and fail miserably
to quote the beautiful pam beesley (something maggie would unironically say) “i think if they got to know me they wouldn’t hate me”

his eyebrow juts, a strange proudness coursing through. “ i’m just too good. ain’t no other kid in this town dealing what i deal. ”
alejandro made sure of it. in a town that made him the underdog, he still made sure to come out on top. through violence, obviously. it was his preferred method—tried and true.
‘popular?’ he wasn’t like her, not in the slightest. it was just how he preferred it.
“ don’t make me laugh, ” he grumbles, hiding a small baggy of pills between fluffy, buttery layers. “ that’s your crowd, güera. ”
alejandro swipes the money as it glides towards him, the bucket sliding towards her. “ pleasure as always. ” he grins, slipping $30 in his pocket—only using the remaining five for her popcorn.

i humbly request magdalena's fashion !
tysm for asking <3 this took me awhile but here it is
disclaimer: magdalena’s styles are based heavily on her ( and my ) heritage. please keep this in mind that while this is her style, this also reflects what was popular amongst my own community especially in the 80s & 90s, and even now. and before it was popularization as “streetwear”, these styles were considered “ghetto” or “rachet” because it was most popular with black and brown communities. the more you know -vampi
everyday wear
magdalena’s style is that a chicana living in east LA in the 80s! her style icon is Selena Quintanilla.
down below are a couple of outfits that maggie would wear casually in her day to day life. a lot of her outfits are a simple tank or blouse tucked into shorts , dickies , or baggy jeans ( which always requires a belt ). most her outfit is really in her accessories. she’s a big fan of jewelry ( silver & gold ), silky hair, red lips, and black liner. and if volleyball season is out, then that means red and french acrylics are in.
she also loves wearing religious jewelry and imagery. every mexican to ever exist loves la virgen de guadalupe—she is no exception.
party wear
the clothes she wouldn't wear normally without pre-gaming. again Selena is that girl and magdalena loves her more than life. she incorporates glimpses of traditional mexican fashion in her outfits— jaripeo culture, roses, religious jewelry, the occasional sneakily placed Mexican flag, etc.

cultural
magdalena is part of the jaripeo scene ( mexican rodeos ) and a folklórico dancer ( mexican ballet ) as her dad and grandma were very keen on keeping traditions alive with the younger generation of first-gen children.
all 31 states of méxico have different folklórico costumes, so i will only be showing a few of the states. folklórico costumes are very pricey, heavy, and hard to find outside of the U.S. most dancers import their costumes or go to México to buy them.
however, magdalena does not wear these styles in derry because there is no need to. no rodeos or folklórico groups, as these are Mexican traditions celebrated by Hispanic communities; while it was popular in southern california, rural maine is a different story.

i made magdalena in 2017-2018ish when i was in high school.
i have always symbolized her with a [monarch] butterfly as they are beautiful creatures who migrate and adapt to change just like my and her beautiful community who immigrate for a better life. to this day it remains her symbol because the entire reason i made her was to represent my heritage and community, which i love and hold dearly to my heart.
i never knew how to truly explain why i chose the butterfly, other than because i’ve always felt that way. when i think of butterflies i think of my community. hardworking people who migrated for change and a better life 🩷

“ can’t i just shoot it? ”
the glares from the other councilors was his answer, but not the one he wanted. “ ok, you idiots got a better idea? ” alejandro huffs, aluminum bat gripped tightly in his hands. the nightly councilor meetings; it was the only thing keeping them sane. that and coffee. a lot of coffee.

Victor Criss being the only one to ask Henry if he's ok. I'm not sure if it was pity or just him caring for his friend. I think Belch would have asked too, but he might've been scared of setting off Henry. Victor knew that was a possibility too, that Henry would get pissy and breakdown, but he asks anyway.
I think of Victor to be the therapist friend in a way. He doesn't talk a whole bunch, just listens to whatever Henry or Belch drunkenly admit, Patrick never says anything Victor wants to hear.
He lingers in the back and sticks around so he doesn't feel excluded. Sometimes bullying people makes him feel better about himself, but there is a lot of guilt and self-doubt that he carries when his friends aren't around. He just can't show it.
If he wasn't part of Henry's group, he would've been a victim, too. The scrawny kid who bleaches his hair and always has his Walkman clipped to his camo pants, headphones over his ears to pretend he doesn't hear the taunting. He knows it too, that if he was just another face in the hall, he would've been another loser.
#—victor criss#this is just my interpretation of him#i love this bleached idiot#i could on and on about his mind#especially his train of thought#and need to fit in
