“James,” Regulus said in warning, shrugging his shoulder a bit to nudge the other boy’s face away from the crook of his neck, even as goosebumps broke out over the warm skin.

“Sorry! Sorry, baby,” James immediately said, pulling back and scooting a few inches away from Regulus on the couch.

“You know I have to study,” Regulus said with a smirk, not looking over at his contrite-sounding boyfriend.

“But you look so pretty when you read,” the Gryffindor whined softly, voice full of adoration.

“You also think I look pretty when I stuff my face with pudding,” Regulus laughed, shooting James a look. “Forgive me if I’m not convinced to take a break.”

There was half a minute of silence before James tried again.

“But love,” he said pleadingly, reaching out to stroke Regulus’s hair.

“Chair,” Regulus said firmly, swatting his boyfriend’s hand and gesturing lazily to the armchair nearby, eyes never leaving the page he was reading.

With a huff, James stood and padded over to the chair, exiled until Regulus finished his work.

Okay but we idolise the marauders as the perfect friend group who would never drift apart BUT that’s because they never got the chance to grow up into their twenties when they probably would have drifted…. Okay that’s all.

it’s always funny seeing the canon people complain about fanon regulus saying that he’s too emotional and soft, while the only canon description we have of him is that he’s literally too soft
