as a person who lost a loved one to addiction, i would rather have them be able to use safely in a sterile environment with safe equipment, where they can 100% know the drug is not laced with something deadly, and live- than them dying because they didn’t know what the drug contained, or because no one was there to make sure they weren’t ODing, or because they used dirty equipment in a dirty environment.

again more simply put, i would rather have my dead loved one continue using drugs in a safe manner and stay alive, than die the way they did because the stigma around substance use is not only dangerous, but lethal.

i’ve been using she/they for about three years now and it is really really clear over and over again that the only people who really use they/them for me is he/they users and other she/they users bc they’re the ones who understand that when you use a set of binary pronouns and also something else you’re going to get the binary pronouns 99% of the time. it’s like a little kiss on the forehead every time one of these people does this you KNOW it’s purposeful

If you're in LGBT friendly spaces and someone introduces themselves and cautiously says they're fine with any pronouns, it is your duty to notice which pronouns the people around you tend to default to for them and ensure that you refer to them with any and every pronoun under the sun except for that one. You must.

just to play devils advocate…sometimes I interpret finnick’s “she crept up on me” completely differently from a slow burn. Like I think the full quote is “No. a long time passes before he adds…” (and just to add I’m sorry but if my future husband talks about us this way I don’t know if I want it LOL like bro I get a slow burn or friends to lovers relationship but you shouldn’t need a LONG TIME to say this smh). So sometimes i think of the context of like here’s finnick trying to console a teenager who’s trying to figure out her feelings and asking someone who has equally complicated feelings and circumstances surrounding their relationships. In short, this interpretation advocates for love at first sight odesta (rare!) + purely situationship vibes but finnick is trying to politely describe this and in a way thats appropriate to katniss lol. I feel like in a way he also only just realized (like in CF) how much he really loves Annie when they’re kinda looking face to face with the worst and in that moment he’s reflecting on how he let himself express that he loves her and that he’s lowkey been in denial to protect himself and her, but I also love the idea that like mags and Johanna sees right through that wall/veneer he puts up. Also like, i wanna hear what Annie has to say about this relationship’s origins

RIGHT like okay first of all. if anyone’s asking me literally anything about the gf i am going off. I am waxing rhapsodic. I become annoying. and if someone asks me something like that then it’s instant response so I like the way you’re approaching this a lot because they’re both under so much pressure in that scene where he’s talking to Katniss about this, they’ve both got really complex relationships, Katniss is literally 17 years old and we know Finnick is very aware that he’s the adult in the situation and someone she looks up to and trusts, so I can totally see him being like yeah how do I spin this when it’s like. a situationship turned relationship and a hot mess. Katniss is being very vulnerable in that moment and I think he makes the call that it’s better to be truthful but also spin it in a way she wants to hear it.

I also love this idea that he kind of like. doesn’t really realize (or let himself realize) how far gone he is for this woman until cf. I think that’s really compelling and totally makes sense because I do think he knows he loves her, but he doesn’t let himself dwell on it and tells himself it’s to keep her safe, but then when shit hits the fan and he can’t, that’s when he really gets hit with it.

and yeah. I want to hear what Annie has to say always but I especially want to hear what she has to say about this, lol
