I am finally finished with one of my biggest projects, both as a celebration of the FC5 anniversary and a sort of homage to the amazing FC5 community that keeps me coming back and keeps me inspired <3
The whole comic was inspired by one singular hearing of this song and it has kept me tied to the computer for a week
Context and some explanation under the cut:
The idea is that while walking through a field of dandelions Noah finds one dandelion clock. He picks it up to make a wish, and as he takes a breath to blow it out a wish he isn't particularly fond of pops into his head. That wish is being with Joseph. Having his 'I won't say I'm in love' moment Noah discards the intrusive thought right with the dandelion. But whether he likes it or not, the wish is made when the wind takes the seeds away. And be it coincidence or God's will the one last seed lands on Joseph's bible, on a particular name. And the man himself being the Voice hearing prophet, he just knows. And with the single dandelion seed, he too makes a wish. :)

Saw the little exchange in the replies on one of your recent posts about the "I put my faith inside her" line, and I wanted to add my two cents. I don't think there was anything sexual meant by it, and I think the English line more accurately reflects what happened. Because when you say "put my faith in someone", that means you are putting your trust in them. While what Joseph feels happened is he gave her some of his own faith, imbued it in her, and thus made her angelic. (1/2)
It may seem like a small change, but it changes the meaning of the line. I also find how he talks about her there, refers to her as 'angelic', to be very interesting. Because he only refers to two people in the game like this: Faith and his daughter. He only ever offers terms and views like that, 'pure', 'innocent', 'helpless', etc to those two. And I personally find that very telling to how he views Rachel at least (can't say anything about the other previous Faiths). (2/2)
(For context, for anyone wondering, what I said in the replies was that I hadn’t noticed the possible sexual innuendo in “I put my faith inside her”, at least not until I saw other people mention it. I also said my opinion might have been influenced by the choice made by the French localization team. In the French version of Far Cry 5, the first one I played, Joseph simply says, “I placed my hope and my faith in her”, which doesn’t imply anything weird.)
So, yes, I agree with what you say here. I too thought Joseph simply meant that he had infused Rachel with his faith. Thus, she was reborn and became a new, ideal person who would carry his message. I can see why people interpret the line differently, but I’m still not sure the double meaning was intentional.
I also think it’s very interesting that he says the word “angelic” because it’s indeed how he describes his daughter! He uses this term in one of his sermons as well, when he talks about how humanity was once perfect before Greed corrupted people… and “perfect” is precisely the other word he uses to describe his sister in her eulogy. To Joseph, “angels” (in general, not Faith’s Angels) are an ideal of purity and perfection. This is what he believes his “innocent”, “helpless” baby was and what he had turned Rachel into when she became Faith.
And I still like the idea of Faith Seed being an idealized combination of all the girls and women Joseph misses in his life but, if she’s supposed to be a substitute for one person in particular, I too think Rachel would be his daughter, not his wife. In addition to the NPC dialog about their relationship, I’ve also always believed that the use of the term “angelic” was no coincidence.
#I never thought anything sexual about this line#it’s really straight forward and makes sense#but people want to twist it into something it blatantly wasn’t#it just meant he put faith in her#but I agree with everything that anon said

Speaking from an objective perspective, I’m conflicted on whether or not Ethan Seed’s conception is in or out of character for Joseph.
On one hand, Joseph sleeping with his followers tracks with the type of character Ubisoft was trying to explore with him (i.e. manipulative cult leader). As well, he has the lust tattoo, which would imply some sort of sexual deviancy. On the other hand, Joseph’s late wife and the effects of her death on his life feel way too significant to his character for him to be sleeping around- let alone with random peggies. Through that perspective, it just seems strange to me.
I remember there being a lot of backlash about Ethan Seed’s existence when New Dawn released, but a lot of it was centered in just how people thought Ethan was the worst (true) or “too ugly to be a Seed.” Nobody really talked about this though, and I’m curious to see what other people think because I really can’t decide
#it was definitely out of character imo for him to have a child#i would get it if that was in game even a little bit but no one even mentioned anything about Joseph sleeping aroun#I don’t think he would sin if he thought god wouldn’t like it#it just didn’t make sense to me#I mean he’s evil#but he’s all about his cause and his cause says no fornication I don’t think he’s break it just because

I finally wrote for Jacob! I thought it was only fair since i had written for Joseph and John.
Jacob’s game of pleasure and pain. Back and forth you go.
Reader X Jacob Seed
Rating: M
Word count: 400
Warnings: Blood, Violence, Abuse, Manipulation.
“You are weak” he spat.
Sprawled out in the mud; your body couldn’t take much more. The beatings had lasted all day and now you couldn’t get up.
Your bloody fingers flexed and stretched for whatever you could grab, finding nothing but the dirt; it congealed underneath your nails, the coldness brought some relief, nothing made your skin crawl anymore, nothing.
A boot cruelly came down on your knuckles, forcing your hand to open and feel the harsh ground in your palm. He grabbed you by the hair, twisting and entwining it through each finger.
He bought you to his face, his stare more painful than his grip.
He chuckled slightly, enjoying your pain and drinking in your misery. He was happiest with your blooded face in his hands.
“Where do you think you’re going?” He tossed you aside like a used toy.
Your head pulsed from Jacob’s sudden release of your hair, but it made the impact to the ground more bearable. Jacob would only laugh at your attempts to stand so you stayed still this time.
The familiar pain from his hands and that pitiful stare again.
“You thought you were going to get away this time huh?” He put his heavy boot on your back.
The humiliation. the pity. the shame.
He would always cruelly watch and laugh as he captured then let you go. You would leave, then be hunted; like a wounded animal, awaiting the orders of its master.
Let go – recapture – punish.
You attempted to take your broken body away from him but like clockwork, you found yourself back.
Always back to him.
The pendulum swinging back and forth between pleasure and pain.
The punishment, the hurt, the twisted nature of his sick little game; then the night, then his bed, then his gruff voice in your ear as he has his way with you.
You would never be strong because he would never allow it, he wanted you weak, weak to him.
You were his toy, his plaything and you enjoyed it, he knew you enjoyed it. His hands around your neck, his voice as he whispered. Over and over, repeating in your head, the pendulum, never slowing.
The repetition was the only thing you knew now. The ground had never tasted so sweet as Jacob’s bed entered your mind, you smiled weakly as you thought of what was to come as night approached.

I was very anxious about the Vaas DLC before it came out because I was worried they would make a lot of mistakes about him and his story. I had this list in mind called “Everything that could go wrong in Insanity” which included:
They misunderstand Vaas and Citra’s relationship and think he was attracted to her
They believe Citra saying, “Hoyt Volker lured him away with money. Drugs.”
Citra didn’t do anything wrong, Vaas is the bad guy in their story
Vaas thinks torture is funny and he enjoys it (like in The Far Cry Experience)
In general, he is mischaracterized, shallow, and just “insane”
After years of saying Vaas died, they now decide to magically revive him for no logical reason
They thankfully didn’t severely mischaracterize Vaas or believe Citra was innocent but the rest of the list is basically the story of Insanity...
So, before the other episodes come out, I’m posting my two other lists called “Everything that could go wrong in Control” and “Everything that could go wrong in Collapse”… and hoping I’m just panicking for nothing, this time :’)
I have a good feeling about Control, honestly, and I don’t think they’ll make huge mistakes about Pagan or his story. But, just in case, the worst things they could do (in my opinion, of course) are:
Ishwari was never really in love with Pagan, she was just pretending to be because she had to spy on him
Pagan never really loved Ishwari and she barely affected him
And I guess I could also add:
If Lakshmana was murdered, ultimately, it was mostly Pagan’s fault; he brought this on himself (like in Rite of Passage)
But that’s pretty much it. I don’t have any other possible mistake in mind for the moment.
Now, in Collapse, a lot of things can go wrong because there are many ways to misunderstand Joseph. For example:
Joseph was just delusional, the Voice wasn’t real, and him being “right” was a coincidence
He just used God as justification for the terrible things he wanted to do
He has a huge ego, doesn’t care about his followers, and abuses people (including his siblings)
He doesn’t follow his own rules and had a lot of lovers (“bonus point” if the Faiths are on the list)
I suppose Joseph will be the main focus of the DLC but, if they include his siblings, we can also add:
They believe Faith saying, “None of this was my fault! You think I wanted this? He plied me with drugs... He threatened me...” or “Don't you understand what He'll do to me?”
Faith is just a powerless victim who only follows Joseph because she is scared of him, weak, and submissive
Or, on the contrary, she’s disingenuous, calculating, and only pretended to love him because what she truly wanted was a powerful position in the cult
John tortures people solely because he’s sadistic; he’s selfish, dishonest, and doesn’t care about Eden’s Gate’s rules (“bonus point” if they bring back Holly from Absolution)
Jacob is just a cruel person and he never believed in the Project
In general, the Heralds do whatever they want and use Eden’s Gate as an excuse, they don’t have faith in God or in Joseph
Or, on the contrary, they are all afraid of Joseph who forces them to do what they do; they’re just his innocent victims
And I’m 99.99% sure New Dawn is canon in Collapse so:
Megan and Ethan exist and have always existed
The Deputy only became the Judge because Joseph brutally tortured and brainwashed them for years
Also, I wonder if the events of The Book of Joseph will be considered canon in Collapse because the story told in Rite of Passage #3 was different. After all, we’re not certain The Book of Joseph is canon, we just collectively admitted it was because Far Cry 5 never gave us another version of the story… One of the trailers for the Season Pass showed Joseph performing a takedown with a copy of The Book of Joseph (which is weird, by the way, because the in-game book is different, it’s The Word of Joseph) so we know the devs are at least aware of the book’s existence. Anyway, if they decide to “change” the Seeds’ backstory, I’m interested and curious to see what they come up with!
#i am worried about the Joseph one#it would make no sense to say that it was just a coincidence#and that joe was just waiting for someone to drop a nuke#or that his wife died and he jist fucked everybody#like thats not...how i see him#i didnt ever think he was like that#and if they change it im going to actually cry#im still reeling from ethan

Just a little fic about getting a hug from Joseph.
Reader/Joseph
No warnings.
It was night, and your mind was restless. You found yourself at the church door, its big arch way welcoming you home. The light was dim but calmed you right away as you stepped inside. The hiss of the candles filled the empty space with life, they illuminated the writings on the wall; a stark reminder of why you were there.
You were alone but you felt at ease.
Taking a seat on the pews you stared at the pulpit and breathed in the musky air. Footsteps began approaching, though your eyes didn't leave the stand.
"My child?" The fathers voice cut through the silence. You turned and looked at the man. His eyes filled with love.
You stood as he welcomed you into his arms, they wrapped around you wonderfully, holding you tight. You felt his heart beat, steady and strong, yours matching the pace as you sunk into his body. You felt safe, you felt loved. The worries of the day and any doubt you may of had of Eden had vanished.
As if he had seen the doubts as they left, like smoke on the air, he affirmed "You're home child, you're home"

I'm seeing a lot of posts woobifying John and I'm sorry, but while Joseph is not blameless, John is not at all this innocent victim people try to portray him as
Does he seek his older brother's praise, almost to a needy point? Yes, he absolutely does and the way he couldn't meet Joseph's eyes during their scene together does display that emotion
But that doesn't mean he didn't use his Baptist title to torture people for his own pleasure. The instant he recognized the deputy, he shoves them under the water, mocking them as he shushes them until Jospeh stops him. His brother then instructs him to put the deputy straight to atonement and skip the torture (while threatening to shut the doors of eden to him, probably hoping it would make his brother stop, still fucked but hey that's the father for you) but it doesn't make John stop because he wants to put the dep through the trials, ignoring Joseph's demands.
I'm not saying he doesn't believe in Eden or Joseph, but clearly, he loved putting people through the ringer a little bit more than what was intended
#literally what i said but better articulated#i mean its almost an exact copy..#but glad to get the point across#i mean literally the same as what i put..

I've been seeing a lot of posts lately saying that John was only doing what Joseph said because he 100% believed in Joseph or because he was manipulated, however I don't think that's true. I think he used the title of baptist to torture and hurt people because thats how he had been raised or because he had been hurt in the past? I think Joseph wanted John to show love and thats why he watched as John beat Hudson and other prisoners; he wanted to see how John treated people. The voice message Joseph left to John made me think that as well. Joseph isn't blameless of course but I dont think John was doing it for the cause but rather treating people as he had been treated for the wrong reasons.
