There are days when I feel like I'm barely hanging on, when everything seems to be pressing down on me and I can't even breathe. I am easily startled. I feel alone, disoriented, and overburdened. Then there was you, though.

Just being here with you felt rejuvenating. You are there to steady me with your composure when it all seems to be crumbling. You create beauty out of my chaotic head. You always seem to know just the right phrases for me. To serve as a reminder that love and hope exist even in the worst of times. Furthermore, I deserve it. When words fail, your understanding comforts me, and when my strength wanes, yours encourages me.

The craziness doesn't go away while you're around; it just gets easier to handle. Bearable. Just by sharing the load, you lighten it.

I can still clearly recall pushing you away several times out of fear that my unsolved issues would drag you down as well. But in 2021, you stated, "But I choose to be involved. To get dragged. We're in this together."

I cried myself to sleep that night.

You create a sense of calm that I never imagined I could find in the midst of my chaos. I'm continually telling you how amazed I am that I have this level of emotion. However, it's not the kind of excess that overwhelms. That kind is what gets me through the day.

You taught me to cherish the little, quiet moments of joy that frequently get eclipsed by life's responsibilities and to discover beauty in the chaos. You serve as a reminder to relax, keep things in perspective, and have faith that everything will work out.

I am reminded gently that I am not alone by your love. I feel more hopeful and stronger when you're at my side. Before I met you, the idea of waking up for another day was boring and uninteresting. I now have something to look forward to because of you. Daily. I am therefore grateful despite my disarray. I'm grateful for your love, support, and presence in my life.

You are my serenity in the middle of a storm, my safe refuge in a world that frequently feels overpowering. My ride or die.

Thank you for being there and being who you are. You are the one who, despite all of my chaos, always reminds me of my value and power and helps me find myself again. I swear to be your secure sanctuary as well. Even though I can't offer you the same level of comfort and tranquilly just yet, I will be by your side for however long you want me to.

I just want to tell you that sometimes you have to remind yourself of the old you—the you who have lived and survived in the past—just to get you where you are right now. And remember that if you don't like where you are right now, you still have a chance to do something that might change where you're going. It might be a tough road to walk on. But the most important thing is that you've done something. You've never abandoned yourself and just given up on what you really want to do.

The new DRAFT U.N. Resolution, set to be voted on today, calls for:

• ... “urgent and extended humanitarian pauses” in the fighting throughout Gaza and the opening of corridors inside the enclave “for a sufficient number of days to enable full, rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access.” • U.N. Secretary General António Guterres to appoint a senior coordinator “with responsibility for facilitating, coordinating, monitoring, and verifying in Gaza, as appropriate, the humanitarian nature” of all assistance, and demands that “the parties to the conflict cooperate with the coordinator to fulfill their mandate without delay or obstruction.” • ... “immediate and unconditional” release of the hostages. It also demands that “all parties to the conflict comply with their obligations under international law ... including with regard to the conduct of hostilities and the protection of civilians and civilian objects.” • It reiterates the council’s “unwavering commitment” to a two-state solution for Israelis and Palestinians and “stresses the importance of unifying the Gaza Strip with the West Bank under the Palestinian Authority.” (12/22/23 | Source: WaPo)

Although the resolution's language was toned down, this is a sign of progress. While such measures are long overdue and should have been honored from the start, we must do everything possible to meet the urgent humanitarian needs in Gaza and relieve unfathomable suffering.

DON'T STOP POSTING. KEEP UP THE PUBLIC PRESSURE. DEFEND HUMAN RIGHTS.
