This self-portrait conveys a message of accomplishment, hard work, diligence, victory, and the perseverance that was required to perform in my first outdoor long set concert. Using a blend of naturalism and realism, I aimed to capture the honest emotion and natural details of an on stage performance. Focusing on realism style, an important principle of design for this piece is proportion. I captured the proper proportions of my facial expressions, body language, and guitar in relation to myself to be as close to the reference image as possible. I used space to highlight the position of myself in contrast to the other musician as he is in the foreground and out of focus. With me in focus, the element of texture is crucial and represented throughout my clothing, hair, and guitar. Unity is also expressed through my use of color to highlight the patriotic theme. My individuality, creativity, imagination, and point of view are represented through my artistic skills as a musician, artist, and an on stage performer. I am currently the youngest and only female musician performing in our band. My makeup and fashion choices are unique in style and pushed a patriotic theme, which speaks to my individual point of view.
