Reblogs VS likes: why it matters so much

My posts, like other artists things, get more likes than reblogs. Like a lot more.

A reblog helps me and other artists much more than a like. It shows other people the work, which can lead to more followers, which can result in more support, and it can help us make a living off our work if we would like to.

A like does none of these things. It just hangs out in a person’s likes, which are usually private, and no one but the person who hit “like” sees it.

So please, if you enjoy something you see on this blog(or on another art blog), reblog it so others can also see and enjoy it. This is a free and easy way to support creators. I put this on every one of my posts because it is an easy way to show me you want to see more of my work. A like shows me “eh, okay, it’s alright”. A reblog shows me “I love this!” without any words at all.

Please consider this when you’re hesitant about reblogging my or another artist’s work. There’s a reason why there are so many artists talking about how discouraging it is to consistently get more likes than reblogs, how it makes us feel like people don’t actually want to see our work or appreciate it. Reblogging art from the artist is always better for us and far more encouraging than a like.

Estoy haciendo pruebas de los diferentes efectos de medios en dibujo digital. Aún estoy aprendiendo.

Yo he dibujado toda mi vida. Si algo recuerdo de mi infancia es tener muchos cuadernos llenos de dibujos, libros para pintar y muchos crayones.

Si acompañaba a mi mamá a algún lugar, con unos crayones y un cuaderno, podía estar horas entretenida. Con el tiempo aprendí otras técnicas y la que más me gustó fue la acuarela, así que practiqué hasta que el resultado me gustó.

Dibujar siempre fue para mí ese hobby que uno elige para ese tiempo en el que uno hace lo que más le gusta en la vida.

Paulatinamente dejé de hacerlo y ahora decidí empezar a tomar un poco de tiempo de mi día para mí y empezar a hacer algo que realmente me guste, me de paz y tranquilidad, así que empecé a dibujar.

Siempre lo había hecho en la forma usual, con papel, crayones, acuarelas, un cuaderno para sketch, pero ahora estoy acostumbradome a esta forma digital, que aunque la siento bastante impersonal y me hace falta la textura de los materiales, me gusta que puedo hacerlo en cualquier lugar y un poco más rápido, por lo que decidí darle la oportunidad. Voy a seguir experimentando haber qué tanto puedo hacer aca.

Lo hago en el celular, así que si me gusta lo suficiente, tendré que pedirle a Santa una tableta para dibujar. 😅

Eventualmente, cuando el tiempo (o mis hijas) me lo permita, empezaré a usar los medios reales de nuevo.
