You know....Out of all the ways to gain engagement, rage is the easiest. Under no circumstances do you really need to try. Like....Okay, you have your personal reputation to uphold, but it's pretty clear that if you make people mad then that's enough to gain fans. Some people see making others angry as a positive quality. The thing is, being counter to whatever is the majority will always get support. That's contrarianism, baby!!

How can you get rid of this, though? Even if we reset all of human history, there will be people who thrive off of upsetting the majority. Gonna go out on a limb and say that making it so that engagement literally gets you money or more notoriety. Algorithms for engagement make sense from a level of the average user who wants to see more of what they like, but the issue comes where it's too easy to game.

Maybe all of this rambling isn't doing anything though, since the ideal trick is to anger people in a way that's harmless rather than in a way that flares up hatred towards any group. Example: this post when you decide to only read the capital letters.

Don’t let Chrome’s big redesign distract you from the fact that Chrome’s invasive new ad platform, ridiculously branded the “Privacy Sandbox,” is also getting a widespread rollout in Chrome today. If you haven’t been following this, this feature will track the web pages you visit and generate a list of advertising topics that it will share with web pages whenever they ask, and it’s built directly into the Chrome browser. It’s been in the news previously as “FLoC” and then the “Topics API,” and despite widespread opposition from just about every non-advertiser in the world, Google owns Chrome and is one of the world’s biggest advertising companies, so this is being railroaded into the production builds.
