Tumblr folk are so patient with each other. I don’t remember why I followed half of you people and every day I scroll past Discourse from someone who’s moved fandoms ranting about some show I’ve never heard of in incomprehensible shorthand like “WC/YT shippers from ZZNMHP just don’t understand why Jyrra of the North couldn’t retrieve the Aggro Crag from the MalignaSwamp” completely untagged and I’m just like

You see, the thing about LUCY's music... well more specifically the mvs. Is about how it always has been about reminiscing on childhood and finding our inner child. And I think that they somewhat strategically paced out the mv concepts, is that makes sense.

We compare the stuff that came out before and after mid 2021. From Flowering/intro up to I Got U, it's always been this whimsical, fantasy like world. Where everything is magical and somewhat soothing to watch. I Got U, specifically, feels almost more realistic and less fantasy-like. And that's where they start transitioning in mv concepts.

Rolling Rolling portrays the mundane and monotone adult day to day life and builds up to their childhood memories and the passions that kept them going. Play portrays something similar, and it just feels warming and healing for someone who has forgotten what the innocence and carefreeness of childhood feels like.

the whimsical and fantasy mvs feel like it was metaphorical(?) and subtle when it comes to embracing those who have gone through a lot, it reminds us of our child-like fantasies and wonders and makes us revisit them.

The more recent mvs are more upfront on the message: reminiscing on our childhood. The subtlety of the past mvs (ignoring that one line in snooze) may have not reached everyone. So these mvs carry out the message LUCY wants to send literally. And I think that either way is beautiful.

LUCY has gotten me through so much this last year or so. A band that creates fun and youthful feeling music that washes away my worries at the end of a long day. I honestly wonder what kind of future will we see with their music and concept.

maybe the problem in general is the entitlement and possessiveness of their idol(s) policing others and even their idols themselves. jae has corrected, policed, and censored himself numerous times apologising on behalf of people who use the identity of being jae's fan as an excuse to defame, to attack, to cast words like stones, to manipulate, to humiliate, to bully others.

idolising someone inherently means loving a person excessively, and it is dangerous to think that one can school, preach, or command an idol, or anyone else for that matter, to do something one wishes, or behave in a way that one deems most appropriate, because the person would be nothing without them, or because the person is treated as a role model.

As a fan of fan content, I have followed and unfollowed countless accounts of other fans who created and contributed great content but have shown much negativity and possessiveness with regards to their idols. Idols are people we love and support, and many people seem to not realise that there are times when the love and support can be smothering, manipulative, obsessive, parasitic, and harm the very person we claim to love.

I have seen the shift from positive admiration to suffocating dictation; when people become more than allies who purely appreciate an artist's work/ the artist, casting their own opinions and an easy 'it's for your own good' as lip service while continuing to police them. And opinions are never wrong, so how can they even be refuted? It is why I still hesitate to proclaim that I am a fan of artists, only the art.

I have always been uncomfortable with the labelling of idol dating as scandals, or pseudo news outlets sensationalising and propagating daily affairs, but the most uncomfortable thing about being exposed or in a fandom is seeing how cult-like some people can be.

It is so infuriating and unfair that for all the good vibes and warm feels that day6 gifted me, the feeling of belonging in myday karaoke sessions in concerts, being so proud of mydays supporting the boys when they needed us, there are people who find it unable to tease the difference between supporting idols and idolising to the brink of manipulation and toxicity, ruining their mental, emotional, professional wellbeing. It reeks of immaturity, invasiveness, delusion, and a lack of basic human respect, not to mention cowardice.

for jae, and for day6, and for anyone we have ever cared about, think about de-escalating conflict and treating idols as people you really like, faraway friends you really treasure, and family you wish to protect in the healthiest way possible.

Don't let your love be translated into a weapon for ruination.

That isn't love at all.

If you're a fanfiction author and you haven't done this already, start backing up all of your fics on a Google Drive.

When Post+ goes live (it will despite the backlash - Tumblr is owned by Automattic who also owns WordPress), it's going to be mass purge of fandom accounts.

You've probably already seen the posts going around stating that if you make fanworks, you legally cannot monetize (EDIT 2: APPARENTLY THIS IS FALSE. EXPLAINED HERE. Check sources and come to your own conclusions. I've been getting messages with different takes on this). As soon as the idiots at Automattic realize this (EDIT: actually, they definitely know this), they're going to purge fan creators. Why? Because they're also going to be dealing with lawsuits, not just the creators.

And they can write out all of the rules and terms and warnings they want before a user signs up for Post+, but that isn't gonna stop all of the fandom babies from Wattpad coming in thinking they can make money off of writing fanfiction. So the solution? Shadow banning all people who create for fandoms, driving us into a dark corner, and ultimately kicking us off the platform so it can bring in more outsiders and normies, therefore becoming more appealing to investors and advertisers.

I implore you, please read up on the history of fandoms and the great purges of fan content here and try to tell me that's not where we're headed.

(EDIT 3: What I'm trying to say is, I'm pretty sure that the big men up top want us gone so they can try to make this site profitable. Back your works up. Let your voice be heard. Know your roots as a fan. All hail AO3.)
