                 TASK NUMBER FIFTEEN: two truths && a lie !!

for our fifteenth task, we’re going to be having some fun with a little game. as we’re welcoming in new characters && members, we’d love to get to know all of your muses a little bit more with a game of two truths and a lie. you will write two truths and a lie based off of a topic that you are given. the basic format of this is someone drops a topic in your inbox, and you are to reply with two truths && a lie about your character(s). these can be as obvious or not as you wish, but you’re not to reveal which is which. (you can, if you want, if someone asks you, but on dash in the post ?? we want to keep it fun, so sharing which ones are truths && which one is the lie would give it away, yeah ??) two things to keep in mind: be creative !! make things up, have fun with it. this is meant to be good character development && make you think about your character(s). and two, when giving out subjects, try to keep it general. things you’re curious about. topics like career, love, family, pets, friends are super easy !! something super specific might take a little bit of fun out of it if it’s super stressful to think about. but if you know that it’s a topic/word that the particular character(s) could really relate to (maybe a favorite band, a person in their life, where they grew up, their vehicle), then go for it !! the truths && lies can get as deep && personal as you want. the goal of this task is to make you think a bit about your character(s), try to come up with something fun, deep, scary, real, and then throw in one lie to just entertain yourself. others in the group will get to know your character(s) a little bit more (with the exception of that one lie) && overall ?? it’s supposed to be a fun time !! for each ask your character answers, they’ll get 5 points each for each blurb. there’s no maximum amount of topics you can send out, but we do ask that you send at least three. 

how to play: for example, if someone gives you the word “school” in your inbox, you would reply with two truths && one lie about your character’s connection with school. say your character graduated high school && went to college on a scholarship, maybe do something like… 1) my character dropped out of high school. 2) my character was involved in greek life in college. 3) my character cried when taking the SATs. your answers can be as detailed or simple as you want. write a paragraph for each point, or keep it short and simple with a few words !! there’s no right or wrong way to play.

dawn had been unsure of how to dress for this adventure she was having with preston. did she try to look cute and comfortable? did she wear her swimsuit during the hike to the hot spring or hope when they arrived that there would be somewhere for her to change at without preston seeing too much? with her constant over-thinking she decided it was best for her to dress for the hike and change into a suit once they got to the spring. walking up to the deck to meet preston she greeted him with a quick hug before responding to his question. “i’m ready! i’m super excited this will be my first time traveling outside of the united states before— well actually that’s not entirely true since I was technically born outside of the u.s but this will be my first time remembering the experience so i’m super excited! i’m really loving the trip I love all the different stops we’re making and getting to learn all about the places we’re visiting. i’ve also grabbed a lot of really cute trinkets to remember the trip by! well I don’t know about that I had a really great time in hawaii.” dawn wasn’t going to mention that she had shared a kiss with ryder in the ocean which was the reason the trip was so special to her, but even if she hadn’t had her first official kiss there she still had an amazing time. she shook her head laughing lightly about his comment. “we should probably use the map— we don’t want to get lost on our way to the spring. as much as I trust your intuition I think it’s probably logically to follow directions. especially when we don’t speak multiple languages.”

no, dawn was completely right. hiking was absolutely out of character for someone like preston. he was not one to enjoy roughing the trails, as much as he was more opposed to scouting the endless streets of the city. but to spend time with dawn was what his goal had been and he figured he’d benefit in the end with these hot springs that everyone was raving about. he just hoped that he wouldn’t be disappointed.

 fifteen minutes and he was down on the deck near the port, looking for dawn who he had caught in the crowd. something in him forcing a wide grin on his face. moving quick to slide next to her and give her a small nudge. “so hiking buddy, you ready to see what the hype of this place is? they gave me this map but i doubt i’ll need it. it seems easy to get there.” he said with his ego obviously getting the best of him as always. “have you been liking the trip? as much as boats aren’t my thing i think it’s better than hawaii. better food, for sure.”

SUITE LIFE ⇢ DAWN ON DECK 

while traveling dawn tries to keep it pretty casual while still looking nice. we all know she likes taking pictures of her friends but lately she has been branching out and trying to take more pictures of herself— which means dressing up a little more than usual and getting out of her comfort zone. she is also thinking about starting a blog where she takes pictures of herself doing things in her daily life and then writing a blog post. two things she enjoys doing: photography and writing. normally during a trip in warm weather she will be seen wearing platform sandals and colorful, flowy pieces of clothing.

“So…how do I look?”

‘so how do I look?’ preston’s question lingered in the air as the two walked down the streets of the foreign land they were visiting. she wasn’t quite sure how to respond. he was dressed up a lot more than he usually was for whatever reason. normally he was in his security uniform or in some sort of rough, harden outfit he had probably picked up off of his floor that morning. but, something was different this time. he looked much more put together and had an air about him that showed effort. almost like he had dressed up for the occasion. even the way he asker her how he looked seemed like he wanted her to notice there was something that he had changed for their outing. “you look... nice.” she stated cooly. her eyes darting from his body to the shops they passed. “except— you know you don’t have to dress up for me right?”

“winter is my favorite season because I prefer the cold weather. I love the snow falling, making snow angels and building snow people. I love wearing sweaters and being all bundled up in a blanket with hot chocolate. also hallmark christmas movies— they are the literal best.”

“oh— um. well it’s a guy— who works at the malnati. he is tall. nice to me. every time we talk he is just the sweetest. we have a great time together and I feel like i’ve known him my whole life even though i’ve only known him since I moved into the hotel. it’s crazy to think that one person you meet randomly is someone who could change your life so drastically. I think he kind of has an idea that I like him, but nothing super serious has come about it. I mean like we’ve never talked about what we’re doing or how we feel about each other.”
