im sorry if i seem to be biased towards ford….. i am it’s the truth

i was just in the middle of one of my “let’s count the ways in which ford is terrible” sessions when i remembered exactly how into narrating/acting out dd&md scenarios ford was, and now nothing works. ford is so good. nothing can lower my opinion of him, i love him so much

me drawing mabel & stan for a themed set: wow i think i managed to make a good composition that also suits the character on a shallow level!

me drawing ford for the same themed set: the composition is awkward and i no longer know who ford is. is he the self-proclaimed lone hero? is he a jerk who needed to learn about love and togetherness? am i drawing this before or after his sudden redemption-and-change-of-heart-as-written-in-journal-3, and how do i mesh the two attitudes for a more general approach? how do i even casually approach his character anymore without getting flashbacks to paragraphs upon paragraphs of meta & “but don’t forget–!” and spending days wondering how to reconcile journal 3′s dialogue with what’s presented in the show? am i really just that bad at analyzing text that i can’t see that he’s “been the same all along” when i have taken into account that journal 3 features an unreliable narrator and i have kept in mind that real life humans wrote him to write that way and that might be why things don’t seem to match up “but really do”? if i can’t see that his character is consistent between text and show like everyone else can, doesn’t that mean that i’ve been depicting ford wrong this whole entire time, and that my refusal to accept journal 3 as an utterly amazing piece of canon writing is actually out of a reluctance to admit that i’ve built my blog upon over a year of obvious mischaracterization? have i become that which i dislike? am i so set in my ways that indeed, the best thing to do now would be just to drop it all entirely, and come back in about a year or two with fresh eyes and an indifferent heart?

also me: the main reason ford sticks out in this set is because i’ve only got ¾ pines done, if i draw dipper to somewhat parallel ford while keeping ties to the rest of the set i should be fine, chill

Got @sovonight‘s lovely keychains and lil slice o’ sunshine a while ago in the mail and never got a chance to take good pictures of them! Shame!

I love them and I treasure them SO much. Rn Stanley is going to join my overcrowded keyring and young Ford will go on my backpack. Don’t have anywhere on the wall to put art (YET), so I’m stowing sunshine away in my daily journal to peak at every day~

This was something tossed together after discovering the adorable OC known as Hazel, she’s so cute and I love the design of her~ So, I did a little dabble of when both her and Stanford were in college and their first official conversation. I hope I wrote her write, as I have been a little rusty in my writing, Far too long since I posted something here that was worth the read. Anyway, please share any thoughts or feelings you have as long as it’s constructive. 

Hazel was wandering the commons of the college that morning, a little on the early side. She left the door early that morning to do some research at the library for one of her papers. Just because Backupsmore wasn’t her first college pick didn’t mean that she wasn’t going to put in the effort! She wasn’t as dressed up as she usually would be, just a simple blouse and shorts. She had pulled on a pair of flats as well before herring her hair up in a big ponytail and tossing on her bright pink glasses. With her messenger bag full of notebooks and pens, she was ready to go anywhere

Glancing to her watch, Hazel checked the time. Her first class of the day wasn’t until mid morning, so she’d have plenty of time to get some work done before classes that day. Most of her dorm mates were sleeping in from yet another party. She honestly couldn’t believe it. Just because they were at Backupsmore University didn’t mean they could party the semester away. Who did that anyway? Not her! No, definitely not.
