Here is what I wrote after watching it in 2022: The mad man did it, created an ultimate insult to creation itself, crossed the borderline of blasphemous abstraction, waged nuclear war on the notion of reason, made a masterpiece of masochistic waste. Literally. Why? What for? Was it to provoke all producers of artistic media and consumers? Was it to offend anyone who seeks meaning or narrative? Or was it just to invoke divine wrath? To make God mad?  Go figure.  Die mad about it.

Suppose you’ve got a crack in your face. A tiny fissure, like in a vase, or a chip in a piece of glass. Something that everyone notices the first time they see you. Everyone, except you. Your brain just refuses to let you acknowledge this blatant defect. You've looked at yourself from up close in the mirror and from afar. You've seen yourself in different lights, different colours, in different seasons, different weather. But it made no difference at all. You just didn’t notice that single flaw.

But then one day you see it. Your first reaction is that of utter disbelief. When had this come to be, your ask. Then you start looking at yourself, I mean really looking at yourself for a final time, before you cannot anymore. It breaks your heart to know this. To think of all the times others have noticed it. They must have. But no one pointed it out, out of kindness or indifference. And the most painful truth is, you cannot change it. The all new reality borne from the knowledge does not affect the reality of that defect. You cannot get rid of this detail. It is a part of you.

So you try to ignore it. But to no avail. You cannot pretend it doesn't exist. You cannot live in the inversion of the truth. It festers in your mind like shadow at twilight. Will you draw the window curtains and try not to look at yourself ever again? Will you hide yourself, from everyone, from the truth? Or will you go out into the sun, for all to see, that you are a broken tea pot? Will you let the weather fill you in, will you let rain spill off the hole, down your cheeks? will you oppa gangnam style? op op op oppa gangnam style art and prose by me.
