I FINIALLY got to see the live action httyd last night.

Obviously there are some changes. Overall I thought it was really good and I definitely cried. I thought the pacing on some scenes was weird (too fast, too slow) and a lot of the dialog was clunky.

It kinda felt like watching people reenact the og without scripts but they had just watched it instead. So some lines were like an idea of what they were ? If that makes sense

They got rid of one of my favourite lines. When hiccup finds toothless for the first time "I did this" and when stoick finds toothless after the red death fight "I did this"

I feel like they could've made hiccup more sarcastic and moody teen

LOVE what they did to my special boy (snotlout) but I wish they kept his flirty lines and made him more of an asshole. (I love you snotlout. Oi oi oi)

in my opinion, Toothless is always a night fury even in modern AUs. I like the idea of him as a cat or something exotic but I prefer the idea that dragons are real and still around and Hiccup found one. Idk what that would look like for his conflict with his dad or identity but I like to think dragons are or could be real. Just in hiding.

Maybe that's just wishful thinking for a bigger and better world though

if ur writing modern au httyd fics i do not want to see toothless as a house cat i need hiccup to be the weirdo who somehow has a pet panther and everyone is equally as surprised by this as they are by the dragon

My headcanon for httyd is that no one but hiccup can actually ride toothless. Like no one else can peddle the foot/prosthetic mechanism. To me that's what makes test drive even more meaningful. When they're falling and hiccup throws away the cheat sheet it shows hiccup truly becoming one with toothless. They are both flying

When anyone else rides toothless in the movies/shows no they didn't sorry

If Merida had her own series, like the tangled series or rtte, what do you think would happen in it?

Would she adventure to far off lands? Maybe we'd get to see what the other clans kingdoms look like

Or explore more folklore

In a delete scene from the movie she sees the Loch Ness monster, maybe that would be a plot?

I'd be so curious to see what would happen... what new characters would be introduced

I can´t stand this blasphemy anymore, the Ravenclaw one is Hiccup not Rapunzel(who is Hufflepuff) and Jack is actually a Gryffindor like Merida.

I absolutely agree, but I will say, I love when Anna and Elsa are background characters like in fics or fanart. I don't mind them all being in the same universe. I just think Elsa would be older and not really interested in running around with the four, and I think Anna would stick with Elsa

Can't stop thinking about writing a fic about the big four in modern times, just out of University age, working and trying to be functional adults when they discover a magical compass that let's them jump to different worlds/centuries/dimensions and they get into crazy and scary situations

If only I had time or talent

BUT

in another breath I'm thinking... yknow what! I don't need to be a good writer to write, I just need to do it. I should not let not being good at something stop me from doing it
