the planet? Try doing it from now onwards. Every year on your birthday, make sure you plant at least one tree. Consider it a return gift from you to the planet. The planet gives us a lot and it’s time to give a little bit to it too! So, go ahead and plant as many saplings as you can because without trees we won’t survive. And don’t forget to keep your surroundings clean too!

10 Good Habits Students Can Follow For Their Growth and Development
There are numerous good habits that people can develop in them that would make them better individuals in life. Habits need not be specific in nature and can be different for each person according to their way of thinking and lifestyle. What might be an effective habit for our personal growth might not work for others. However, there are few habits that we all can follow to have a positive impact in our lives.
We all have probably asked this question to ourselves at various points in our lives. “Why are some students more successful than others?” Haven’t we?
Although it seems like there are many possible reasons for this, there is just answer to this question that comes down. It is because those students know the good habits that students ought to practice for their growth and development.
There is a reason why our elders, parents and teachers keep on telling us to follow good habits from an early age. It is because they know that these good habits that they are talking about will give the structure students and children need to achieve their goals.
In this blog, you’ll find a list of ten such good habits for students to practice in their day to day life that will help them in their personal growth and development. As a student starts developing these good habits in them, they will become happier, healthier and more successful as a student not just in school but in all areas of your life.
However, some of these habits can also be practiced by elders that will help the children to follow in their day to day lives.
Here are the best habits that you as a student can follow :
Note down five things you are thankful for everyday
In our day to day life, there are a lot of things happening around us and with us. If some things make us happy, few things might not. But there is always something that we are grateful about in our life. Developing the feeling of gratitude in us keeps us satisfied and happy. When you understand that each day in our life, however big or small, there are things we should be grateful or thankful of, you feel more positive. Start the habit of maintaining a gratitude journal or simply write five things that you are grateful for the day before going to bed. This will help you have a good night sleep with positive mind.
Perform an act of kindness
Most of the time we are all very caught up with our own life and things that we are dealing with that makes us forget that kindness is also an important part that we must reflect in ourselves. Being kind to others is a habit that would definitely make everyone a better human being. There is no certain or specific act of kindness that one can do, but a lot of it. For example, you can be kind by just giving a genuine compliment to someone or smile at everyone you come across rather than avoiding them. Feed the street dog you always meet or water that plant you see is about to die. Act of kindness need not be something very big, small and simple act of kindness also mean a lot to people and things around us. Start doing it and see the difference for yourself.
Get yourself some sunshine or fresh air
Make sure that you walk outdoors and get some fresh air or sit in the mild sun to feel active and energetic physically. Staying indoors for 24 hours might cause you severe headache and make you feel weak. When you take a walk in the morning or evening, or sit and play a little in the mild sunshine, you stay fit and healthy. Be sure that you have included going outside as an important point in the list of healthy habits you need to practice. There is a lot of benefit of getting some sun every day. It has been proven that sunlight improves brain function, enhances sleep quality and also reduces the risk of getting certain cancers. So get up, and spend some time of your day in the sun.
Spend time with like-minded people
As a student, you come in contact with hundreds of people throughout the day. And some people can be really influencing and inspiring. Try to make time and spend in their company where you can learn from them. Sharing valuable time with like-minded people is a very good habit that can be extremely beneficial for your growth and development. These kind of people will change the way you think or your approach towards a lot of things and also give you advice about how you can improve your life.
Eat your breakfast within 30 minutes of waking up
Maintaining a healthy food habit as a student is a very important thing. Since students have to come for school early in the morning, they must follow a regular healthy breakfast routine. Eating breakfast is a healthy habit for students that you shouldn’t overlook. It is very easy to find a reason to skip your breakfast but remember that this might end up making you unhealthy and weak. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for students, and you should eat it within 30 minutes of rising.
Follow a bedtime routine
Following a bedtime routine is equally important as all the other healthy and good habits that you are following for self development. If you do not follow a bedtime routine and lack good sleep at night, you may find it difficult to wind down and enter “sleep mode”. Establish a routine that gives you a proper night sleep and you will feel active to perform your tasks everyday.
Create a study plan
A study plan is another important thing in a student’s life. Without a proper study plan to enable you to concentrate, you’ll lack the structure you need to prepare for all the upcoming tests, exams or important assignments and projects.
Clean your study table at the end of each day.
To have a fresh and new start of the day, as a student you must make sure that you clean your study table when your day comes to an end. Obviously, you don’t want your day to start with a desk full of clutter, because this will likely make you feel unmotivated and tired already to do your tasks with enthusiasm.
Learn something outside the syllabus
It is not necessary that you only learn things that are included in your syllabus. Remember that is your school that has a syllabus, but life doesn’t. Learning for the sake of learning is an excellent habit for students to cultivate that will last a lifetime and have a great impact in their lives. There is no end to learning things and learning something new each day will only make you brighter and wiser as a human being. Each day, strive to learn something outside the school syllabus. Encourage yourself to read a good book or enroll into an online course, or learn a new skill. There are so many resources that are available on the Internet which means the information is really just a click away.
Spend time talking to your family members
A lot of kids nowadays have developed this bad habit of spending time inside their room and not communicating much with their family members. It is a matter of extreme sadness that grandparents nowadays complain about not getting to talk with their own grandchildren even after living under the same roof. Family is one of the most important things in the world, so do not take it for granted. Talk to your family members and take an insight of what is going on in their life too. When you spend time with your family, you feel good and forget the negativity around. Moreover, family is the biggest support during student life for a person. Try to communicate with your family more often and maintain a healthy environment in the place where you live in.
These are some of the best habits that you as a student can follow and make a difference in your life. Good habits help us in our personal growth and development. Practice and develop as many good habits as you can so that you become the best version of yourself.

MAGIC WORDS: DO YOU KNOW THAT THESE WORDS CAN ACTUALLY CAST A SPELL?
Hello, smart young people!
What’s the first thought that comes to your mind when I say, “magic words”? Well, let me guess! I’m sure most of you are imagining magic spells from the world of Harry Potter. Some of you are probably wondering if it’s poetry because poetry does tend to weave magic with words. Maybe those of you who love music are wondering if I’m referring to the words of a beautiful song. For those of you who like to paint, I know that magic lies in the paintbrush, while for the dancers, magic is in the steps of dance. The ones inclined to sports are probably guessing that the magic words are, “Ready, steady, go!”
But I’m sorry to disappoint all of you.
In this context, by ‘magic words,’ I mean the words — Sorry, Thank you, Welcome, Please, and Excuse me. I’m sure these words need no introduction as all of you are familiar with these words. But today I want you to ask yourself if you actually use these words in your day-to-day interactions and even if you do, whether these words are only limited to your teachers, friends, siblings, parents, grandparents, and relatives. I want you to reflect on the following:
What about saying “Thank you” to the helper who comes to your place every day? Or asking her politely when you need something… “Didi, please give me a glass of water,” rather than ordering her about by saying, “Give me water!”
How about saying “Thank you” to your driver at home or your school bus driver and conductor who pick and drop you from home and school every day? Or what about saying, “Sorry” to them when you are late?
What about saying “Thank you” to the dadas and baideos in school who clean your classrooms and corridors?
How about saying “Excuse me” to people while making your way out of public transport rather than pushing and jostling?
What about saying “Welcome” to a new student in your class to break the ice and make him/her feel at home?
How about saying “Excuse me” to draw the attention of the waiter/waitress when you go to eat at a restaurant? Or how about saying “Please” to him/her while placing your order and then saying “Thank you” when he/she serves you food?
What about saying “Thank you” to people who deliver food at your place?
How about saying “Thank you” to the person who comes to collect garbage from your house every day?
What about saying “Thank you” to the gardener in school or at home for growing such beautiful flowers?
What about using these magic words for everyone?
It’s time to ponder upon this and make some small changes in your everyday interactions. Trust me, using these magic words will work wonders. People will be happy to interact with you and they will try their best to help you if you ever need their help. Above all, you’ll feel so much better after using these small, yet significant words. You’ll see how smiles will light up on people’s faces when you use these magic words. And that will bring joy to you as well!
So, go ahead and get ready to see some magic after using these words!
What are you waiting for? :)

8 Effective Strategies To Tackle Homework
The life of students is filled with many things including multiple tasks and assignments, one of them being “homework”. A lot of times, we see kids getting annoyed by daily homework from school, but we need to make them understand that homework is an essential part of academics. Most students, do not like doing homework and feel that it can bring a lot of stress and other added conflicts into their daily routine. However, it is not true at all. Homework can be a great opportunity for students who are keen to learn something new and better. It is very important for us to complete all our homework on time and not leave anything behind which will only add up more stress and pressure in the future. If you are bored of doing your homework every day and are skipping it most of the time, you are going to face several problems in the coming days that will not only impact your grades but will also mentally cause trouble for you.Consider homework as the battle that you need to fight during your school days. It is often seen that students along with their parents find it more difficult to deal with this academic requisite than others. Several fundamental strategies can reduce trouble and stress while dealing with homework. In this blog, we discuss 8 such effective strategies that can help students while dealing with homework pressure in their day to day life.
1. Organised Your Study Space To Do Homework A clean and organised study space is the key to concentration in a student’s life. If you want to complete your homework at the right time, then you must be aware that it is vital to find a clean and organised space to do your daily homework with a fresh and concentrating mind. It is essential that the study space is kept clean and tidy and in a quiet place as well as at a distance from the living room in your house so that the student can do homework quietly for at least an hour without having any distraction or disturbance. All you need to do is make sure that the study space is not messy and is well maintained so that you are kept away from distractions which can become your enemy during your study hours.
2. Keep Away Distractions It might sound very traditional strategy that might not work in this modern world, but it is imperative to keep away your electronic gadgets like earpods/earphones, cell phones etc away from yourself while you are doing your homework. We all tend to check our phones whenever we hear a beep or notification sound coming from it. Most of the time, the tendency to check becomes so strong that we find it irresistible to avoid. Keeping away these electronics and other gadgets away during homework time can become a very effective idea. However, if you require your laptop/computer while doing homework, you can use website blocking apps such as “stay focused” and chrome extensions such as “strict flow” to avoid distractions. Moreover, to make sure you are distraction-free, you can also let your family and friends know that you do not want to be disturbed at a particular time when you are working or studying as this will also help you in getting your stuff done faster.
3. Set a Proper Time Table Set a proper timetable for yourself if you want to complete all your homework on time. Set the timetable based on the different subjects you have in your syllabus. Make sure that you dedicate the finest time and the time when you are most active mentally to do your homework. When students set a proper timetable to do their homework, it helps them to complete their homework on time and also saves a lot of time to do other activities and pass good times. Students should go through their timetable to look over all offered homework and rank them as per priority whenever they are planning to do their homework This will keep homework time on track and will also terminate stalling. Students should have to build a habit of doing homework on time every day and by setting a proper timetable as well as following it, they will successfully tackle this challenge.
4. Identify Your Time For Homework Setting up a timetable is not enough if you do not identify the right time for your homework. Everyone in this world has those specific times throughout the day that they find most efficient and energetic to work on. Those hours of the day when you feel the most productive and energetic, dedicate it to the completion of your homework. Many students find the evening to be the best time for themselves to do homework, while many others find it best to do it after dinner. Everything just depends on your study habits and the parents as many students also take help from their parents while studying and can only do it whenever their parents are free.
5. Comfortable Work Environment Whenever you are putting pressure on your mind, you look for a place best suited for you to smoothly complete the work. Being a student, your study time is the work which needs a good and comfortable working environment to smoothly complete it. Whenever you are doing your homework, you must stay away from places that keep on distracting your concentration. You need to find a quiet and silent place with less to no distractions around you so that you can complete your work faster and more effectively. It is always a great idea to have a set of tables and a comfortable chair in a well-lit environment so that you can do your homework comfortably without any trouble.
6. Take Time To Relax No matter whatever the work is, the human body always feels the need and time to rest and relax. Being a student can be tough and tiresome from being busy the whole day. As a student, you feel the pressure to just work straight through hours so that the work gets completed on time. But this habit of working without break will just slow you down with time and make you feel sick and weak, draining out all the energy of your body. So take a break between work and while sitting to do your homework so that you do not feel like leaving your homework for later. Many people also losses attention and the will to continue concentration for longer hours without break, which might result in less productivity. So stick to a regular schedule of taking time to relax between study and work. 10 to 15 minutes of break-in every 1 hour is an idle break time schedule especially for students.
7. Go Digital When we say “Go Digital” it doesn’t mean the same as allowing ourselves to use mobile phones during study sessions. Here, by going digital it means using the benefits and embracing the pros of technology to reduce the usage of papers. Always scan important notes and make a PDF out of them. You can use it for daily revision and whenever you want to. Nowadays a lot of schools also accept printed documents which help reduce the use of paper. Moreover, going digital will help you learn things in a smarter way making studying fun and enjoyable. A lot of times students start panicking when they see scattered papers all over their room. This scenario gives an Illusion of a great amount of work, thus making students feel pressured and exhausted. Remember that getting your homework done is not enough. You also need to understand why homework is important. Only then can a student start excelling in academics during school.
8. Gather All Your Needs Keep all the things you need to do your homework around you whenever you sit to do it. Necessaries like your laptop, textbook, notebook, pens and pencils, geometry set, calculator, graphs and all the others that you need as per the demands of the subject you are dealing with. This is a very important point to remember because when you forget your supplies and keep getting up between your homework to get it, it breaks the concentration and makes it harder to get back to your homework efficiently. So, after planning the homework, you will get an idea of everything that you will need when you sit to do your homework. Keep all your necessary items ready at your study table before you begin with the actual work.

WITH HOLI AROUND THE CORNER, LET'S LEARN ABOUT GOOD TOUCH AND BAD TOUCH.
Say “No” to bad touch! Hello, young friends!
The month of Phagun is upon us and the best part about it is Holi — the vibrant festival of colours! Holi celebrations begin on the full-moon night of Phagun with Hollika Dahan and continue till the next day with people applying myriad hues of colours on each other.
According to mythology, the demon Hiranyakashipu took his sister’s (Hollika’s) help to kill his son, Prahlad, because Prahlad was a devotee of Lord Vishnu. Hollika tried to kill Prahlad by sitting on a lit pyre with him, wearing a cloak that protected her from the fire. But the cloak protected Prahlad instead and Hollika burnt! That very night Vishnu killed Hiranyakashipu. Hence Holi is celebrated to mark the victory of good over evil.
In contemporary times, the best thing about Holi is the fact that it blurs the distinctions of class, caste, and religion and brings people closer — everyone comes forward to partake in the Holi festivities, be it with just a tikka on the forehead or simply by sharing sweets with each other.
So, with Holi around the corner, you all must be gearing up to smear colour on each other, gorge on gujiyas, glug some thandai, and do all sorts of fun things! I totally understand your excitement. And I really hope you have a good time!
But do remember that you do not have to do anything you’re not comfortable with — be it playing Holi with friends or letting an adult apply colour on you — just because it’s Holi. Some of you may have skin allergy and that’s a valid reason to stay away from colours. Some of you might find it uncomfortable when a cousin/relative or a neighbour/acquaintance or a friend forcibly tries to apply colour on you and, in the process, touch you in a way that’s not appropriate.
For example, if someone, apart from your doctor (it’s okay if he/she is examining you in the presence of your parents or caregiver) or your parents, tries to touch you, it’s important to say politely but firmly, “No, you can’t touch me,” and immediately leave that place.
Later, do talk to your parents or school counsellor/teacher about it. You don’t have to be embarrassed or feel guilty. It is not your fault at all. Your parents/teachers will help you out and, in most cases, take action against the person who had touched you inappropriately.
Please remember that the body parts which remain covered when you wear a swimsuit are neither to be shown to anyone, nor allowed to be touched by anyone. You should not see those body parts of others too. It’s also okay to report to your parents/teachers any touch that makes you uncomfortable, scared, or confused, no matter which body part it involves. Sometimes, even a hug or a peck on the cheek might make you uncomfortable and it’s okay to say “No”. You do not have to please anyone for a festival or just because you know the person well or he/she gets you chocolates and expensive gifts. Trust your gut feeling and say “No” when you feel uncomfortable by a touch.
Be safe and have a Happy Holi! Since International Women’s Day is coming up too (March 8), don’t miss a chance to be thankful to the women who make your life so much easier — your mother, teacher, sister, grandmother, friend… and the list is endless!

Understanding Cybersecurity for Students
We all have probably heard about Cybersecurity and how it has become one of the issues with great concern over the years. But little do we think about it being a very serious threat to the education system of a society. In the year 2020, from the months of July to August, the Microsoft Global Threat Activity Tracker have detected more than 8 million malware incidents. And do you know which industry is the most affected? It is the Educational industry that has proved to be the most affected by malware incidents as per the Microsoft Global Threat Activity Tracker.
With technology being skyrocketing towards development, education has also upgraded to keep up with the trend. In the recent times, we can see how there has been a rush around the globe to adopt e-learning which has also exposed the field to an increasing cyberattack. More and more cybercriminals are finding opportunities to defraud learning institutions and schools, stealing sensitive information or deploying ransomware schemes to extort money.
According to FBI sources, many attackers are taking the advantage of the sudden transition to online learning because of the COVID-19. Even though online learning provides many positive opportunities for learners, it also becomes an important matter to strengthen cybersecurity defences.
In this article, we will discuss the information needed to identify common cyber threats for those who are associated with the education industry. We will also discuss the tips and best practices to follow that will help you keep yourself and your institution safe.
Cybersecurity for Students
Online learning has become a common mode of education in the recent times and much malicious cyber activity has affected students in a variety of ways. According to Education Technology, after the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of potential attackers has increased.
What are the Cyber Threats for Students?
Before we go forward discussing on how to keep ourselves safe from Cyberattacks, we need to have a strong understanding of the threats that are faced by today’s students in their day to day life. Here are some of the attacks that you as students need to be aware of:
Data Theft: As per reports from CNBC, the attackers know very well that students often have a lack of proper understanding of how to take care of their financial data which they put online for the first time. Experts say that hackers can use this data for identity theft, credit fraud and many more.
Malware in Mobile: Researchers have found that attackers target mobile phones mostly. As students have found all the facilities on their mobile phones they have started to move from desktops to the smartphone. This is why students must be very cautious while using it.
Camfecting: Many students nowadays use their smartphones to do their online classes. With a webcam and camera built-in into their phones, students found it more accessible to deal with their studies. But the most important thing that students do not know is that this opens the doors to camfecting which allows hackers to remotely access and take control over the camera.
Malicious Social Media Messaging: Facebook and WhatsApp are two such social media messaging platforms that are prone to be attacked by cyber attackers. According to various studies, hackers took full advantage of the pandemic and post-pandemic situation and lured victims to phishing websites which may lead to misuse of personal information. According to a study on cybersecurity threats amid the COVID-19 pandemic, hackers are taking advantage of platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp with scams to lure victims to phishing websites, which can compromise personal information.
Social Engineering: Among the many cyber attacks social engineering scams are among the top cybersecurity threats faced by higher education students, as per research by EducationDive. These social engineering attacks rely on manipulating users into revealing confidential information.
Tips for Students for Cybersecurity
Cyber attackers nowadays are constantly discovering new ways and strategies to attack users on the digital platforms. It is extremely important to protect yourself from these serious threats. Here are five cybersecurity tips that will help you protect yourself from these cyber attacks.
Keep your software up to date: Always be sure that you keep your mobile phones and other devices up to date. This means that it will update all the software on your devices. Out of date software can put you at risk and become the victim of these cyber attacks.
Do not share personal information: Be careful about what you are sharing on social media. Sharing personal contact numbers, addresses, school addresses, email IDs etc can put you at high risk.
Install Virus Protection: Antivirus or virus protection protects your smartphones and laptop/desktops from malicious cyber activity. Virus protection with anti-phishing support on your device will keep you safe online. Make sure that you keep scanning your devices if any virus attacks have been made. Make sure that you check at least once a week.
Do not click unrecognised links: Do not click on unrecognised website links that you find popping up on your phones and computers. These ads that show up on our devices from untrusted sources can host malware that will install and risk your digital security.
Stay on Guard for Phishing: Always stay cautious that you do not open any kind of email attachments from untrusted sources. Surely there might be emails from friends and teachers but always keep yourself alert to use caution while opening any kind of attachments.
There are also necessary steps that we can take for safeguarding ourselves from Cyberattacks at home. As parents, a child’s protection is above everything else.
Parents are children’s best protection against the threats that are found online. There are ways by which you can protect your child from being the victim of cyberattacks.
As a parent, you are your child’s best protection against online threats like those mentioned above. Here are five steps that you can start following with your child today.
Maintaining online privacy protection: Make sure that you have taught your child how to password-protect their devices in their online accounts. Explain to them why creating strong passwords is important and that they should never share their passwords with anyone outside the household.
Identity protection and location: Always remember that you must remind your child to disable photo geotagging if they use Android and iPhone and remind them not to share any personal information online like age, address of the school, phone number or any other identifiable data.
Use Secure WiFi: Always ensure that your home’s wifi includes encryption and a strong password that restricts access outside your space. Share your WiFi password only with those that you know and trust.
Make use of parental controls: Many parents give their kids their first digital devices like Tablets and smartphones at a very young age when they do not even understand the power in their hands. So start using the built-in parental control features that will help parents monitor their children’s usage as early as possible.
Understanding cybersecurity is a very essential part of our lives. Especially in today’s world where everything is getting digitalised. Therefore we must make sure that we remain aware of the cyber threats that we might become victims of and avoid falling prey to the cyber attackers.

A Helpful Guide To Choose Your Stream After Your 10th Boards
Everyone comes through this moment of decision making in their lives when they have to step into secondary education and choose the path in which they want to shape their lives. This moment of decision making happens at the end of school or 10th standard. At this point in your life in your education journey, you will have to make a choice between completing your senior secondary schooling in either Arts, Science or Commerce stream or going for any other professional courses after the 10th standard. Many students nowadays also go for various skill development courses and training programs when they are sure what they want to go for in the future that can place them into their field of interest rather than going to the 11th standard. With a new batch completing their class 10th board exams recently and waiting for their results, it is quite understandable how confusing it might get for students as well as parents to decide which stream or course they need to opt for their children. If you are planning to pursue a good program and don’t have an idea where to start or are confused about the choices then this blog is just the right place for you. Here is a detailed article for you to go through that elaborates and offers a comprehensive understanding of the streams including the courses that you can take up after your 10th board and accept the benefits that they offer you.
1. Arts Stream
While you pursue your education to become successful in your life, whether in medical, engineering, law or media, everyone has to go through the 11th standard and pass it. This is why choosing the right stream after your 10th is such an important decision in everyone’s life as it sets the way for our future academic decisions. One of the most studied streams is Arts. This stream can be a very great option for students as it opens doors to many career options. Arts is also commonly known as Humanities as it involves the study of human society and the world around us. It includes subjects like Sociology, History, Geography, Media, Fine Arts, Psychology, Political Science, Law, Physical Education, Home Science, and many more. While studying to become successful, whether, in law, engineering or journalism, we all have to study and pass the 11th standard. Thus, choosing the right stream in class 11th is extremely important as it sets the path for our future courses in education. One stream that you can choose is the stream of Arts. Here are a few reasons why you should choose arts in class 11. The pros of taking up the Arts stream after 10th is that it allows the students the freedom to express themselves in their write-ups. It offers the students to acquire knowledge of how the day to day life of the society that we live in functions by studying subjects of economics, sociology and anthropology. Arts also allow students to get knowledge about the history and geography of the world. Arts include various courses that can help you be an amazing professional. Courses like Journalism and Mass Communication, Mass Media, Animation and VFX, Fine Arts, Digital Marketing, Designing, Hospitality and Tourism, Hotel Management, Event Management and many more can become one of your interests after taking up the Arts stream in the 11th standard. Arts is a great option as it offers a wide range of courses that helps students use their interest and hobbies for academic value.
2. Science Stream
A very common period in Indian society is about that time when your marks as a student in class 10th used to determine the stream that you need to choose. While marks still are very much important and play a significant role in choosing your stream, the interest factor nowadays has also become a very important factor to choose your stream. What is the point of choosing a stream just because you scored high on your 10th boards if the subject doesn’t make you happy? Whether you want to become an Engineer, Doctor, Researcher, professor, Charter Accountant, pursue literature or want to be a chef, you need to remember that along with marks you also need to focus on what your interest holds. Science is a stream that a lot of students opt for without giving a second thought if they score good marks on their 10th boards. But this should not be how you make the decision as Science is a very tough field of study and needs a lot of dedication, time and willpower to pursue a career in this field. However, Science is a field of dignity and there are some great courses and subjects in it that can lead students to a better and more beautiful career. The pros of choosing the Science stream after your 10th is that it is a very fun subject if you develop your interest in it. It allows a student to train his/her brain and become smart, intelligent and progressive in nature. When a student chooses subjects like Physics and Chemistry it increases their understanding capacity. It allows them to develop scientific knowledge and theory about all that is going around the world that they come across. Another great thing about Science is that it offers you a variety of working opportunities that you will never get bored of. Starting from the human body to the universe, space a student gets ample opportunities to learn a lot of things during their life as a student. The contribution of Science to human society has been of great significance for a long time. By developing new and alternative solutions to every problem from waste disposal to the production of fuel, Science has made life better for mankind. Students develop highly relevant skills that are required in almost all the workspace.
3. Commerce Stream
Commerce is a very popular stream of education in India. It can be simply defined as a study of trade and business activities. Commerce is associated with activities of business such as the exchange of goods and services to the consumers from the producers. In Commerce, a student has to deal with subjects like Economics, Accountancy, Business Studies etc when they opt for Commerce stream after their 10th standard boards. If you are a student who has a strong affinity towards numbers, and the business or economy, then commerce is a stream for you. Take up this stream if you genuinely have an interest in this area of study. The Commerce stream is chosen by a lot of students after their class 10th in India. The reason for this is because Commerce offers a wide range of career opportunities in the corporate as well as the public sector which will assure a stable future and financial security for any individual in their life. However, we must not forget that Commerce is a field of study that requires students to have a strong and certain aptitude for the subjects involved to be successful in it. This point is often not realised by students when they opt for Commerce without proper thought and later find it difficult and less interesting to deal with. A lot of students make the mistake of choosing Commerce thinking about the financial security and well-paid jobs after pursuing their studies. But they go through a lot of difficulties in their lives if they do not develop an interest in the study area which later results in below-average scoring which can lower a student’s chances in the career path in this competitive world. However, there is also a number of positive reasons why a student should choose Commerce as their stream after the 10th standard. To understand whether you are someone who is actually meant for Commerce or not, whether you are meant to acquire its importance, scopes and career options, we will explain to you the essence of studying Commerce. When a student takes up Commerce stream in their school curriculum after 10th standard for their secondary education, they have to deal with subjects such as Economics, Accountancy and Business Studies along with a couple of other compulsory subjects. When you are studying Commerce, you are essentially taking up knowledge of the various activities that are involved in the world of business. The subject is designed to develop business acumen, financial literacy and analytical skills and many other skills as such. If you are a student who has a penchant for the variances of the commerce scenario and the economy involved all around us, this is where you need to make up your mind and take up Commerce as your area of education. Over the years, India has made a notably high rise in the interest among students in the area of study, Commerce. Nowadays, a lot of students are opting for Commerce after their 10th board and are aspiring to become successful professionals in both public and private sectors of employment.

ROLE OF AI (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE) IN THE EDUCATION SECTOR
Artificial intelligence (AI) plays an increasingly important role in the education sector, transforming how we learn, teach, and assess student performance. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a field of computer science that focuses on the development of intelligent machines that can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as learning, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Artificial Intelligence is a branch of science producing and studying machines aimed at the stimulation of human intelligence processes.
AI technologies have been rapidly advancing in recent years, and they have the potential to transform a wide range of industries, including healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and transportation, to name a few. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been gaining popularity in the education sector in recent years, as educators and policymakers look for ways to enhance the quality of teaching and learning. AI has the potential to transform the education sector, making it more effective and efficient. In this blog, we will discuss the importance of AI in education.
1) Personalized Learning
One of the most significant benefits of AI in education is its ability to personalize learning. AI algorithms can analyze student data and tailor learning experiences to the individual needs of each student. This means that teachers can create customized lesson plans and provide targeted support to struggling students. Personalized learning has been shown to improve student engagement, motivation, and achievement.
2) Intelligent Tutoring
AI-powered tutoring systems can provide students with personalized, one-on-one support that is available 24/7. These systems can track student progress and adjust their instruction accordingly. This can be particularly helpful for students who may not have access to a tutor or who may need additional support outside of regular class hours.
3) Automating Administrative Tasks
AI can automate many administrative tasks, such as grading assignments and creating reports. This frees up teachers’ time, allowing them to focus on teaching and providing support to their students. Automating administrative tasks also reduces the potential for human error, ensuring that grading and reporting are accurate and reliable.
4) Enhanced Learning Experiences
AI can enhance the learning experience through interactive, immersive simulations and virtual environments that provide students with hands-on learning opportunities. For example, AI-powered simulations can provide students with virtual experiences that would be difficult or impossible to replicate in the real world, such as exploring a historical site or conducting a scientific experiment.
5) Predictive Analytics
AI can analyze student data to predict which students are at risk of falling behind and provide early interventions to prevent them from falling off track. Predictive analytics can help teachers identify students who may need additional support and provide targeted interventions before it’s too late.
6) Language Translation
AI-powered language translation tools can help students and teachers communicate in different languages, making education more accessible to students from diverse backgrounds. This can help to break down language barriers and ensure that all students have equal access to educational opportunities.
At present young people tend to use lot of time using their smartphones or tablets. This gives them a chance to study for ten to fifteen minutes in their free time by using AI applications. AI helps us understand the mood or ease of students during lectures by using Gesture Recognition Technology. Since AI becomes more sophisticated the machine reads the facial expressions or gestures of the student and uses them to know if the student is struggling to understand the lecture and alter the lesson so that the student can follow up easily.
In conclusion, AI has the potential to revolutionize education by making it more personalized, efficient, and effective. AI-powered educational tools can provide students with customized learning experiences that are tailored to their individual needs and abilities, while also automating administrative tasks and providing teachers with more data-driven insights into student performance. With continued development and innovation, AI has the potential to make education more accessible and effective for all students.

Cutting the Cut-offs with CUET – A new approach
Before focusing on “Why CUET is important?’’ it is essential to know “What is CUET?”. With all the hype and news around by far, we know that the acronym CUET stands for Central Universities Entrance Test. The National Testing Agency, NTA is the body that conducts CUET for all the students of UG (Under Graduate) and PG (Post Graduate) courses. The CUET 2022 is all set to be tentatively in the 2nd week of June. It has been a few weeks since we were introduced to the CUET or Central Universities Entrance Test. However, there are still queries and or confusions revolving around it. And, as the NTA has started the registration process for CUET 2022, it is important to get a clear picture. What is it? How will it affect you? Who can register for CUET? What is the paper pattern? How can one register for CUET 2022 and so on?
WHY CUET?
Every student desires to get admission into their dream college or desired University after completing 12th standards or their UG Courses. However, earlier all the focus on getting admission was on the skyrocketing cut-offs that tend to increase each year, and surprisingly enough in the last few years, it turned to 100% in many universities. That makes it a problem for the students with good merit (e.g someone with 90%-98%) to get the preferred admission.
Now, with the introduction of CUET, every student gets a fair chance to perform their best in the entrance exam and get admission to their desired college or university.
ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES FOR CUET.
As per the National Testing Agency and UGC for now they have notified that they will be conducting the CUET for the UG courses in the month of June. However, they will be later on conducting the CUET for PG (Post Graduate) and Ph.D. levels as well. The following table will help us get some idea about the eligibility criteria-
SYLLABUS FOR CUET
The syllabus is an important factor for any student to crack any examination and come out with flying colours. Like all other exams, CUET too has got a certain syllabus to be followed in order to pass the entrance exam. Now that we have had a basic idea and cleared some doubts about the CUET, let us get to know about what is the syllabus needed for CUET.
On March 29, the chairman of the University Grant Commission, UGC, M Jagadesh Kumar, said that the syllabus of the upcoming Common University Entrance Test, CUET 2022, will be completely based on the syllabus of Class 12.
A simple break-up of the syllabus is given below-
There will be 3 sections namely Section A which will be a language proficiency test where the students need to select and compulsorily appear for 1 language among the 13 offered languages. Section B will consist of domain-specific subjects and the students need to pick 6 subjects out of 27 offered subjects. This section will basically test the candidate’s aptitude. The third section namely Section C will consist of general awareness.
Also, the basic criteria for applying for CUET for the UG level is a minimum of 50% marks in class 12th (General Category) and a relaxation of 5% which is 45% for ST/SC students.
And for the PG level, a minimum of 55% (General Category) and 50% (ST/SC/OBC/Others) is required in the UG courses.
Most probably CUET UG 2022 is going to be held in June or July 2022 tentatively and the CUET PG Exams date to be announced shortly, therefore the aspirants must buckle up and start their preparation for the exam to have a good hold on the syllabus.
CUET EXAM PATTERN
We are now familiar with the syllabus of the exam. Now let us move toward the pattern of the exam. By pattern what we mean is how the overall system of the question is. Those are-
The question paper of CUET PG 2022 consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions.
Candidates will get 2 hours (120 minutes) to solve the CUET 2022 question paper.
The candidates will be awarded 4 marks for each right answer and 1 will be deducted for the wrong answer.
No marks will be awarded or deducted for unanswered/blank questions.
The pattern for CUET UG is-
Section 1: Languages (40 Questions to be attempted out of 50 Questions)
Section 2: Domain-Specific (40 Questions to be attempted out of 50 Questions)
Section 3: General Test (60 Questions to be attempted out of 75 Questions)
As per the official CUET notification, for every correct attempt, 5 marks will be awarded. For every incorrect attempt, 1 mark will be deducted. There will be no penalty for unattempted questions.
CUET | Advantages
By now, we have had almost the idea about the common FAQs of the CUET. The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is a praiseworthy decision in multiple
aspects. It has the potential to streamline admission processes by avoiding the overstressing of multiple entrance tests and thus reducing the financial burden.
Also most importantly, the burden and the stress on the back of the students of cutting through the cut-offs have been prevented by the introduction of CUET. Now they can fairly perform well in the entrance exam and move into their desired colleges, thus having mental satisfaction both in the minds of parents and students as well.
Education with proper guidance plays a vital role in shaping one’s career. That is why
We at SFS Narengi, Guwahati, one of the best and top schools in the North East, has very well realized the importance of preparing our students for CUET, and to fulfill the goal the school has already prepared separate curriculums to ensure a maximum of our students crack CUET. The students are made aware and taught about different and efficient study techniques that would help them to crack the CUET with less difficulty.
Our school is always ready to serve the best interest of the students and thereby they have been providing and conducting special classes training for students of class 11–12 to ensure they get admission to the best colleges in India portraying sheer academic excellence.

8 Key points to help you know NEP 2020 (New Education Policy) better!
“The Destiny of India is shaped in her classrooms.” has been rightly quoted by the Education Commission. Education is the backbone of any strong nation. It is only with proper knowledge and education that a country can progress and shine at the forefront of today’s world arena. That is why this blog is to help you know about the facts of the NEP 2020. The NEP or the New Education Policy has been proposed by the Ministry of Education earlier known as the Ministry Of Human Resource and Development (MoRD), on 29th July 2020. It has been a revolutionary step by the Ministry to pave way for the entire education system in the country to be changed, and probably change for good. After a span of 34 years, that is from the induction of the old education policy that has been prevailing in the country right from 1986 this is the first time that a change or amendment has been made keeping in mind the need for the Education sector to adorn itself well with the demands of the 21st century. Read this blog, to understand and know some key points about NEP or the New Education Policy listed below-
1) Timeline for NEP — the committee for brainstorming and preparation of the draft for the New Education Policy handed over its first report to the concerned Ministry on 31st May 2019. This draft was based on the foundational pillars of the policy, which are access, affordability, equity, quality, and accountability. After submission of the draft, it was uploaded on the MoRDs website, inviting suggestions and views from various stakeholders as well as the common public. Post this the draft was circulated to the different Ministries of the Government as well as all the States and Union Territories for their views on the DNEP or the Draft National Education Policy. Gradually there were several meetings with different Education Ministers, heads of autonomous organizations, concerned officials of the union and state government, VCs of different Universities, etc. Finally, after all the deliberation and several meetings the New Education Policy or NEP was approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by Mr. Narendra Modi on 29th July 2020.
2) Structure of School Curriculum as per NEP- Let’s now try to get some idea about the structure of the new policy. The old structure of 10 + 2 was dropped with the introduction of the new structure which would be 5 + 3 + 3 + 4. Now the classes would be divided into two four categories namely-
a) Foundation Stage (includes 3 years of Anganwadi or pre-school followed by classes 1 and 2).
b) Preparatory Stage (includes classes from 3 to 5).
c) Middle Stage (includes classes from 6 to 8) and lastly
d) Secondary Stage (includes classes from 9 to 12).
3) Stream/Subject Selection- Earlier as soon as a student passes his class X examinations, the parents, as well as the student, rush to get admitted to any of the streams available amidst the 3 streams. Imagine you like Physics but you also like Sociology or have an interest in political affairs of the world. What would you do now? Well, One of the biggest merits of this newly introduced Policy is that there is no hard and fast rule for selecting subjects from a rigid set of subjects provided to the students. The process of subject selection is quite flexible. Students are free to choose the combination of subjects they would prefer for their studies. There won’t be any compartmentalization like Science or Arts.
4) Multiple entry and exit points- With the introduction of this New Education Policy (NEP) now, one of the ground-breaking changes that have been made is that now the students will be provided certificates at various levels during their undergraduate course. Earlier if a student due to some reason could not sit for the final exams during the last semester or the last year, he/she was considered a dropout, and all his/her previous years are wasted without a degree. But now with NEP or the New Education Policy, a certificate will be provided after the first year, Advanced Diploma after two years, Bachelor’s Degree after 3 years, and Bachelor’s with research after four years.
5) Focus on Multilingualism- Imagine coming to school, in a new environment, among new people, and the medium of instruction is only restricted to one language which is not the same as your mother tongue. It would be hard to communicate your feelings to the teachers and friends as well. Earlier the medium of instruction was restricted to English but now NEP focuses on the compulsory use of mother tongue/regional language/local language till grade 5 and preferably till grade 8. No language will be imposed on any student. Sanskrit will be taught and offered at all levels of school and higher education as a part of the school curriculum, including in the three-language formula. With the introduction of using the mother tongue in the lower levels of classes, it will be beneficial for the students as they will feel more at ease and in comfort, enabling them to learn more proactively.
6) Emphasis to be given to faculty/teacher training- Children carry their education and knowledge they have gained during their studies for life. And the teacher is the one who imparts this knowledge to the students The NEP focuses on the teachers to be well trained, energized, have good institutional leadership quality, etc. the process of teacher recruitment will be very transparent. Also, the minimum criteria for teaching would be four years of integrated B.Ed degree.
7) Importance in online education and digital teaching-. With the world witnessing pandemics and epidemics, the online mode of education was practiced worldwide. This New Education Policy has emphasized on the need for alternative ways of the teaching-learning process in case the offline mode of teaching is not available. How more and more online methods of teaching can be introduced that will be efficient in the teaching-learning process.
8) Focus on Vocational Training- In today’s world being just a bookworm by merely focussing on marks is not sufficient and good for the holistic development of the child. And thus, the New Education Policy lays more stress on the need for the introduction of vocational training as a part of their curriculum. This will enable the students to acquire some set of life skills that would help them during any point in their life. Thus from 6th standard onwards, options would be available to select the choice of vocation training the students would like to go for.
Hope this blog helped you in knowing a lot about the New Education Policy and clear your clouds of confusion regarding the NEP 2020.

HOW CAN STUDENTS IMPROVE THEIR TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS?
No matter how you slice it, there are only 24 hours in a day. Time is a finite resource, and it’s up to you to make the most of it.Time management is an important skill for students to develop, as it helps them balance their academic, social, and personal responsibilities.
The Importance of Time Management
The importance of time management comes down to how much it impacts your personal and professional life. Time management is organizing your day so that you find the best use for every moment.Excellent time management allows you to create a healthy balance in your school life and home life. The consequences of failed time management include missing deadlines and living with excessive stress.
Even if you’ve failed to manage your time in the past, it’s never too late to change. Here are some tips to help students improve their time management skills:
1) Set goals:
Start by setting realistic and achievable goals for each day, week, and month. This will give you a clear idea of what you want to accomplish and how you want to allocate your time because when you set realistic goals, you get to prioritize in your mind which goal will require how much realistic timeline to be full-filled and can work on the goals accordingly.
2) Create a schedule:
Make a daily or weekly schedule that includes time for academics, extracurricular activities, exercise, and rest. Stick to the schedule as closely as possible because everything is important in life as ‘all work and no play makes jack a dull boy.’ And following a proper schedule would be helpful as that would make sure that no time is wasted from the precious 24 hours that we get in a day.
3) Prioritize tasks:
Prioritizing tasks is one of many ways to manage time. By prioritizing the tasks one can accomplish many tasks that he/she has planned for the day or probably the week. Prioritizing means to determine the order for dealing with a series of items or tasksaccording to their relative importance. Make a list of all the tasks you need to complete and prioritize them based on their importance and deadline. Focus on completing the most important tasks first say for example it is your exam time so completing the syllabus will be your priority.
4) Use a planner:
Keep a planner and use it to track your daily, weekly, and monthly tasks and schedules. This will help you stay organized and on track.Using a planner allows you to schedule each event, exam dates, mock test dates, and task so that you know what to expect and don’t run out of time. Set specific due dates and deadlines for everything to help you stay on track, and have extra time left for yourself and your family.
5) Eliminate distractions:
Identify the distractions that take up your time and try to eliminate them as much as possible. This could include turning off your phone, closing social media apps, or working in a quiet environment.
Take breaks: Regular breaks are essential for maintaining focus and productivity. Take short breaks every hour or so to stretch, take a walk, or do something fun.
Learn to say no: It’s important to know your limits and not overcommit yourself. Saying no to unimportant tasks or commitments will give you more time to focus on the things that matter most.
Review and adjust: Regularly review your schedule and adjust it as needed to reflect your changing priorities and responsibilities.
By following these tips, students can improve their time management skills and lead a more productive and balanced life.

The web of Digital Trial- A Cause of Concern?
Do you remember an incident that buzzed over everyone’s phone a few years back wherein we came to hear about the feud between a food delivery agent and a lady, where allegedly she accused the food delivery agent of hitting and punching her? The incident was in Bangalore city. By now you must have recalled.
Well, at the very first instance most of the people thought and some even concluded with judgements that the person at fault was the delivery guy itself, following which news articles started flashing on our screens, and the social media pages were surrounded by memes, pictures, and videos as well. Numerous articles got published. It became a topic of discussion for all.
But amidst all this chaos what was left unattended was the TRUTH!!
The content we watch, hear, or read online influences our minds in some way or the other. In this indispensable era of the digital world, no person can keep a bay from digital services. Digital services in the broader context mean various platforms provided to us digitally like for example the news channels, the online portals, Youtube, and social media platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, Twitter, etc. The extent to which these digital platforms or services impact our minds and polarise the truth over an issue is something to be thought of with some grave importance.
So, what is the Digital Trial?
Digital Trial is nothing but the trial or the drawing of conclusions over issues pertaining to others’ life based on a half-truth or to say more aptly only a tiny version of the truth presented by these numerous digital platforms in the form of short bite-sized videos, articles, pictures, etc. mostly that might affect the actual judgement of that case (in legal matters) or the reputation of the parties related to the incident.
Thus, we need to learn to use our rational thinking and train our brains to be able to differentiate between the truth and the version or bits of truth being presented to us. The problem with such kinds of trials or the impact of such trials is that the ability of the people to analyze the different and various versions of the incidents is diminishing day by day, especially for young minds. The young minds seem to lose the sense of analytical thought process making them able to see things from a rigid point of view as these digital platforms constantly keep on engaging our eyes and minds by using their algorithms to probably temper the truth.
There have been numerous examples of such digital trials in recent years, especially during and post-pandemic when the mode of almost everything became online and we all became inseparable from the digital world. With the advent of the internet era, there have been key changes in the everyday lifestyles of people. They are glued to their screens and thus they themselves don’t realize how they are being preyed to the biased information being provided to them.
Pros of the Digital Trial
Although mostly this Digital Trial is a negative thing but it has certain merits as well. One of the merits is, that sometimes it is due to the publishing of events online using videos, pictures, articles etc, some incidents get reported and are being addressed as well as solved. Also, sometimes due to hype in media as well as the social media platforms, which are a major part of the digital genre, an issue is addressed with more proficiency, and the process for justice is initiated in a fast forward manner, because when everyone is updated about the details of the case that too the updated details of each day, thanks to our social media, then it is difficult for the competent authorities not to work on it.
Cons of the Digital Trial
There are many demerits of the Digital Trial, and the first and foremost demerit is the victimization of the people involved in the case. It usually happens that the people set their narratives and start putting judgements already on the basis of audio-visuals available on the internet about a certain person being the offender and thus affecting the actual judgement that is supposed to happen as per the Judiciary as the trial is a process to be conducted and carried by the courts and not any other incompetent authority like the news channels, and the social media platforms. Another demerit of the Digital Trial culture is that it stagnates the critical thinking process of people’s minds, especially the younger minds i.e the children and the students.
How can we train children and students not to fall prey to such biased information?
By now we have had an idea about this whole web of digital trials and how the minds of people can be polarised regarding information.
With this being a trend and a part of our lifestyle now, it is very important for teachers as well as parents to help and guide their students and children about ways to train their minds and about ways of developing proper reasoning skills. These skills would help them in many ways and mostly would help them to analyse the facts and contents they read, watch or come across online via the digital platforms.
1) To make the students more digitally literate the schools can come up with various counselling sessions as well as seminars wherein they can be made aware about what are the current such scenarios going on in and around them and let them speak out on ways they think about that certain issue.
2) The teachers can come up with certain ideas where they set up sessions in class to make the students understand the concept of multiple perspectives because only then they will be able to analyse situations from different angles and it is crucial to scrutinize any problem or any piece of information/news they read or watch, before believing them or coming to any biased conclusion, from different aspects to get to a better solution or understanding of the issue.
3) Both the parents and the teachers can encourage and focus on the decision-making abilities of the child. Through this the child will be able to deliberate about the right/wrongs, pros/cons etc of the news or to say ‘the trending news/issues’ that have been flashing on their screens letting them think about the certain issue in their certain way.
4) Another method that can be adopted by the parents, as well as teachers, is to train the young minds to keep their minds free of the single-dimensional versions of truths being presented by today’s digital platforms, is to make them learn to connect ideas. Let’s see a small example to understand this-
To make things interesting, let’s give this game a name. Let it be ‘Connect the Dots’. What the parents and teachers can do is to give them two (or more) different scenarios or questions like for example in the case of students the questions could be-
How many students commute daily to school by the school bus or private cars?
Do you know/carry the city bus route from your home to school, or what are the different communication options available in the city?
Now this is how the students shall develop the ability to connect different ideas i.e the connection between the above two questions is ‘transport communication’, that in case the school bus gets delayed or maybe due to some reason the parent is not able to drop the child, the students can get to school by alternate means of transport facilities by using their thinking skills.
The digital trial is something that will be prevailing in our times but what is more important is the ability to think outside the rigid dimensions of any issue and be able to do the basic reasoning and not believe in the biased information available on our screens. Therefore we at SFS Narengi, Guwahati keep on trying our best to let our students have the best of minds and enhance their critical thinking skills by organising various lecture sessions, counselling sessions and digital awareness workshops for the students and interactive sessions with the parents as well so that with the proper collaboration of the school, the students and the parents we can help keep our students and their minds healthy as the budding young minds are the future of the country.
We have always tried our best to provide the students with the best ways to inculcate innovation within themselves so that they can give shape to their imagination. SFS Guwahati, being one of the best private CBSE school in Guwahati with Integrated Coaching is dedicated to enriching the students and cultivating innovative mindsets within them.

CULTIVATE AN INNOVATIVE MINDSET WITHIN STUDENTS
As educators and parents, we’re often told to be creative and innovative with our students and children. But how do we start? Who teaches us about creativity and innovation? How can we embody creativity and teach it to our students, when we may not have developed this ability?
Just as we plant the seeds of creativity within our students, we need to sow seeds of creativity within ourselves. Creativity has to be nurtured in order to grow, strengthen, and renew. It starts with nurturing a creative mindset within ourselves. Here are a few tips that require few or no resources to implement in your classroom. For educators and parents alike, it is essential to help children develop the skills they need to adapt and thrive in the face of challenge and uncertainty. Known as an innovative mindset, this way of thinking has been proven to help students navigate situations that lack simple solutions.
Learning is a dynamic and scintillating process, where the learners acquire knowledge about diverse fields and concepts. The students attend school, receive a formal set of education, and move up to the next academic grade after taking and passing the final exam. Now, the question is how would you create an innovative learning environment that contributes to the overall development of the student and engages them in a more unique classroom space? Innovative classroom space can be a solution!
By innovative classroom space, we need not mean high-quality 2023 digital tools and techniques. We mean creating a learning space that helps candidates derive knowledge from a creative segment, engage better with their teachers and peers and get the chance to showcase their uniqueness.
1. Create your own “Three Ifs”
Let’s be clear about this — there are no universal recipes for innovation, and each person should develop her or his own approach depending on specialty, interest, type of thinking, or even the type of team s/he is participating in.
We should try to build creative thinking around three “ifs”:
(a) What would happen if I change it (the object/ system/ social relationship, (etc.)? (b) What would I change or improve about this object if I wanted to use it in 10 years? © What would I do if I had a one-million-dollar investment to improve it?
These questions can become powerful tools that can help you to think differently. It is important to exercise these skills by repeatedly using the “three ifs” formula (or designing your own set of questions) about all sorts of things. And many new ideas will pop up.
2. Practice Dreaming
The greatest paradox is that creative thinking is not necessarily the product of IQ or enlightenment via the proverbial apple falling on your head. It is a matter of regularly training your imagination, practicing your powers of observation and dreaming, big or small. It sounds so simple, and yet in this era of information overload and highly charged urban life, this important element is often missing from our everyday lives. All too often we stay focused on the main task at hand, devoting our mental powers to routine actions so that at the end of the day the most creative idea we can come up with is just to finally take a break in front of the TV or computer screen.
3. Let Students Ask Questions
Let students ask questions — but don’t rush to give them the answers! Yes, this will go against your instinct as a teacher. However, it is important for students to feel brave enough to ask questions and then have the courage to find the answers themselves as often as possible because when they will ask questions, they will use their thinking capacity and while trying to answer those questions they will discover more innovation within themselves.
4. Make Hands-On Learning a Regular Event
Students thrive in hands-on learning environments. When they are given the opportunity to learn through experience rather than just a textbook, they will be more innovative because the practical sessions put a greater and graver impression on the students than merely learning in the things written in textbooks.
5. Reward Students
No matter how small, reward the students whenever they present their creative ideas — it encourages them to think creatively. Verbal praise in front of the class is a good way of rewarding a student. More ways of rewarding a student include distributing candies/chocolates, giving fancy stationery items like colored pens, etc. Rewarding a student boosts their motivation and helps in developing creative thinking.
6. Be a good listener
Listening to students’ creative ideas can be very helpful for motivating them. One can be a good listener by concentrating on the speaker, being comfortable with silence, asking good questions, and not interrupting the speaker. Being a good listener as a teacher can make a student more responsible. They know someone is keeping a check on them and is expecting more from them; hence more input can be seen from the students’ side, which would result in developing creativity among students.
