Hi, Iranian here, a longtime resident of Tehran.

Do not send support to the Iranian government until Israel hasn't attacked. Do not.

Iran used the attack on its embassy as an EXCUSE to send missiles and drones to Israel. Iran is NOT doing this for Palestine's gain, it's for THEMSELVES. The government is full of lazy, uneducated dictators who will do anything to spread propaganda.

Do you know what it's like seeing posters everywhere on the streets of bruised and bleeding children of Gaza with slogans like "DEATH TO AMERICA!" or "ISLAM WILL ALWAYS PREVAIL" on them? every day?

This is not a tactic to support Palestine. It is a tactic to support ITSELF!

And you know what? It'll fucking work.

The protests last year were due to brutal oppressions of women and children in Iran. If a war starts, nobody will have time to focus on how abusive and theocratic this piece of shit government is, because we'll be too busy forcibly uniting in order to stand against a common enemy- fucking Israel.

And we can't do that. We genuinely do not have the firepower.

We could scrape past a scuffle with Israel, but absolutely not with the US.

I am begging people not to support this. Do not send support for the IRI. Iran has enemies inside and out. Nobody will fight for a country that oppresses it so brutally.

Sorry for being on anon, but thank you so much for your post about the alienating experiences of being both PoC and Jewish.

Im starting to reconnect with my Judaism, but since I'm 1) a Black person and 2) first generation immigrant whose whole linage was affected not only by numerous exiles but also racism, xenophobia, and the slave trade, I was always hesitant to reach out.

Even though I want to reconnect with the Jewish community, I keep feeling alienated with every step. It wasn't until I saw jewish PoC that I regain my interest of reaching out.

hi! i'm not on tumblr that much anymore. it sucks but the culture here can be either great or toxic and i often just need to step back and take a break.

but i appreciate hearing this SO much.

being Jewish and a person of color, being Jewish and Black, is such a hard journey. it's not easy, and while being both separately is so hard and then combining those two things make the experience so much more difficult.

but there is hope. and we will keep finding each other. and it will be okay.

What I was taught growing up: Wild edible plants and animals were just so naturally abundant that the indigenous people of my area, namely western Washington state, didn't have to develop agriculture and could just easily forage/hunt for all their needs.

The first pebble in what would become a landslide: Native peoples practiced intentional fire, which kept the trees from growing over the camas praire.

The next: PNW native peoples intentionally planted and cultivated forest gardens, and we can still see the increase in biodiversity where these gardens were today.

The next: We have an oak prairie savanna ecosystem that was intentionally maintained via intentional fire (which they were banned from doing for like, 100 years and we're just now starting to do again), and this ecosystem is disappearing as Douglas firs spread, invasive species take over, and land is turned into European-style agricultural systems.

The Land Slide: Actually, the native peoples had a complex agricultural and food processing system that allowed them to meet all their needs throughout the year, including storing food for the long, wet, dark winter. They collected a wide variety of plant foods (along with the salmon, deer, and other animals they hunted), from seaweeds to roots to berries, and they also managed these food systems via not only burning, but pruning, weeding, planting, digging/tilling, selectively harvesting root crops so that smaller ones were left behind to grow and the biggest were left to reseed, and careful harvesting at particular times for each species that both ensured their perennial (!) crops would continue thriving and that harvest occurred at the best time for the best quality food. American settlers were willfully ignorant of the complex agricultural system, because being thus allowed them to claim the land wasn't being used. Native peoples were actively managing the ecosystem to produce their food, in a sustainable manner that increased biodiversity, thus benefiting not only themselves but other species as well.

put spikes on your wheelchair's handles. wrap barbed wire around your cane or crutch so it'll hurt like a motherfucker if someone kicks or grabs it from under your hand. wear a personal alarm and pull the pin every time someone moves you without your consent, leans on your chair, takes a seat on your rollator, taps your hearing aid, steals your AAC device. scream for help when you're abducted. wail like you're in agony when people trip you up or knock into you. take pepper spray to the grocery store. take a knife to the club. leave cards that say "fuck you" under the wipers of inconsiderately parked cars and scratch access codes for bathrooms on the outside of the door. we are not begging for mercy, we're fighting dirty. we have to.
