Hogwarts Houses Aesthetics

Hufflepuff: Bees buzzing past the window on a hot afternoon, a record buzzing quietly in a sunny room, humming under your breath, hugging friends in corridors, the feeling of a plane landing in your home country, taking polaroids of random things, walking through the woods alone in autumn and feeling the silence, leaving footprints on wet sand, sunsets over the ocean, fireflies in the woods at night, clear blue skies after a long winter

Gryffindor: Doing crazy things on dares, hangovers and regrets after a drunken night out, screaming the lyrics to songs until your throat hurts, heat shimmering over a campfire in the woods, burning your tongue with hot chocolate, smoking a cigarette for the first time, inside jokes, laughing until your sides ache, lying on the grass at night and naming the stars, bantering insults, warming your hands after playing in cold snow, tapping someone’s shoulder and running away, looking back at old videos of good times with best friends

Ravenclaw: Going for walks in the early morning before the sun rises, frost on holly bushes, exhaling steam in the cold air, watching the rain make ripples in ponds, wet grass, silence in between the bookshelves, forgotten secrets, going to the library and losing track of time, dust motes floating in a sunny room, making swirls in milky coffee, tired eyes, standing under old fashioned street lamps at night, driving through mist on a forest road and nothing feels real

Slytherin: Empty sunlit halls, whispers behind hands, dark, marble floors, matte lipstick, piercing stares, seeing beauty in the gloom, manicured hands, dancing, branches stark against the sky, robins singing on branches dripping melting snow, sleek high buns, the burn of champagne, a dark forest at night, sneaking out late to see your friends, the shared weight of a heavy secret, looking down off a cliff, the feeling of nicotine in your veins, writing in black ink with a feather quill, mirrored lakes, the feeling of calm before a storm, echoes of last night in an empty ballroom

17 August 2019, Late Morning

Regulus left on assignment from the Ministry in the middle of the night. Nes was pretty shaken up. Of course, Reg couldn’t tell her anything, only that he was going with his brother.

After consoling her, I convinced Nesrin to come back to my cottage and stay with me until Regulus returns. Emmalynne may be over after work.

For now, tea and binge watching tv shows are a good distraction. It also helps that she adores Snowflake, my cat. He’s a master cuddler.

I hate seeing my sister like this. But, there is another war brewing, and her husband works for the Ministry. All she can do now is wait.

16 August 2019, Late Afternoon

While my dear husband was too busy reading that darn work-related book, I decided to dye my hair yet again. It’s a simple spell, but it takes a few tries to get the color right.

After I finally peeled that book from his stubborn grasp, I got Reg to bake with me. And by bake with me, I mean watch me bake and judge my mess. Jerk. He’s lucky he’s cute.

I made butterscotch cupcakes. Reg watched, and taste tested the frosting. I was just happy to see him so calm after a such a tense task from work. He needs to slow down, but he never listens.

Now, he’s laying on the couch fast asleep with a spot of frosting on his upper lip. Merlin, I love him.
