Ashara   did   not   speak   at   once.   The   words   hung   between   them,   delicate   as   spider-silk,   threatening   to   vanish   if   touched   too   harshly.   She   looked   at   him—not   the   Lord   of   Winterfell,   not   the   man   wrapped   in   duty   and   silence—but   just   Ned,   his   voice   rough   with   truth,   his   eyes   searching   hers   with   that   same   quiet   ache   she'd   once   glimpsed   by   the   shores   of   Starfall.

Her   breath   caught.   Ashara   turned   away   for   a   moment,   as   if   the   stars   on   her   house’s   banners   might   lend   her   the   clarity   she’d   once   believed   they   promised.   When   she   finally   met   his   gaze   again,   her   voice   was   soft,   but   steady.

"You   always   belonged   to   honor   first,   my   lord,"   she   said,   though   not   unkindly.   "And   I   never   asked   to   take   its   place.   But…   I   remember.   The   way   you   looked   at   me,   once.   The   way   you’re   looking   at   me   now."   Her   fingers   brushed   the   hilt   of   the   blade   at   her   hip—a   silent   tether   to   the   past,   to   Arthur,   to   everything   they'd   both   lost.
