When is the next event planned, and what skill level of authorship is required? All the works tagged on AO3 seem so good, and I've barely ever written a fanfic - but I'd love to connect with others and learn as much as I can.
currently the kaishin big bang is happening, ran by kaishinbigbang on tumblr (sister blog). after that the next event is tba. please follow for info on future events!
as for skill level requirements: there are none! anyone can join, but writings should be in english.

Takeoff ✈️
Part one of two drawings. This was drawn for the kaishin wheel of fortune challenge hosted by @dcmkkaishinevents 💖. I used my assigned palette as a base to start off with but ended up veering wildly off prompt for the final drawing 😂
for some context, kaito and shinichi are childhood friends in this au but kaito eventually goes overseas to pursue his dreams of becoming an internationally acclaimed magician. Airplanes represent childhood dreams and the promises they make to each other.

As a good luck charm, Kid always keep something Kaito treasures on him on heists. And whenever he thought he might get caught, he can just burn the photo.
So far Kaito always make it out, even on days the photo was nearly burned to crisp.
My piece for the Wheel of Fortune Event on @dcmkkaishinevents. Thank you for hosting!
The prompt i got was whump and this color palette: (which I loosely used, I REALLY want a pop of red-orange in the piece).

My entry for the Kaishin Wheel of Fortune event hosted by @dcmkkaishinevents ! ty for hosting!
the prompt i got was sci-fi and rose so i went for robot kaito (inspired by magic kaito manga chapter 3)
it was supposed to be one single drawing but my hand had other plans. Its a bit rushed and the whole thing could've been conveyed better if i had more time to do more pages, but overall i had fun drawing this!

Ships: Friendship KID and Conan
Word Count: ~5k
A/N: Done for the @dcmkkaishinevents wheel of fortune for the genre crack/humour, the item 'gem', and the bonus of a palatte I sadly did not think to save but reminded me of halloween!
“Coming up next, the sludge monster,” Vivacia, the horror hostess, says, her voice a low, spooky tone. Behind her, stage lightning flashes and thunder plays. There are currently only two watching, though three are on the couch. Two young boys, Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher, finish off a bowl of popcorn while their platypus sleeps between them. One of them, Phineas, shifts restlessly.
“You know, Ferb,” he says, looking at his brother. “The costumes in these movies are cool, but don’t you think they could be better?”
Ferb thinks for a moment, before swiftly agreeing. They’d seen strings in the last movie, where the monster was being played by a puppet. It certainly made the movie less believable and, as a consequence, less scary. But none of the movies that play the day of the Danville Summer Horror Festival are ever truly scary.
“They’re just not believable,” Phineas continues, turning back to the tv. He gestures to the dripping sludge creature on the screen. “Look, you can see the zipper! If we-”
Phineas pauses, and a light comes to his eyes. He turns again, meeting Ferb’s eyes, seeing the same look there. “Ferb, I know what we’re gonna do today!” Phineas says excitedly, jumping off the couch and to his feet. The bolt of inspiration they’d been hoping for when they sat down five hours ago with their platypus to figure out how to dress for the festival night has struck. “What better costume is there than one which literally turns you into a movie monster!”
Together, they race off to the backyard, moving quietly to not disturb their platypus. A sweet gesture, but not one which lasts very long. A few minutes later, Perry’s watch goes off, rousing him from his nap. He groans, but stretches anyway, just happy he’d gotten to rest since Dr. D didn’t do his customary evil that morning. It seems, rather, whatever he planned needed the night. Not a very rare thing for Danville’s Summer Horror Festival, the doctor always in spirit this time of year. Perry makes his way to the refrigerator, knocking on it three times before opening it and tugging at the bottom shelf. He steps away as the appliance moves to the side, revealing a secret passageway and slide. The second he’s through, the fridge slides back into place.
The slide is less a slide and more of a tube, running through the dirt under the foundation of the house. It shoots Perry right into his seat right in front of the monitor and Perry reaches forward to grab his hat before answering Major Monogram’s call.
“Good evening, Agent P,” Major Monogram starts as soon as the screen comes online. There are spiderwebs behind him and the backdrop is purple rather than the usual grey. Perry raises an eyebrow. It seems even OWCA is getting into the spirit of things this year. “As you know, internationally wanted thief, Kaitou KID, aka Kaitou 1412, has sent one of his ‘heist notices’ to steal the gem the mayor is borrowing for this year’s Danville Summer Horror Fest. Clearly this is all an elaborate scheme by Dr. Doofenshmirtz to embarrass his brother and lower the people’s trust in him! Go out and put a stop to it, Agent P!”
Kaito walks between the stalls, baseball cap low on his face and blonde wig curling around his ears. It’s evening, though not quite late enough yet for his heist to start. His checks are going well, all of his traps carefully set up and fail safes in place. It’s one of the rarer heists which will take place outside, rather than indoors. Kaito always likes those heists– it’s more challenging to take from an outdoor venue, with no rooms or vents to hide in. This will also be a delightful challenge, since the mayor somehow managed to get access to a gem from Jirokichi’s collection, meaning Conan is here.
Kaito looks for the little detective, knowing he has to be around here somewhere already. Since it’s a festival, Kaito decided to schedule an earlier heist than he usually would to give Tantei-kun and his taskforce plenty of time to enjoy the festivities after he’s gotten away. He smiles to himself when he finally spots Conan with .
“Hey, Zack, Melissa, wait up!” A lanky kid runs past, right between Tantei-kun and him, and Kaito has to pause so he isn’t run into, the kid shouting a belated apology as he makes it to his friend group.
Kaito’s heart rate nearly goes up as something fumbles out of his pocket. He turns on his heel, catching the smoke bomb before it can fall, and continues walking in the new direction with a frown. Alright, weird. He’s never nearly dropped something from one of his pockets on accident– they’re too deep and well made for it– and certainly not in a place it might give him away. Rolling his eyes, he shakes it off.
Meanwhile, Conan looks up, distracted. Something tells him KID is close. The same instinct which always seems to ring true, always seems to guide him unerringly toward KID. He looks around, stepping away from the face painting booth. Before he can do anything, Sonoko’s face paint is done.
“Come on, Conan,” Ran moves to take his hand and he grouses but lets her, grabbing the water bottle he’d set down outside the tent.
“Come on, Buford!” Another voice, this one squeaky, calls and Conan barely glances to a kid in suspenders impatiently waiting for a larger kid who huffs and rolls his eyes.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m comin’.” Their hands nearly brush as the larger boy quickly grabs his own water bottle before running off with the other boy. Conan watches for a moment, thinking about Genta and Mitsuhiko. Those two boys are older than their group is, but not by much. He shakes his head, uncapping his metal bottle and taking a drink, trying not to think about aging in the wrong way.
All checks are done and it’s nearly showtime. Kaito is simply wasting the last few minutes before he has to get into position, absently watching Nakamori-keibu and Suzuki-jiisan. He doesn’t see Conan, but he knows his favourite detective will pop out of the metaphorical woodwork as soon as the heist starts properly. As he walks to his own starting place, someone bumps into him and he jolts slightly, surprised at being caught off guard like that.
“Oh! Sorry!” A squeaky voice says and Kaito looks around, but sees nobody. It’s strange, but this is a halloween heist (sort of), so KID puts it out of his mind. The spookier decorations– all still kid-friendly even with gaping mouths and dead eyes– must simply be getting to him. Somehow.
The lights all around the park, at every tent, turn off at once. There’s an ‘oooo’ which comes from his audience, and his taskforce and the jiisan scramble. They pause, though, before scrambling differently when one of the tents catches fire seconds later. KID also pauses, staring at it, because it shouldn’t have happened. Several audience members groan, but the fire gets handled swiftly and KID shakes off the oddity, disappearing in a cloud of glitter rather than the smoke he was going to use.
Nakamori-keibu shouts out, voice rising well above the din of once-more impressed voices. KID pays it no mind, already making his way to the rare black opal. As a gem, it doesn’t hold the most impressive story. But its beauty and rarity more than makeup for it. Why Suzuki-jiisan would bring it here of all places, KID isn’t really sure, but it is a nice Halloween piece, the gem set in a spider broach. For the event, it’s not even under a case but rather resting in the middle of a sticky web. It’s a rather unique attempt at making it so he can’t grab it while also making it accessible to the public, and KID commends the creativity. While the core of his taskforce is distracted and covered in glitter, KID pulls out his dissolvent spray, and fully stops when he moves to spray the web so he could nab the gem.
The gem is not in the web.
There is a chicken in the web, where it’d been.
He blinks at the web, because it’s certainly not one of his tricks. Of course not, why would he trick himself? He considers Akako but dismisses it; while he’s sure she could somehow get herself to America, it’s rather far to travel just to mess with him and she doesn’t typically play with his gems.
A loud psssst comes from the side, and KID turns to see a rather tall man in a lab coat with a cage sitting next to him. Inside the cage is the black opal, which he can see through the rather far apart bars. The man frantically waves him over to the tent he is hiding behind. KID moves forward warily. It’s unlikely for him to be one of his crows, as he’s not wearing a black trench coat and sunglasses like he just stepped out of a bad spy film, but he knows to be careful. He stops next to the man, who looks around. It is not at all subtle.
“Are you Kaitou KID?” The man asks, butchering the word ‘kaitou’. KID nods.
“Great!” The man lights up, straightening. He only straightens mostly, in a way which tells KID he hunches a lot and with the way his shoulders sag and his weight is thrown, KID can only guess the man has prosthetic arms. They must be surprisingly heavy, for him to slouch like that. “You’re just who I was hoping to meet. Of course, I guess it’s no surprise you’re you. I looked you up, you know, very nice work. But I thought you could use some help!”
“I could use some help?” KID repeats, keeping an eye out for the taskforce. The shouting and cursing tells him Nakamori-keibu must’ve gotten caught up in his glue trap. A suitably sticky trap in return for the web.
“I knew it!” The man cheers and before KID can correct him, the man thrusts out the hand holding onto the cage and the spider broach tumbles out. KID moves quick, catching it with a spin before it can hit the ground. The man claps and KID’s lips twitch imperceptibly.
“Oh, you are good. Well I’m Heinz Doofenshmirtz and this is my nemesis, Perry the Platypus!” The man gestures behind himself with a smile and KID tilts to look around him, seeing a blue platypus tied up in thematically appropriate spider webs. The platypus– Perry the Platypus, apparently– tips his brown fedora in greeting. This time, KID’s lips twitch downward fully.
“That’s a platypus,” he says, looking back at the man– Doofenshmirtz.
“Yes, and he’s also a highly intelligent and very suave secret agent,” Doofenshmirtz says. KID blinks at them both and promptly decides that it’s not really the weirdest thing he’s experienced at a heist. At least this animal-monikered agent isn’t wearing all black and shooting at him, even if he is an actual platypus.
“Right, well, it was nice meeting you and thank you for the help getting the gem. If you don’t mind, I’ll just be on my way now-” KID says, stepping to the side to move around them both. Doofenshmirtz doesn’t seem to notice, putting down the cage and grabbing the handle for the wagon the Platypus is sitting in to join him. KID glances at them but doesn’t stop them– while it’s not in the plan, he’s nothing if not adaptable and besides, there’s no crow presence tonight and he’s nearly done. Mostly, he’s surprised Doofenshmirtz can keep up with his running. Keep up and still talk.
“You know, I wasn’t even planning on coming to the heist! I’d only used the spider webs because they were kinda spooky and I found them just lying around in storage,” Doofenshmirtz says, waving the hand not pulling Platypus along. As he runs, KID keeps an eye out for Conan, but so far he hasn’t seen his Meitantei since he saw him at the face painting booth earlier, with KID inspired face paint— something he plans to point out during their meeting. He moves to duck into a tent, spotting a member of his task force who didn’t get caught in the gum trap, but stops when Doofenshmirtz pulls out something that looks like a lazer and shoots the man.
KID watches for only a few seconds as the taskforce member floats into the air, shouting and waving his arms around like he’s trying to swim. Pushing aside his own surprise, KID does a handspring to get extra air before leaping, catching the man by his ankle. Thankfully, despite the taskforce member’s sudden lack of weight, KID’s weight is enough to pull him back to earth. He pulls out a rope of scarves, tying one end to the man’s ankle and the other to one of the tent poles before turning on Doofenshmirtz, pointing at the lazer gun. “What is that?”
“Oh, this? Antigravity-inator,” Doofenshmirtz says, twirling it before holstering it back in his labcoat. Twisting to wink at the Platypus, he adds, “Handheld version, baby.”
Antigravity… KID looks from Doofenshmirtz to his taskforce member. It would explain the floating. But he does not want a floating taskforce member, nor does the taskforce member’s wife want a floating husband, he is sure. “Reverse it!”
“Can’t. But don’t worry about it, it’ll wear off eventually,” Doofenshmirtz says, tacking on a belated. “Probably.”
Before KID can say anything about the probably, the tent in front of them collapses. Out of nowhere. It reveals them to three more members of his taskforce and Doofenshmirtz moves to pull the -inator out again, but there’s a musical riff and KID watches as the Platypus tackles Doofenshmirtz. He doesn’t waste another second before he turns and sprints away. If he can just make it to the hill, he’ll have a good enough line of sight to view the black opal through the full moon. Halfway there, Doofenshmirtz catches up with him, looking a little worse for wear.
“Don’t worry, I slipped those guys,” Doofenshmirtz says, and KID glances at him as he follows a slightly modified path through the tents.
“So if you weren’t planning on coming to the heist, why did you?” KID asks, skidding to a stop to check around the corner.
“Well you see,” Doofenshmirtz starts. KID glances at him. “I’d planned to skip it– large crowds aren’t my thing– but it turns out Major Monogram sent Perry the Platypus out to stop me. I’d told him I wasn’t doing anything today, when your appearance showed up in the local news– I was watching the weather for a different -inator, but that’s a whole ‘nother tangent– and saw you! And I figured, well, if Perry the Platypus was there I might as well do something. Make his trip out worth it, you know? So I thought I’d help you steal the gem! It also has the bonus of entirely embarrassing my brother, and since the gem is being borrowed by some important rich person, he might even have to resign!” Doofenshmirtz looks giddy at the thought, even bouncing in place. “And then I’ll be right in line to take over the entire Tri-State Area!”
KID looks at Doofenshmirtz. There’s no one coming, so he’s safe to take a few more seconds than he would usually. “You know the point of this heist is the challenge, right? Old man Jirokichi is the one who’ll be embarrassed, not the host of the venue.”
“He won’t be?” Doofenshmirtz says, looking at him, and KID has the feeling the man didn’t watch the entire news piece. KID shakes his head.
“I’m likely to return this piece after I’ve borrowed it, anyway,” KID adds.
“You’re just giving it back?” Doofenshmirtz says, like he’s affronted. “Why?”
KID grins and shrugs.
“Oooo, mysterious,” Doofenshmirtz says. “I can respect that.”
KID nods and turns back to continue making his way to the hill, and has an entire brain restart. Behind him, Doofenshmirtz makes a delighted noise.
“Oh, hey! Your nemesis is also an animal! Well I don’t understand why you were so confused about Perry the Platypus, then,” Doofenshmirtz says, laughing a bit, and KID wants to say that no, he does not have an animal nemesis. He doesn’t even really have a nemesis, though he guesses if he had to choose anyone Conan would be a good fit. All he can do is stare because what the actual fuck.
In front of him stands Conan. Small, wearing glasses, annoyed looking Conan.
But it can’t be Conan.
“Pretty neat he’s a wolf,” Doofenshmirtz says, as if this is an every day occurrence. Given the platypus, KID assumes it probably is. But this is not an every day occurrence for him. This is a never occurrence. “But Perry the Platypus is still cooler.”
”Tantei-kun is plenty cool,” KID says absently, mind whirling. Why is Conan a wolf. He knew about the Shinichi thing, but has Conan always been a wolf? KID thinks he would’ve known Conan was a wolf, since his heists usually take place under the full moon and if he knows anything from pop culture, it’s that werewolves shift during the full moon. Conan growls and KID has just enough instinct to spin away and start running again while his mind screams.
“Yeah, you go ahead. I’ll catch up,” he hears Doofenshmirtz shout behind him. He can also hear Conan giving chase, which spurs him to go faster. This is worse than the soccer balls somehow.
There have been some rather weird additions to this heist. The bits of uncharacteristic bad luck, the scientist and his platypus, but this is absolutely over the top. None of the people who actually live here, when he passes them briefly, even seem fazed by seeing him get chased by a wolf. Come to think of it, they weren’t fazed when the fire happened, either. Which he thinks says something about Danville.
He thinks it says he’s not coming back to Danville.
He gets to the hill, the moonlight shining down, and dodges as Conan leaps at him. Twisting, KID uses his cape to catch the tiny wolf-detective in the air, wrapping him up like a burrito. Conan snarls and snaps at him, but doesn’t move to actually injure him, and KID takes that as a good sign.
“Meitantei?” He asks, hesitant, and Conan huffs but his ears relax out of the attack position they’d been in.
“KID,” he says, voice gruff. It’s nice to see Conan can still talk, at least. Sighing, KID warily sets Conan on the ground. Conan squirms, making angry sounds that raise KID’s hackles, but he ignores them to carefully remove the gem from the broach and hold it to the moon. As expected, it’s not Pandora, and he’s not entirely certain if he’s disappointed by it or not. The fact it’s not Pandora certainly lets him slip the heist quicker. He looks back down at Conan, who has stopped squirming and is instead simply glaring up at him.
“Have you always been a wolf?” KID asks, and Conan looks at him like he’s a complete idiot. KID pouts. “After the night I’ve had, I wouldn’t put it past you.”
“No, I haven’t,” Conan sighs. “I accidentally swapped my water bottle with someone else and-” He wriggles his shoulders in example.
“If I release you, will you try to bite me?” KID asks. Conan grins at him, all way too sharp teeth in a wolf maw. KID releases him anyway, because at this point it might as well happen. Though he also trusts Conan won’t actually bite him for setting him free. He’s still careful as he unwraps Conan, keeping away from Conan’s mouth and jumping back once he’s done. As soon as Conan is free, he shakes like a dog– or wolf–, fur fluffing back up with the action.
“So was it the one you’re looking for?” Conan asks as if this is any other heist, tucking his hands into the pockets of his shorts. Somehow, miraculously, his clothes still fit perfectly.
KID shakes his head, making a face at the black fur now on his cape, and decides to follow suit. “It seems my search must continue a little longer.” He throws his cape back over his shoulders, clipping it back into place and making a note to clean off Conan’s fur later. The thought has him looking Conan over curiously. “How long do you suppose you’ll be like that?”
Conan shrugs, seeming unconcerned. KID guesses after being shrunk ten years too young, anything rolls off your back. “Do you think your neechan will try to teach you any tricks?” He asks, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, and Conan gives him a withering glare. It is strange to learn how well Conan’s expressions map to a wolf’s face. Clicking his tongue, KID says, “Perhaps not, I can’t imagine you’d be easy to train.” The glare deepens, and KID prepares to run from either soccer ball or teeth, except it seems the night isn’t quite over yet.
Conan convulses like KID has only seen him do once before, crumpling to his knees. Before his eyes, in a matter of seconds, Conan changes. It seems less painful than the last time Conan changed in front of him, at least, even if he’s still left gasping for air. When Conan looks back up, he’s no longer a wolf or even Conan.
He’s Shinichi.
“Tantei-kun?” KID questions, hesitant once more, feeling as if any movement will make Conan change once more. Several long minutes pass with KID standing still on a hill, cape moving in the wind, and a spider broach in his hand. Juxtaposing him is Shinichi; Shinichi rolls onto his back, splayed out in the grass, and gasps until he hiccups, having taken in too much air. He lifts shaking hands, staring at them before touching his face, his hair, nudging under his glasses for a moment to press at his eye sockets before removing his glasses entirely. The night is loud with his wander. Or, perhaps, KID’s ears are simply attuned to the sound of Shinichi’s breath, waiting for a worrying hitch that doesn’t come.
“Is it… are you…?” KID asks, quiet, moving to sit with his favourite detective. Shinichi nods, hands resting on his chest.
“I’m me. And I don’t think I’m going to be changing again anytime soon,” Shinichi says. KID makes an inquisitive noise, and Shinichi sits up to look at him. The KID-inspired face paint is somehow unmarred, even after two total body changes. “The last few times I changed back to Shinichi, it felt like there was a… a ticking clock, in my chest. Like a part of me knew it was only temporary. But it’s not there now.”
“That’s good, then,” KID says, folding his legs together, passing the spider broach to Shinichi, who takes it absently. “But what inspired these changes, my not-quite chibi detective?”
Shinichi hums, even as his eyebrow quirks at the nickname. If he thought he would escape it just because he’s full-sized again, he is wrong. After all, as far as KID can tell Shinichi is still shorter than him. “There were these grade schoolers. I’d accidentally drank from one of their water bottles rather than my own.”
KID tsks at him, shaking his head. “Really, Meitantei? I would’ve thought you would know better.” Shinichi scowls.
“I was trying to keep up with Ran and Sonoko and locate you. Excuse me if I was a little scattered.”
“You’re excused,” KID says cheerily. “Though I have to ask, are you sure they were grade schoolers?”
“Yes,” Shinichi says with a nod, seeming a little confused by KID’s question. Of course, KID guesses it’s fair, when Shinichi is likely accustomed to the strange. “They seemed a little older than I was.”
“Doesn’t that seem a little too young to be messing with bioengineering?” KID says, raising an eyebrow. Shinichi blinks and looks over at him.
“Now that you mention it, yes. Yes it does,” Shinichi says.
KID nods, standing up as the pounding of feet gets steadily louder. “Well, this was a delight,” he says with a grin which says it really wasn’t, “but I’m heading out now. Good luck with your neechan, Meitantei.”
Shinichi’s eyes widen as KID runs off, pursued by Nakamori-keibu. One of the taskforce members takes the broach from him gratefully as he stands, brushing himself off, even if the taskforce member seems a little confused to see him. Right, Ran. He’ll have to explain why he’s there, and why Conan isn’t. Looking back at the festival still going on, Shinichi is simply glad Danville is in America.
He walks back slowly, taking the waterbottle out of his bag and looking at it curiously. He’ll have to return it to the kids, and perhaps do a small interrogation as he does. KID had a point, they were quite young to get their hands on something like this. It wouldn’t be the first time Shinichi met someone else cursed by the APTX-4869. Though, if they seemingly also had the formula to change back, why would they stay as children… Curious.
It doesn’t take long for him to find the two kids he’d seen earlier, now with three more children, a red-head, a kid with hair he can only assume is dyed green, and a girl. The large boy he’d accidentally traded water bottles with is covered in bandages, while the red head and tall one are dressed as vampires. The girl is smeared with fake blood, hair falling flat around her. He clears his throat, drawing their attention.
“I think this is your waterbottle,” Shinichi says, smiling awkwardly.
“Hey, it is!” The large kid says, taking it from him, looking inside before groaning. “Aw, he drank it all!”
“Sorry,” Shinichi says, apologetic. The kid in the overalls frowns.
“Are you sure? Wasn’t he younger than us?” He says, looking at the large kid, who narrows his eyes at Shinichi.
“He was!” The large kid says, pointing a finger at him, seemingly trying to intimidate despite the drastically different ages and the different sizes.
“Weird,” The red head says, not seeming to notice, instead looking Shinichi up and down in a calculating way he’d only ever experienced from Haibara. He has to push down the instinctual urge to hide away behind a more childlike appearance. “That should’ve only happened if he was originally actually a teen but someone used something to change his body on a molecular level, dramatically reversing the aging process so he appeared six.”
“That was my cousin,” Shinichi explains, shaking his head, and trying not to seem surprised at how on the nose the red head was. There’s something not right here, but the way they’re all looking at him doesn’t remind him of adults in kid’s bodies. No, they just seem really smart, like Mitsuhiko, Ayumi, and Genta. It still has his hackles raising, warning bells playing by instinct at anyone getting so close to the truth.
“But you’re wearin’ the same clothes he was,” the large boy says, crossing his arms.
“We dressed the same. I don’t see him very often, so I thought it would be fun for our costumes to match,” Shinichi explains, and the group of kids give a drawn out ‘ooooo’ together. It’s enough for Shinichi to accept that they really are just kids. After all, he’s pretty sure anyone else would poke at the excuse more. The detective boys would.
“So he must’ve been the one to turn into a wolf!” The red head says, and Shinichi nods.
“A wolf? I wanted to be a mummy!” The large kid complains, looking at the red head, and the boy in overalls sighs.
“I told you, Buford, that’s not how mummies work,” he says.
“Did he like it?” The red head asks, as if the others didn’t interrupt him at all.
“He did,” Shinichi says.
“Well that’s good! Thanks for returning the water bottle,” the red head smiles at him, friendly, and Shinichi smiles back.
“Yeah, thanks,” the large kid– Buford– says, handing Shinichi back his own water bottle.
Elsewhere:
“I see our intel was faulty,” Monogram says, reading Agent P’s report of the night. It seems Dr. Doofenshmirtz didn’t even have any evil planned that night, until they’d sent P off for a mission. Which means he could’ve gone to the heist himself, instead of staying at headquarters. He looks up from the printout, frowning at Carl. “Carl, this is coming out of your paycheck.”
“But I don’t get paid, sir,” Carl says with his own frown.
“Oh right,” Monogram says, humming. After a moment of thought, he says, “Alright, Carl, no more afterwork milkshakes for a month.”
“Aww,” Carl whines, shoulders slumping.
“No whining, Carl,” Monogram says, putting the printout in Agent P’s folder and closing the filing cabinet. “Now come on, I’m in the mood for a cotton candy and if we move fast enough we might at least get to enjoy part of the festival despite your blundering.”
“Yes, sir!” Carl agrees, shutting down his computer.

Halu! This is my piece for the Wheel of Fortune Challenge 2025 KaiShin event @dcmkkaishinevents ~!
The stuff I got was "Sci-fi" and boi did I have a particularly difficult time ^^;;; im not exactly a scifi enthusiast. But I'm glad I was able to push myself into finally making something for this event! Really enjoyed brainrotting for it and the experience was nerve-wracking to say the least! Do what you will with the scene unfolding in the art, even i can't tell what exactly they're up to 👀
Hope you enjoy and thank you again for this lovely event!

This is my Kaishin Wheel of Fortune submission!
@dcmkkaishinevents hosted this event, thanks @katsukifatale for organising!
My prompt was "Whump" and this colour palette.
Tumblr media
I didn't really have a good idea for "whump" so this is like, if the Pandora Gem was perfectly bullet-sized, housed a demon that possesses Shinichi and the only way to get it out is to shoot Shinichi with the gem itself.
No, I'm not going to write this fic, I have too many WIPs to start a new fic epic lol.
I *slightly* cheated with the colours by using gradients for the sky, clouds and the glow in the eyes and bullet-gem. But in my defence, I didn't think Shinichi looked possessed enough with the base red in my palette so I used it as a colour dodge. The disassembled gun was hard to draw and it doesn't even show up that well bc I the focal point was the gem/eyes T_T. Kaito's hat fell off mid-scuffle bc I think it looks cooler in the composition.

my submission for the wheel of fortune challenge by @dcmkkaishinevents ! thank you for hosting the event and the fun challenge in general! I was a bit intimidated when I realized I had to stick to a color palette but I think the result is nice enough to look at! my prompts of choice where time travel, alternative universe or fluff and I unintentionally ended up including all of them - oops! they boys just do their own thing, as always.

DCMKKSE Wheel of Fortune 2025 - Prompt 2 -
For the wheel of fortune 2025 KaiShin event. Led by the lovley @dcmkkaishinevents
I decided to combine a few prompts for this one. The first prompt didn't keep my muses awake, so I decided to spin once more.
I feel a little rusty, haven't written in a hot minute. But here it is!!
For this short I used:
Genre: Hurt/Comfort and Time travel.
Object: Rainy day and park bench.
Warnings: Mentions of wounds, blood, dying.
Shinichi gets shot one rainy evening.
It was a miss on his part. On his way home from a long day at work. The rain pitter pattered on his umbrella. A short cut through the local park. He didn't see the figure lurking in the dark. Didn't see the glinting gun, hidden due to the glimmering rivulets of water reflecting the lights in a magical dance all around him. Didn't hear their footsteps crunching on the gravel, the rain dampening the sound. Didn't react in time. Didn't get away in time, his shoes slipping in the mud. The park, flooded by puddles because of rainy weather.
By the time he noticed it was too late.
The shot rings out, muffled by the rain. Shinichi stumbles, clutches at his side. His knees give out, his umbrella slipping out of his fingers. The culprit turns and sprints away from the scene. Shinichi curses. His breaths heavy, trying to breathe through the pain. His jacket quickly soaking through without anything to protect him from the rain.
He looks around, a park bench catching his attention. He forces himself up on trembling knees, slowly making his way over to the miserable looking bench. He makes it after an eternity. Heavily sitting down. He pants desperately for breath. His hand clutching his side in a death grip. He can see the blood seeping through his fingers, staining the tan jacket he got on his birthday from Kaito half a year ago. It's his favourite.
He rummages through his pants pockets with his fumbling free hand. He snatches his phone from its clutches and manages to get the screen to open despite the water. He tries to get his trembling fingers to cooperate to dial for an ambulance but the phone keeps slipping out of his cold fingers and his vision is growing too blurry to see. The phone slips out of his hand down to the gravel below with a soft and wet thud. He sighs in frustration and struggles weakly to bend down to pick it up. He manages through way too much effort and sits up again.
His breaths are heaving out of his lungs while he sits there for a moment with the phone weakly grasped in his hand. He is growing quite cold and tired, oh so tired. The phone slips out of his hand again, down to the gravel beneath the bench. But this time he makes no effort to get it back. He struggles weakly but gives up and just sits there and breathes for a moment more.
The tiredness is creeping up on him more and more and his hind brain is screaming at him to stay awake. But he can't figure out why that is such a bad thing. Maybe it would be okay to sleep? Maybe it would be okay to rest his eyes for a bit. His heavy eyes flutter shut. Yeah that… that sounds good. He can feel himself slipping away into the comforting darkness.
“-chi!”
Who is calling for him?
“-nichi!”
He recognizes that voice.
Someone touches his cheek, it's warm and he can't help but lean into the touch.
“Shinichi” Someone says his name with such relief in their voice that he hums to show them he is awake. The thumb resting on his cheek caresses his skin so very affectionately for a moment and then the fingers slip away and down to his neck.
The voice keeps talking and he can hear a tinny voice he doesn't recognize speaking back, but the detective can't comprehend any words spoken. But the familiar baritone that is so close, brings him such comfort that he feels himself drift away again.
The voice falters in alarm and then the palm on his cheek returns with the voice sounding desperate, spewing words he can not understand. But there are a few words that penetrate the fog in his brain.
“Please Shinichi. Open your eyes”
It's said in such a heartbroken desperation that he can't help but flutter his heavy eyes open.
“There you are” the voice says wetly as his eyes focus on a familiar face.
“K-Ka- i- to” the detective says, his words are slurred and raspy.
“Yup, now I want you to stay awake. The ambulance is on its way. Just hold on please.” The thief says softly, desperately.
Shinichi weakly hums in confirmation and leans into the hand on his cheek. His eyes demand to close, but Kaito told him to stay awake, so he forces them to open again.
He focuses on Kaito's face, taking him in. He looks rough, heavy eye bags under his eyes like he hasn't slept in days, if not having gotten any proper rest in weeks. He has a thickening beard that Shinichi's slow brain says wasn't there this morning. He looks overall rough around the edges in a way Kaito rarely does, especially not recently. Alarm bells are chiming in the back of the detective’s mind but his thoughts are so muffled and scattered that he can't string a deduction together.
So instead he weakly lifts a trembling hand up to his cheek to caress his face, his beard tickling his palm. Kaito leans into the touch with a shuddering breath, his expression so heartbroken and relieved. He doesn't even care that Shinichi is spreading blood over his cheek. Where does the blood come from?
Before his scattered brain can string enough brain cells together to ask, the rain-deafened evening is pierced by sirens. Red light stings his eyes, blinding him. He squeezes his eyes shut. He can feel a squeeze to his hand which makes his eyes flutter open again. When did Kaito take his hand? “You will be okay.” Another squeeze and a comforting caress to his cheek.
“Stay awake and stay strong for me. Okay love? Please”
“Shinichi hums in confirmation and weakly squeezes his hand back.
Kaito then untangles his hand from his. And suddenly it becomes very clear that Kaito had been holding onto his hand from the moment he woke him up. As he feels the loss as soon as his hand lets go of his own.
“K- Kaito?” He slurs out as people are suddenly surrounding him on all sides. Fast talking people that blurs around him in a flurry of movement. Lights shining into his eyes that makes him wince. Uncomfortable touches making him shy away and weakly try to fight them off.
A comforting hand lands on his head from behind him. Long slender fingers combing through his hair in comfort as the baritone of Kaito's voice comes back to mutter comforts into his ear.
“It's okay, it's just the EMTs doing their work. You are safe. You are okay. Just stay strong.”
He keeps comforting him up until the ambulance staff straps him into the cot in the ambulance. He gets a mask over his nose and mouth, an EMT pumping the bag, making it easier to breathe. An EMT asks if Kato is coming with them, but he doesn't hear his answer. And Shinichi's blurry eyes catches Kaito starting to leave and captures his wrist in a pitiful hold. Kaito turns to him with a small startled smile. The detective can't seem to make his heavy tongue cooperate to form words, so he just makes a questioning sound in the back of his throat.
Kaito gives him a sad smile and puts a hand on his to make him loosen his weak hold. He picks up his hand and brushes a quick kiss to his knuckles.
“Don't worry, you are in good hands, I'll meet you there. Stay strong.” Is all he says and then leaves out the back of the ambulance and disappears from view.
The ambulance ride is a blur of motion, sounds and words that are flying over his head at speeds his sluggish mind can't make sense of.
His eyes flutter open when a hand touches his own. His eyes meet a white ceiling that is rushing by in a blur. He turns his head and meets eyes with Kaito, an expression of deep rooted fear in his eyes. He lacks the eyebags and the roughness from before, his beard nowhere to be seen. Shinichi wants to ask him about that.
But suddenly they enter a new room and Shinichi’s hand is pried from Kaito's as people are screaming instructions in commanding voices. It's all blurring together in a mess of sights and sounds until another mask gets put over his nose and mouth and suddenly he is feeling sleepy again.
No.
Kaito told him to stay awake.
To stay strong.
He can't sleep yet, he promised.
He has to stay awake.
He loses the battle and goes under, despite his pleading mind.
—--
He startles awake to beeping. His mind struggled to recognise the sound for a moment. But when he does, he opens his eyes to a stark white ceiling with antiseptics stinging his nose. The hospital.
He feels a squeeze to his hand which makes him turn his face. His gaze catches on the rise and fall of Kaito's back as he lays there sleeping, with his hand in Shinichi’s own. Shinichi takes a deep breath in and winces at the stinging blooming in his side. Right, he got shot. Shinichi squeezes Kaito's hand to gently wake him up. Kaito groans and squeezes his hand back before he lifts his sleepy gaze. His indigo eyes widen as they take in Shinichi and he stands up quickly to give Shinichi a gentle hug.
“You're awake” he says and squeezes Shinichi a little tighter “When I got the call that you had been shot I was so worried. I'm so glad you made it. It was a close call, stupid detective.” He sniffs, his voice getting suspiciously wet.
“I'm so glad you are alive. They said it was a miracle that you made it until they arrived at the scene.”
Shinichi frowns in confusion. What is Kaito talking about?
“Got the call? Kaito- What? You were there Baro. Why would you get a call?”
Kaito sniffs and backs away from the hug so he can look into the detective’s eyes. His eyes are teary.
“Shinichi, love. What are you talking about? I wasn't there.” Kaito caresses his cheek affectionately with a wobbly smile. “I got a call from Meigure-Keibu saying you were shot.”
Shinichi feels even more confused.
“But-”
“I'm flattered you conjured me up while on death's doorstep love” he says with a touch of humor, more tears falling down his cheeks. His smile falters. “Tsukiyomi, I wish I was there. I would tear myself apart if I knew you died out there all alone in the pouring rain. That was too close.” he says wetly. And goes in for another hug. Shinichi leans into him in comfort. Letting him cry into his shoulder.
But Shinichi’s mind is spinning a mile a minute. He is sure he wouldn't have been delirious enough to hallucinate. Kaito had been so real at that moment. At his side, while he sat there on the park bench in the pouring rain.
—------
A bearded young man stands by the door, peering into the hospital room. He is dressed as a doctor, a stethoscope around his neck. Watching the hugging pair with a sad smile on his face, his indigo eyes exhausted and teary eyed. He watches the scene for a few seconds more, before he reaches into the lab coat’s pocket and takes out a red gem. He rolls it in his hand for a moment and then crushes it in his hand. The small pieces of the gem glitters around his hand for a split second. And in the next moment. He is gone.
THE END
Until Next time! //Wick♡

it is not open to the public! only folks who participate in events hosted by this blog or the ksbb are given the link to join. its main purpose is first and foremost a place where event participants can communicate and get information about the event they are participating in.
